This is probably my new favorite spot in Minneapolis. I'm a huge tea lover and this hits everything you could possibly want. The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Staff is always ready and willing to talk about tea, provide recommendations, and seem to always go above and beyond with any question I may have. Every tea I've tried so far has been delicious of course and there's a lot more to try! Great place to come alone or with a friend for a relaxing day.

I'm so glad I found this gem! I really enjoy trying new teas and this is the perfect place to do it! The menu lists their matcha from most approachable to more challenging. The matcha options at the top tend to be really creamy (without any milk, it's just water and matcha!), and further down the list they tend to get grassier and more bitter. There are also black, green, oolong, pu'er, and herbal teas that you can get in a gongfu set. It's nice to just take 60-90 minutes re-steeping the tea and relaxing in the beautiful tea house.

They have some snacks like mochi and pastries, but unfortunately I don't think any were vegan. I hope they add some vegan options so I can snack while sipping tea.

Fantastic ambiance and affordable authentic teas! It’s fun to watch them craft the drink in front of you. Mochi was just ok.

I just happened upon this place with a couple of friends and I’m glad we found it. The ambiance is great, as it reminds me of a mixture of Chinese and Japanese tea shops, with drink offerings from both cultures (matcha, pu’er, etc). There are also sweets that you can enjoy. I tried the flight of pu’er tea, which was an arrangement of three different types and they were all delicious. They have a no electronics policy which is kinda great. Staff was friendly too.

An impressive selection of house-milled matcha served traditionally. All were splendid! 🍵They also have a tea flight! A must-visit if you like tea!

Such a zen place with a ton of tea options! They encourage limited use of screens, which beautifully commits to the zen vibe. There are hot, electric kettles at every table. If I still lived in the area, I would be there daily. Come here to unplug and indulge in delicious teas.

Friendly staff, relaxing ambiance, affordable prices, and tasty drinks/desserts. Street parking is available as well as a parking garage behind with low fees.

This is a hidden gem. You enter and you instantly feel zen. There was a large table where you can sit on the floor, and this was perfect for our large group. Selection of tea was large, and the one we picked were traditional and delicious. The method to serve the tea allows to take our time. The atmosphere is so relaxed and calm. Loved it!

A treasure here in Minneapolis. The tea is delicious and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. The fresh milled matcha is divine and the mochi pairs well. You HAVE to try a gonfu tasting and stop by for one of their special events. This is a great place to relax alone or meet up for some chill time with friends.

I've been to many traditional tea shops, and this is a shop that does great gongfu tea. Tea options are plentiful and flavorful. Very happy tea drinker today!

This place is amazing. It’s quiet, cozy, and low key. The tea offerings are on point. It’s also so nice to sit in a place where others are actually conversing with one another and not hiding behind screens and headphones.

Such a calm, relaxing place to spend an hour or two catching up with a friend. The mochi was delightful. The first thing I said after we sat down was “I hope this place never closes!” I’ll be back soon. 🍡

The best matcha I've had outside of Japan. The mochi sweets are delicious. The space is beautiful. The selection of matcha/tea and supplies for your own home are quality. Relaxing with elements that remind you of a traditional Japanese tea house. We will definitely be coming back again.

What a GREAT addition to Nordeast!

We both ordered the House-Milled Matcha and it was OUTSTANDING! This is not a tea I would normally order and I am now hooked - it was light and delicious (not sweet like you may assume if you know about matcha latte's). Additionally we ordered the mochi which is not made in-house the owner told us, but still good (maybe an aspirational goal to have it made locally...?).

The inside of Northeast Tea House is lovely, calming, relaxing, and aesthetically pleasing. The closest you may come to being in a spa right now ~ so lovely.

Covid Notes: We had planned to get our tea to go as we have not sat inside a restaurant since pre-covid days, but we risk assessed and decided to stay. On their website they have clearly outlined their covid procedures, one of which is a special air cleaning system. With that in mind, the fact the door was open, and that there was only one other couple inside (besides the owners), we had half the place to ourselves. In addition, the owners are wearing masks, all of us customers were wearing masks when not eating or drinking (thank you other couple). Additionally, the owner was going above and beyond with cleaning surfaces (which we haven't seen happening at other places that claim they have covid precautions in place), we really took note and appreciated that!

We can not wait to go back. In post-covid times we see this as a regular hang out for our weekly disconnected fika.

Beautiful space. Tranquil and soothing. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The tea was very good. I could not recommend this place more highly. It will become one of my regular stops when I need to take a beat from the world.

When I want to go to a tea house and read/process/ or just meditate, Northeast Tea House is exactly the place I have in mind. They even have their own tea subscription service AND a tea mill to match matcha. WHAT?! I wish tea was more popular in my area as I think it'd be a great fit. Nevertheless, Northeast Tea has plenty of options for you to try as well as a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy it.

Very welcoming staff and an excellent space to escape the world for a while! I went by myself and brought along a book and had an amazing time sitting at the community table and taking in the space. The staff were very helpful with getting me and the people around me set up with their gong fu tea set. I hope to be back very soon!

This place is expanding my love of tea. I highly recommend trying one of the Tea Classes Simon leads on Saturday mornings to get familiar with many different kinds of teas.

Wonderful place and friendly staff!
