UPMC Passavant - McCandless

just got released from here, i had stomach surgery and had to spend the night. i have been at a lot of hospitals, and passavant has been by far the nicest one ive been to. my nurses were so so nice to me! and i know that should be a given but ive had mean nurses elsewhere so being treated very nice was awesome. even the night nurses were very patient and so kind to me! the xray technicians were very patient and kind to me as well. i have very bad anxiety and everyone made sure to tend to me correctly. everything seemed very clean as well!

Everytime we have needed the ER, they have always treated my daughter great. They do everything they can to make sure they have answers. Yesterday took her to another hospital and they did nothing. Today took her to UPMC Passavent and they did what we needed to get answers and figure out what was going on. Great nurses and staff.

I am currently in Passavant after having surgery on my neck. I am from New Castle and Jamison is getting better after UPMC took it over. But....they can learn a lot from the nurses and support staff at Passavant. I read the other reviews before coming here and I agree. This has been the best experience at a hospital and I have been to many of the UPMC facilities.

My husband had surgery here, and the entire experience was flawless. The communication was excellent throughout; I/we knew exactly where to go, where he was, and in what stage at all times. The room was immaculate and comfortable for him and me. The nurses that we had were exemplary. We both feel fortunate to have received such excellent care. This can not happen without excellent management, and excellent employees. You cannot have the experience we had without both pieces. Thank you to all!

My fiancée had gallbladder surgery at passavant a few weeks ago. We were so happy with the care he got. All the nurses and doctors were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a better care team.

The people are so helpful in getting you headed in the right direction if you're lost, so don't hesitate to ask! The hospital is beautiful and has flowers blooming throughput the grounds. Walking around before my appointment calmed me down. Now off to the doctor's office!!

I had cancer surgery here six years ago and had excellent care. Someone from the dietary department came to talk with me about what I liked and didn’t like to eat. She was trying to accommodate me after major surgery. The lady who cleaned my room every day talked with me and was very friendly and helpful. I also had an outstanding surgeon.
Dr Celebrezze and the OR team got me through a big surgery. Thank you all!!

Wonderful experience with a phlebotomist here getting lab work done. I will absolutely make the drive here again for bloodwork.

The results also came in shockingly quick.

I get that there is a worker shortage, but be professional and manage expectations for your ER patients - if you know it’s going to be 4-5 hours to get a room then tell us that - don’t say, we will get you in a room very soon. Still waiting with my 92-year old mom - going on 6 hours.
So, I wrote this the night in the ER where I gave UPMC Passavant 2 stars, then my mom got moved into an ER room and then a room upstairs and I have to change that 2 stars to 5 stars. The nurses were absolutely fantastic - so thorough, pleasant and listened to our needs. What a different experience - my mom is in good hands and I really appreciate the staff!!

The staff here is well above board..
The care my wife is receiving is outstanding, they seem to want to go the extra mile to make the stay as comfortable as possible.. I'm very impressed .. thanks guys

I went to the emergency room after being sent there from Urgent Care. The woman at the check-in window at Passavant’s ER I was extremely kind and considerate of my situation. She saw that there was a note from urgent care that I was being sent over to them and she got me checked in and I was immediately taken back to be seen with no wait time. The nurses who checked my vitals and talking about my room were also kind and helpful regardless of how busy they were. The person who checked me out in my room and took care of my situation was named Erin. I can’t recall if she’s a nurse practitioner or what her title was, however, she was the nicest person I have ever come into contact with at any hospital. I couldn’t be more grateful for how she treated me . I know she was busy based on how many people were in the waiting room when I got there, but she gave me her undivided attention and time even though my situation was quite minor. She never wants made me feel like I was taking up too much of her time. She even looked over studies to give me an idea of how long it would be that I would be dealing with the immobility in my hand . I was in and out of the emergency room very quickly, and she wrapped my arm up for me and sent me on my way with peace of mind. I thank Erin very much for her time and kindness. 🙂

I normally don't do reviews but in this case I will make an exception. I spent 5 days in passavant for blood clots in my leg and a herniated disc. The time I spent there I was in severe pain. The staff all the way from the house keepers to head of the nursing and the doctors and technicians were the most caring people I have ever encountered. Really good people.

