Went for octoberfest, thought the maybe bear mountain area was better suited, but this location was nice. Not sure what such a huge parking lot is used for, love to hear what else goes on there.

Huge lot allowed for a perfect place to sleep after being on the road. Quiet and safe.

Nice venue to celebrate an Oktoberfest. Lots of bands, plenty of parking, bring your stein from a previous event for a discount on the beer. We paid $15 to park. Entrance to the event was no charge. Dog friendly!

Based on the reviews I read, I had low expectations going to the Oktoberfest @ Anthony Wayne Rec area. I was pleasantly surprised and truly enjoyed the afternoon with freshly brewed beer and authentic tasted snacks. No individual entrance fee, but parking is $10 per car. If you bring your own stein 1L beer costs $14. Giant pretzel that cost $8 is worth every bite :) there was long line for food at a later time but the line for beer was never a concern as it was always short. I will definitely come back next year - something to add to list of things to do during fall :)

A great park to visit. Bring a picnic or just take a slow walk and breathe in the fresh air.

Pleasant, quiet recreation area for relaxation and picnicking. Avoid the crowds at nearby Bear Mountain.

This is a lovely place to hike. At least my third time there. Lots of parking which is always a plus for hiking groups.

So glad the rec area was finally opened after being closed during the pandemic. It's a beautiful drive on Seven Lakes Dr to get there. Plenty of parking and finally you can get Verizon service. You cannot get thru with T Mobile. No cash payments for food, use debit or credit cards. Liked the bouncy houses for the younger children. The tent was about a football length, plenty of sitting room. I enjoyed the Jimmy Sturr Orchestra!!

Easier accessibility from the Saw Mill Parkway using exit 17. Often there are terrific events occurring, especially on the weekends, so check their website.

My favorite is:
Bear Mountain Native American Celebration

by Redhawk Native American Arts Council. First weekend in August.

Had a great time at the Pow-Wow. Please be aware there is no longer a pool here.

Visited after Veterans' Day. The armed forces of men and women were doing a superb job of organizing long lines of cars for covid testing. They were efficient in a most gracious manner. Usually we tend to think that military efficient doesn't match graciousness but these men and women in uniform proved otherwise.

We actually went there for covid tests. It was so well organized and there was barely any wait. The sign up process was a little stressful but once we got there everything went really well. I would highly recommend using that testing site if you need to get a covid test done.
