Secondhand Prose

Wonderful place to find good books and their donation model made this a fantastic experience. Everything was well organized and sorted with a diverse selection of fiction and nonfiction. We also were able to bring our well behaved dog inside and she was greeted with a bowl of fresh water. You can’t ask for a better book-buying experience!

What a lovely bookstore. There was a large selection and everything is well-organized. I had a nice chat with the volunteers who were very helpful and thoughtful gave me suggestions for places in town to visit.

Lovely store! Has a great selection and you never know what you will find. It's like a treasure hunt! They keep it well organized. Book prices are by donation which is really nice of them to make books accessible to everyone. They take donations of books which is great also!

Wonderful staff (volunteers?)helped me choose some good reads. All the books are bought by donation. I love that our community has this available.

Wonderful, comfortable little place to get books at reasonable prices. Volunteers are very friendly - highly recommended!!

NOTE: I called the St. J. Atheneum and was told they are temporarily closed due to COVID. The bookstore is an annex of the library.

Not much selection.
Weird hours.
Clerk promised free bag with purchase of children's books. Paid more than listed price for a few books as clerk said book prices were "by donation". She then asked me if I wanted the free bag and told me goodbye when I said yes. Maybe she misunderstood me, but I was disappointed with the whole experience.