This was the best experience at a hospital I have ever had. From the kind people in the ER waiting room who brought around water and warm blankets. All the nurses, doctors, and all other medical professionals and staff from the time I was admitted to the ER through my 2 and a half week hospital stay there were amazing! I can’t thank them enough for all they did for me and the true care they showed! I even had some nursing students with their teacher take care of me and even the students were great for just starting out! If you’re in need of care I would definitely recommend UPMC Passavant in McCandles!

UPMC Passavant - McCandless is a hospital campus with multiple buildings and almost 400 beds, and it treats a wide variety of medical diagnoses. The campus has an emergency room, nursing units, cancer center, heart and vascular institute, primary care offices, an imaging center, and many other departments. For the past couple of years, I have visited this campus to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist and a gynecologist and to receive a mammogram at Magee-Womens Imaging. The buildings and offices look newly remodeled, and most of the staff members have been polite to me.

Just spent four days between UPMC - McCandless and Cranberry Twp. I just have to say this has to be the best hospital experience in my 65 years of life. The emergency room personnel in Cranberry did an outstanding job quickly getting to my problem.I also spent one night in Cranberry hospital and again outstanding! Everyone was very helpful, prompt, kind and great to be around.

UPMC McCandless heart center personnel Dr. Baumgartner and his colleagues did an outstanding job, I would recommend this heart center to anyone needing help! I spent two nights here in the hospital, everyone I came in contact with did an outstanding job. Everyone was very helpful, prompt, kind and great to be around.

I recently had a lung resection and was in ICU. Every single person in that area were the nicest and most helpful. They were was giving me encouragement and help. The food was good and the rooms were clean. It was one of the best visits I have ever had at a hospital.

On 12/9/22 I went to Passavant Hospital for surgery on my inguinal hernia. Dr Motto performed the surgery, great guy with good bedside manner.

But I especially want to address some people that made my experience a pleasant one considering the circumstances.

The first person was Christina in pre-op. It was 4:45AM and her attitude was wonderful. I'm what's considered a "hard stick" regarding the insertion of the IV. I told her about it and she was perfect, didn't hurt and she got it in the vain on the first try!

Next was Taylor, still in pre-op. Again very early in the morning but you couldn't tell by her attitude. She had a sense of humor and was very compassionate while finishing me up for the OR.

Now, post-op recovery. Elizabeth was my nurse. We had trouble with my blood oxygen level, pain, and a bit of nausea. I was in recovery for almost 4 hours! Elizabeth was as compassionate and as kind right to the very end as she was in the beginning. I really have to thank her for that as I feel she went above and beyond. At one point she said she had to take a lunch break and asked another nurse to watch me. She was back in about 12 minutes. I jokingly asked if she even tasted her lunch. She laughed and said she wanted to get back.

Finally out of recovery and into the last room for discharge. Lisa was my nurse. Yet another wonderful person full of kindness and compassion. Very thorough with all of my discharge instructions.

There were a few other people I encountered throughout the day. Each was as pleasant as the first, right down to the last lady (Jackie or Natalie) who wheeled me out. She also brought me a Dreamsicle ice cup which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Long review I know but I wanted to recognize everyone that day who made a difference for my sake.

Dr. Rice has an excellent bedside manner. And nurse Maddie is a sweetheart. Very impressed and highly recommend hospital.

My mother was in UPMC Passavant for a few days after an operation. The nurses and caregivers were very prompt, kind, and generous. They made sure she was as comfortable as possible and paid close attention to her recovery. The food was also decent, unlike most other hospitals. Her doctors were also cream of the crop. No one wants to be in the hospital, but if you have to go, UPMC Passavant is one of the best rated and the nursing staff is the best I have ever seen.

I was transported to Passavant from another hospital for evaluation. I can’t say enough about the folks here. Professional, yet endearing. Kind and fun to talk with. I’d spent 58 hours holding in another facility and when I arrived here, it was like a breath of fresh air. Thank you Nurse Kim, Nurse Kayley, Technician Rob, and Nurse Ian. Also Doctor G (Gangavarupu) Doctor Wang and Doctor Parepally. I felt confident in your care for me and your bedside manners are impeccable. The food is very tasty and a wide menu is available if one feels good enough to eat. Batula from housekeeping was a lovely ray of sunshine and kept my room clean and tidy.
I will feel very comfortable bringing someone I love to this hospital. Superb care from start to finish. Beautiful grounds and very clean environment.
