Largest library around, although they are CLOSED all day Thursday so heads up. The people who work here are very helpful. Patrons here are of the older demographic so it's always super quiet even for a library. Only complaint is the bathroom toilets flush weird so that toilet paper often gets caught in the bowl and is unaffected by the water flow.

My favorite library. Big windows and lots of community events. Staff is wonderful and helpful. They even have a 3D printer on the second floor now, though I don’t know the specifics about how to use it. Located right next to a playground and park with walking trails, tennis courts, and picnic tables! A wonderful place to spend an afternoon.

We love the library because they offer community support in the form of classes, children's programing and lots of fun books!

Such a big library! Two floors and a huge kids section. There were lots of different work and reading spaces spread around.

Love this library! Even if they don’t have the book you want, they’ll mail it there super quickly so you can pick it up. There’s lots of seats and private rooms you can rent. They also have a lot of events for children, it’s nice to see the community so active in their local library.

Loved the fact when the librarians saw a line, they all came over to help. Made my whole day. Thought I was going to be there for a while. I was out of there in a flash.

Quiet, wonderful place to work with a large selection of books. I love that one can sign out a study room and have it for 2 hours or more. Also love the kids explore room and all the activities the library hosts for kids.

Good place to study, also offers great programs for writers/readers!

Also, if you're complaining about the ADA because you have to wear a mask, New Castle County Libraries actually offer a Book Buddies program where they drop off books to those with disabilities that prevent them from coming in person to the library :) I would consider checking that out before driveling on about lawsuits

To all the people leaving 1-star reviews whining about the mask requirement: grow up! People like you all don't deserve to go into a nice library like this anyway, and frankly, we don't need you here. Quit harassing the nice folks working here and go back home and complain on your brainless Facebook groups about the "government tyranny."

Anyway, very nice, well kept library. Great assortment of books, and a quiet space to get work done as well.

I’ve gone to this library since I was a kid and they have a HUGE selection of books. Something for everyone. They are also in a large system so if Brandywine Hundred doesn’t have what you want, odds are they can get it for you in a few days! Their online system is also very easy to use. Only criticism is that if you live out of state you have to pay a yearly membership fee.

It has the best chess club in the state of Delaware. Players range in strength from beginners to state champions. 50+ chess players on some Friday nights! It is open every Friday from 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Best of all its free! A hidden gem.

The Brandywine Chess Club has moved to 503 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19809

Absolutely gorgeous library. This is the best non-university public library I've ever been in.

SEATING:
Lots of comfy chairs to sit and read in.
Lots of desks with outlets to study at.
Small private rooms for study groups.
A dedicated quiet room for solo studiers.

SELECTION:
Fantastic reference section with up to date building codes.
Excellent book culling strategies, nothing old & useless sticks around.
Generous book purchasing budget; requests are fulfilled!
Many periodicals on all topics.

ARCHITECTURE:
Glorious views out massive windows.
Lovely staircase.
Children's section is on the ground floor, reference & study areas on second flor, this separation is SO NICE, there aren't kids running around desks!
There's a toasty gas fireplace to read by!

CULTURE:
Helpful staff.
Many community events, clubs, meetings.
There's a movie night! How great is that!?

TECHNOLOGY
Great wifi,
automated print system, runs off swipe cards,
public PC access, runs off cards BUT also available to guests!
even some limited copy services! Very painless!

Great place! Love the kid book bundles to grab for younger kids if you are running in for a book or two for yourself/that are on hold. Easy to navigate.

Five gender-neutral bathrooms, helpful staff, large selection, comfortable seating, plenty of computers. Homeschooling families can find lots of support here from the children's librarians.

Last night Tom Leitch led a excellant and enjoyable presentation on the subject of how to read the news. He encourages us to become super critical thinkers. He will be doing ten more engagements throughout the state. Seek him out. A great evening.

Great library and they sponsor one of the largest chess clubs on the east coast! The club gets on average 50+ players every Friday evening.
