I can't say enough good about this place. I was working in Newark for two weeks, tried a lot of different establishments since I essentially had to eat out every night. Home Grown really stuck with me. From the moment I was greeted, seated, to being handed the receipt, it was wonderful. Their portions are very generous and I couldn't really walk too well when I left, lol. I started with the southwestern chili, which ate like a meal in it's self. Then, onto the roast beef club, which was about twice the size I anticipated. I still wanted dessert, though. I tried their dark chocolate budino. Had my mind set on that before I ordered. I'll be driving back up to Home Grown again despite living 75 miles away.

While visiting my mom, she tells me about this place so we decide to go. I can't get over how right she was. The amount of vegan and veggie options was refreshing, the staff couldn't have been nicer, and the atmosphere was actually pleasant to look at. Gabe and Sam did a great job with helping my daughter have a good time (she's young and doesn't take to restaurants well). Even my father, who has never given a better compliment than "I liked it" and "This was good" had to rave about the Apple Cider Fritter Sundae.

When I read through the other reviews and see 4 stars with no complaints, it just makes me wonder what restaurants get 5 stars. I've gone to multiple Michel Star restaurants that couldn't accommodate for my daughter, seat 5 people, or have enough veggie options to make a multi course veggie meal for my mom.

Maybe I've just been unlucky before and today was my lucky day, but I'll spread the luck. My whole family had a wonderful time and that's worth 5 stars every time.

Stopped in for lunch today on our way to Costco...from start to finish everything was fantastic. We started with the Kennet Square mushroom soup. The flavor was incredible and the sherry had amazing notes as well. We then shared the smoked sweet potato hummus, which was so creamy and smooth. I actually preferred this over traditional Hummus. We finished our meal with the Beet Salad topped with blackened chicken. The chicken paired very nicely with the goat cheese and the dressing was just perfection with sweet hints without being too overpowering! Will definitely come back again when in the area.

Really great atmosphere, great food, our server was lovely. We ordered nachos, a regular banh mi and a gluten free banh mi, with the house made chips and sweet potato fries, it was all excellent, very pleased with the huge gluten free and vegan selections.

The staff were very kind and accommodating to allow us to sit outside with our dogs. One of the few places in Newark that is dog friendly.

We drove an hour to visit This place for some good vegan food. It didn’t disappoint! So many vegan options. Even vegan wine.. the staff was super friendly. But the vegan tater tots were to die for. Worth the drive

Service was great. All the food came out fast as hell and was awesome. The gravy on the tater tot poutine was incredible. Really didn't have one bad dish here. They originally told us the wait for 3 people was 1hr 15min. Put our name down and got a call in 10 min. Lol. If that's my only "complaint" I will take it!

Environment: We sat outside on their patio and it was a really nice experience. We had just finished a long walk in the hot weather and we’re able to sit near a fan to cool off. The area was very cute and clean.

Customer Service: The waitress was nice and attentive. She would check in us periodically and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal.

Food/Drinks: The food and drinks were delicious! We all were super happy with our meals and the drinks we chose. I don’t remember exactly what we all got but I remember the cheesy fries being popular and I loved the mussels that I ordered.

Overall, it was a good experience. We all had fun and even had a few laughs with the server! I definitely recommend this place if you’re in the area and looking for delicious and unique food options.

I love this place - I go out of my way any time I’m traveling in this area to visit and get a haul for takeout. So many fantastic vegan options - I love the Mac (regular or pumpkin, depending on the season), gardenator burger, beet wrap, and banh mi, to name a few. The staff is super nice and parking is simple on the side streets.

The food was great! The bar tender who designed the cocktail my wife ordered came out to check if she was enjoying it. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed.

Omg when I say those crabby fries SLAPPED!! They were so good! I got huevos rancheros. Also, buffalo chicken and waffles. I really liked the portion sizes and it was all under great prices. It hit the spot. Definitely a great brunch place.

Home Grown is not just the name, but the Menu!! Every dish was so fresh and delicious! Even the bottled Strawberry Lemonade was naturally sweet, super refreshing and not sugary at all. This is definitely a great place for a tasty, freshly made meal. My next visit there I'll be sitting on the outdoor patio enjoying a mimosa for brunch 🥂

Home Grown is great for vegans. We’ve gone here a few times in our first month in Delaware. They are great with kids, have an amazing brunch menu and awesome apps for vegans.

The menu has a wide variety of options (from burgers to Asian noodle bowls) with plenty of choices for vegetarians and gluten sensitive people. The atmosphere is casual and the artwork is fun, you'll often see a lot of the local college crowd inside. The Tot-chos are a MUST-TRY and stop by for happy hour!

This place was wonderful. We were greeted outside as I was reading the menu and was not disappointed. I was looking for a great vegan spot during my travel through Newark and found a place that I will come back to! Thank you for the great food, service and hospitality.

Homegrown is one of my favorite places on Main St.
The food is phenomenal, the menu changes with the season and the additions are always fantastic! They've got some pretty great deals going on most of the days and have a great bar scene as well. If you're in Delaware, you HAVE to try the Dirty Burger 🍔

We went for brunch on Sunday. The server was friendly and very fast with service. We got the mimosas and we didn't have to ask for refills on it, she had them coming right on time. The food was delicious, the booths were comfy and spacious, and the decor was nice. Parking was super easy in the lot behind the restaurant. We'll definitely be coming back.

This artsy vegetarian friendly location is truly a large part of why I knew Newark, DE and the University of Delaware were the places for me. Both times I visited the university before committing, I knew for certain the place to eat was Home Grown. The large menu, adorably artsy atmosphere, and the versatility of the food perfect for any diet create an unforgettable experience!
