Met Dr Baur for the first time today for hearing test. He really seemed interested in my situation and put me at ease very quickly. Nice/polite and explained the complete procedure in detail so I knew what to expect. Great “bedside” manner. Strongly recommend him.

We've been going here since my daughter was first diagnosed Deaf, the doctors are awesome, so are most of the office staff!

The staff are great and friendly but every time we come we wait between 45 minutes to an hour for our appointment. Then have a second appointment an hour and a half after the first. With a 5 yr old, that almost guarantees that by the end of the appointment, he's anything but cooperative. It exhausting for both of us. They need a better strategy for working with kids.

I went almost a year, with two Doctor's referring me and not being able to make the appointment because they kept saying they don't have the referral. . Multiple referrals were sent by each Doctor. When I called and got someone to answer, they didn't have the referral or I would call and would have to messages. I just went to an independent ENT. No referral neccessary. Everyone was pleasant. I am really not impressed with Penn State. I had high hopes and have been patient but I am just about over it. I am slowly getting some Five Star Docs but they are not PSH. They are independant. They are refrshingly old school. Care, empathy, respect, it's all there.

If I could give zero stars I would.
First appointment went OK, however they scheduled me for a hearing test, which was not discussed with me at my initial appointment. Never said you will be seeing a completely different doctor at your follow up appointment for this hearing test, what it would cost...nothing! I got a bill for $721.00 for this hearing test, which was not explained as a separate appointment from my follow up. Was even a separate office visit charge of $115.00, even though I was going for a follow up appointment to see Caitlin Kroon...when really I saw a completely different PA - Casey Nicole Graham. I waited over 3 months for my follow, thinking I was seeing the initial provider to go over my CT Scan and they didn't even have the images. Bottom line, follow up appointment a complete waste of time, they weren't prepared for me and they should have canceled my appointment. Instead, i waited 45 minutes for hearing test i did not ask for, to then end up with a PA that i had not planned on seeing, who was absolutely unhelpful. They are not organized at all, not prepared for patients and definitely need to be more detail oriented and descriptive with patients about tests, scheduling and follow up appointments. I would not recommend this office to anyone. Plus, if you are looking to have anything done at Penn State Hershey, do your research before any of your appointments and question every test in detail, because you will be billed separately for everything, it won't be just one office visit you think you are going too. It's very sneaky and shady. See photo below, 2 different office visit charges and 2 different doctor assessment fees!

We were given the choices of Hershey Medical Center or Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. We chose (against recommendation from our Pediatrician) to move forward with Hershey Medical Center. Never did we expect to encounter such a lack of professionalism or blatant disregard for our son’s health by the Doctors at Penn State Health. It took six months for our son to be seen in person due to our appointment being cancelled by Penn State Health and finally our Pediatrician calling in to advocate for an in-person visit in December. During this visit our notes stated the following, "Given his age the recommendation for now is to still proceed with sleep study which is scheduled in ~1 month. However, we will plan to discuss his case with Dr. Chung to see if we can prioritize his surgery or if we could consider foregoing sleep study.” We were informed that we would be contacted the following week with an update. A week and a half went by with no communication from anyone at the Hershey Medical Center ENT Department. We called in asking for an update and were informed that Dr. Chung still had not reviewed our sons visit information and we would receive a call back. At this time we had stated our sons condition seemed to be worsening and we were concerned. The very next day he ended up in the ER. During his evaluation it was noted that he presented with mild respiratory distress and had inspiratory stridor. His right tonsil was significantly enlarged and they were unable to visualize the posterior oropharynx at all. They immediately called into the ENT department at Hershey Medical Center where they spoke to a fellow who stated “The Parents are trying to force us into doing a tonsillectomy”. The ER doctor also noted that they felt that our concerns were appropriate and tried explaining to this fellow that the main concern was the obstruction from his tonsil. Hershey Medical Center did not think it was necessary to evaluate our son at this time, however Gettysburg wanted him to be seen by someone with a pediatric specialty and he was transferred by Ambulance to the Hershey Pediatric ER. The fact that a Doctor that had never spoken to us or had seen our child made a comment like this was uncalled for and completely unprofessional. The audacity for someone to make an accusation like that about us and to show no compassion or concern about the state of our child when he was transferred to Hershey was even more bothersome. Upon arrival at the Hershey ER they were informed that our sons O2 levels were in the low 80’s at points and yet again there was no concern. He had a CT scan done while at the Hershey Pediatric ER to rule out an abcess and was diagnosed with tonsillitis. We were told to follow-up with the Hershey Medical Center ENT the following day to discuss next steps. I spoke to Troy in the ENT department and he went above and beyond for us to get answers. This was the first time since being in the Hershey Medical Center that we felt someone was showing compassion and trying to genuinely help us. Unfortunately, Troy had to deliver the unpleasant news that yet again there was no concern for our child by the ENT Doctors at Hershey Medical Center. We have regretted the decision to use this medical facility for the care of our son and transferred to a new Doctor at Johns Hopkins and have received care above and beyond our expectations. Within a week of them seeing him, he had his surgery. Our sons sleep study results showed that he had severe obstructive apnea with O2 levels being at 70% for over an hour. As a parent it is disheartening and offensive that we trusted the Medical Professionals at Hershey Medical Center to help our son and to be accused of trying to push them into doing a surgery that was stated by them as necessary. The hospitals Mission Statement reads; Penn State Health is committed to providing excellent health care. We couldn’t disagree more.

I had an ear injury in June. Have been waiting on an appt since. Was finally scheduled for January. I patiently waited. Only to be called today and told I would have to be rescheduled...for an appt in Lancaster IN MARCH. Incomprehensible really.

They don’t answer and when they do they have an attitude. I take clients here that have developmental disabilities, I myself am not a patient here and never will be.
