Deer Park Tavern

The place is great, and the food is awesome.

We were a group of 7 people, and the pizza and French fries they served tasted good. For dessert, we had an ice cream sandwich with cookies that was the best I've had in Newark. Although we didn't opt for beer, others in our group were quite satisfied with the beer and snacks. The most attractive aspect of the restaurant is the decoration, including a roaster they've placed in a display box.

We were served well and taken care of.

I recommend this place.

I'd like to start off by saying our waitress was awesome, the food tasted great, and the atmosphere was as I remember it - typical old time bar type.

I've gotta say, though, it puts a bad taste in my mouth when an establishment charges $1.00 for cheese? Did I read the menu correctly? For real? My gut tells me most people want cheese on their burgers and you'd come off as less petty if you just included the cheese in the price you charge. It kind of overshadowed the rest of the food.

The pretzels were excellent and the mustard awesome.
The burgers were good, as were the French fries.
The French onion soup was good.

Would I go back? Maybe sometime.

One of the only Originals still at University of Delaware Main Street. Great atmosphere with lots of History. Can be busy at times so reservations are recommended Plus parking can be difficult if lot is full but always a good experience especially on a nice day upstairs on the deck. Food can be a little pricey but always comes out hot.

Old building from the 1800s, as the original building from the 1700s burned down, and it’s a classic tavern atmosphere with lots of brick and wood. Great menu with plenty of sandwiches and burgers. $5 off burgers on Tuesday so I tried the classic with provolone and fried onions, and it was really good, and the steak sandwich on ciabatta was excellent. Great service and fair prices.

I have been going to Deer Park for the past few years and love it! The food, service and atmosphere are amazing. My daughter (a UD student who also loves Deer park) and I go there and meet up there each week for dinner and can’t think of another place we would rather go. We love Juice, Ryan and Jayme just to name a few of their amazing bartenders. They are always so friendly and make our experience even more enjoyable. If you’re a student, or just visiting town or even a local (like I’ve become lol), there’s something for everyone!

Great place to hold events we had a great time and the location has a lot of free parking. I would definitely go back and bring more people.

Tiffany was an amazing bartender really had our best intentions in mind recommend drinks to us. First time here and we are so excited to come back!

Good food, great beer selection (including some local exclusives) and superb service.
We have frequented this Newark landscape for years, and service and quality has been consistent... But the floor is no longer as sticky as it used to be!!
Great brunch year-round... And great atmosphere for every occasion. Work events or small parties can be held upstairs!!

yum. came here for a team lunch and left with a full stomach and a satisfied appetite. the cheesesteak was slightly dry and i could have preferred more cheese but nevertheless, as a mushroom fanatic, it still tasted scrumptious. i even included three photos from different angles to showcase the beauty of this cheesesteak. moreover, the fries were delicious. and don’t even get me started on the pretzels. i have never eaten a pretzel more soft and buttery. 100/10 would come every day if i lived nearby.

Everyone on staff seemed in good spirits. The DJ playing in the upstairs dance area was fantastic! I look forward to returning.

Have been going there for years. Ordered the farmhouse Burger and it was delicious as usual. My parents ordered the fried clams and they too were delicous if you are in newark and want good american food then please stop by the deer park tavern

Went for our 40th college reunion (yes you read that right!!)...got there around 6:30, no one was there except a small group of us. Set up shop at some high top tables and the rest of the group got there between 7:00 and 8:00. Had a good selection of beers and some good appetizers. Had a great waitress...Ellen was her name. At around 10:00, all the "kids" showed up. It was great to see that the Deer Park is still the place to go!! We plan on going back sooner than 40 years!!

Old timey 1800s hotel that excels as a local pub for both the Newark crowd and Blue Hen student body. My Buffalo Wing Egg Roll was outstanding and the bar tending staff was super attentive and fast af. went back for the Farmhouse Burger, and it was perfectly prepared. I'm still calling, Best Burger in Newark.

First time here and was in the area for business. College town, so lots of places to visit. This place was terrific for lunch, and the food and service were spot on. If I was local I'd be back!

Best local place I've been to in years. Great food, atmosphere is amazing, and the service is fantastic. They serve the best root beer in the country, a locally brewed brand called Dominion from down in Dover. Absolutely delicious. Paired with the atmosphere, you won't regret your experience here, especially earlier in the day.

Great place for a group to hang out. Outside seating and dining area. Two floors of bar areas. Great service.

One of the oldest Bars in Newark DE. The food is authentic. Bloody Mary tastes great try out the chef specials for sure.

Was only there for a State Representative's constituent meeting early on a workday morning prior to normal opening hours. Looks like it did fifty years ago when I was an undergrad at U of D.

Half price burgers each Wednesday, nice historical sport bar on the Main street in Newark. Popular for lunch and evening weekends.
