excellent fish fry on Fridays. Everything you'd expect from a local watering hole -- cheap cold beer & locals in a quant environment. Bartenders are always on point.

Don't come here for craft beer or mixed drinks. If you're ready to pay for a fancy establishment, this isn't your place.

But for a local friendly simple bar, this place gets 5 stars.

You want some good bluegill fish go there on a Friday night.

My wife and I came for the fish fry. Ordered the Cod and Perch. Perch was amazing. So good. Cod was fine. Oily but fresh. The staff here is incredibly nice. It's a small bar. Be prepared to squeeze by folks. It's a cool spot to visit though and eat good fried fish. I recommend.

Love the blackened fish tacos on Friday night!! All the bartenders are very personable and fun to joke around with. Which makes it an excellent neighborhood pub without the neighborhood!!!

***Update***!! We have been back to this great place a couple of different Friday's for the "All You Can Eat Cod." So delicious!! My boyfriend ate 16 pieces the first time!!!!! If you are in the area give them a try, you will keep returning!!!

Dinner...haven't had fish that good since I was a a kid growing up in good ol' Wisconsin. Not to mention the bartender/server, Janet. She is an ABSOLUTE treasure. Loved her the minute she came to our table. We are both Janet's & of Polish heritage ..need I say more!

Very nice, small, cozy place. Food is great, prepared right behind the bar as it should be. It is that neighborhood bar and grill, doesn't just feel it. Wait staff and patrons, as always are the intrical part of the equation that makes this a great place.

I guess if I could give FREDDIE'S WEST END in Lake Geneva 5 stars, I can do this for COLEMAN'S. (Crystal Lake only). Both places are small "hole in the wall" bars and restaurants. Both have very limited seating. Both only have a fish fry on Friday. But both have the best fried fish I have had anywhere in the Chicagoland area. We went especially for the "bluegills" which is something VERY FEW restaurants offer anywhere in this area. Also, they both serve exceptional choices of other fish that you won't find just anywhere. Both places will bread and cook your fish to order if you ask. Both offer very good potato pancakes, though Freddie's is definitely the winner here. WARNING. !! Do not go to either place unless you can tolerate a noisy bar type atmosphere. If you are looking for pretentious surroundings, best stay away from either place. But the waitstaff at either place are nice and very accomodating. And finally, the prices !! - - - - $11.99 for any type of fish at Freddie's and $12.95 for most fish choices at COLEMAN'S, who does have an "all you can eat" choice as well. Both places are a little out of the way but it makes a nice road trip if nothing else. I doubt seriously if you will be disappointed in the food at either place.

Hands down best fish fry in Crystal lake - and the most affordable. Try the potato pancakes, they certainly aren't homemade but delicious nonetheless.

Been looking for a decent burger in McHenry county for ages. Tried the usuals, dc Cobb, twisted burger, etc... Those failed, but this place is ON POINT!!! FINALLY FOUND THE BEST BURGER IN THE AREA!!!
