The Penguin

I have lived in Bethany for 15 years and have has a 40 year history of coming here but this was the first time I tried Penguin! It blew away my misconceptions. The good was fresh, delish and the place is super cute! Staff were great! Loved it!

This is a fantastic restaurant. Came here for breakfast. The food was incredible. The blueberry pancakes were perfect in every way. I got the Andy’s Breakfast wrap and it was very good. I only wish it had an additional protein in it since the entire wrap is mainly egg. Beyond that it was great. We also got the Robins Wrap and the person eating it was very happy with it.

Definitely coming back to the penguin.

What a great breakfast spot. I got the Andy's wrap with eggs. Super yummy. My husband got the pancakes, there were three and as big as his plate. Great staff. Super atmosphere. Food was hot and served quick.

1st things first....get the homemade poptart!! I've walked past this place 500 times in 15 years and never went in....shame on me.....Vermont syrup, Vermont Chedder... OMG...I've been a fool..... I want to try 4 other things on the menu....Can't wait till I go again!

Breakfast, lunch and adult bev's. Who could ask for more. How about friendly service. They have it! Cute and kitchy for sure. Food options are not many, but that's a good thing. This is not a 24 hr. Diner. Coffee, even the decaf was enjoyable. We kept our menu choices simple, I wished we'd had try to be more adventurous. Maybe next time, we'll be back.

Delicious food! Second visit to The Penguin, and again, impressed with the food and service. The Greek omelette was wonderful; full of fresh ingredients. Burger looked incredible and my husband said it was very tasty. Nice looking, clean atmosphere. Good service. Highly recommend.

Delicious Chesapeake omelet with an icy cold, perfectly brewed ice tea. I was really impressed with my server, Julia, who was on the ball about every little detail including bringing additional ice in case the freshly made ice tea wasnt cool enough to making sure I had condiments on the table prior to my food coming out. The omelet was served quickly, and was piping hot. Julia was prompt with drink refills and checking to make sure everything was delicious. I highly recommend!

High quality ingredients and clean environment. Menu is not huge but has great variety of options. Can't really go wrong here as there is something for everyone in yoyr party.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Good food and wonderful service. Just wish they offered smaller portions.

Adorable spot nestled right on the main strip in Bethany Beach. We went for breakfast- they had great variety and the prices were reasonable. We were seated right away at about 9:30am on a Wednesday in August and the waitstaff were friendly and polite. I had the Greek omelette- loads of olives and not too much feta. The potatoes were the star though, crispy and delicious! Coffee was yummy too!

Overall, a decent breakfast place with the cute touches (they have children's place mat art on the cover of their menus) you can only find down the shore.

Great food, just yummy. We were there for breakfast yesterday and lunch the day before. Nice omelettes, crisp home fries, perfectly-done bacon; for lunch I had a tasty chopped salad topped with chunks of crabmeat. I happened to be cold and asked the manager to shut off the ceiling fan...no issue at all, he immediately complied. Service was right on time and good. We'll be back.

Even though it was a crowded Sunday morning in Bethany, everything was easy, quick and tasty. Being able to join the waitlist on line meant we could meander over to The Farmers Market until our table was ready. Our server, Julia had four tables sat in her section all at the same time. Was this a problem? NOPE!

We ran her through the Server Olympics - hot sauce, ketchup, more butter, extra Diet Coke, add a bacon order to go, bring us a box and make it snappy. She did! And she was super friendly and nice about it. Lucky them to have her.

Excellent food and service. My waitress, Guilia was very helpful and attentive. I had the Spinach, Mushroom and Swiss Omelette which was so savory and delicious. The Whole Wheat bread with Raspberry jam was lovely and healthy. Coffee mugs keep the good Joe hot. It is my too-go spot when I want to spoil myself!

Amazing fresh food with local, organic ingredients, we had a party of 8 and were seated almost immediately on a Saturday late morning in July.

Chloe was the best server, her section was full but you couldn’t even tell, she was super attentive. Also the food was delicious!! After a long week of getting sub par service and sub par food The Penguin was such a treat.

I love the Halloumi Cheese appetizer & their crushes are excellent!!

This is a classic shore area restaurant which we visited for breakfast. I had an omelette loaded with crab meat that was out of this world. We also both enjoyed their obviously home made homefries!

Over the years, we have never, ever had anything but the best experiences here. Fantastic food, kind people, and wonderful atmosphere. We wait every year to return to this, our favorite place! The best!

Just finished a wonderful breakfast at The Penguin. Everything was delicious! The French toast, wraps and omelettes! Servers were wonderful as was the homey atmosphere! Can’t wait to go back!

Having been to the Penquin for the past 12 years, it is absolutely awesome how the new owner's Jen and Lee McCleod have over the past 8 years have turned this fabulous restaurant into a destination must have for anyone coming to Bethany.
The food, service and management are outstanding. Kudos to them! Thank you so much for being in the community!
