Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Our first time here. We will be back. Great food. Extremely friendly server. Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious. We got great service and he even took extra time to interact with our 3 year old and make sure she was comfortable and happy!

This weekend was my first time on the restaurant side of the business. Our meal was fantastic! The chips and cheese app was hot and fresh and the BBQ we had was great. I had the jalapeño and cheese kielbasa with Mac n cheese and potato casserole. She had the potato with chicken. I didn't take a picture of the potato.

This was ssooo amazing! The chips were freshly made and taste so good! I got the 1 meat(beef brisket) plater with 2 sides (coleslaw and Mac&cheese). My husband got the Dickey's stacker (baked beans, Mac&cheese with beef brisket sliced on top). Definitely loved it! Staff is amazing and atmosphere is great. Great vibes!
Spend about $44.50 for both of us which is pricey, but definitely worth it like I said!

Pulled pork was delicious!!! Fries were a little over done but still had great flavor! Service was fast and friendly! Will definitely be back again!

We have been to other Dickey's restaurants and was excited to see this new one open up.

First of all this is the first Dickies to feature servers and a full bar. We were greeted by the hostess and seated at a booth. Our waitress was soon there to get our drink order. She immediately informed us that the restaurant was still in beta mode until the grand opening.

We ordered sweet tea which can often be bitter and nasty at some restaurants but there's is good. Okay passed the first test. They also have a flavor mix soda machine but without the machine in front of me I feel like I need a mix menu on the table or just order straight Coke products.

Since they were still working on opening I mentioned how the menus are are small and hard to read. She agreed and said that the manager has already discussed that and it was a corporate menu that they put out and wanted to do something about it. Another thing I noticed about the restaurant was it had a dedicated takeout area. Unlike some restaurants were take out is an afterthought and you have to stand around people sitting at their tables awkwardly waiting to pick up your order.

We gave our order and I set my timer 11 minutes later our food arrived.

I got the pulled pork with bbq beans and green beans and the wife got the brisket with fried okra and potato salad.

This of course allowed us cross sampling the each other's plates. This stared a debate I liked the pork better than the brisket Butt the wife preferred the brisket over the pork.
I will note however that while the pork was not cold it was not as hot as it could have been. This may be attributed to the dining area being so cold, it was 69 degrees outside and felt warmer.

The bbq beans was good but a little "one note" so I remedied that with adding 1/3 cup of the pork. Boom problem solved. The green beans pushing the limits of pepper but still enjoyable.

We both forgot about the table sauces until the meat was gone. With moist flavorful meat it is unnecessary.

The wife enjoyed the potato salad and was glad it was not drowning in mayonnaise. The fried okra was fresh and crispy and the batter seem familiar and will drive me nuts to figure it out.

Other items of Interest are that it is a spectrum Wi-Fi hotspot for those who have an account.
Finally as we were getting ready to leave the waitress who has probably visited our table at least 8 times ( I was being a little intentionally needy just to see what would happen) told us that to keep our cups and get refills on our next visit. This would save my family $10 on every trip that's even better than a coupon.

The food was great and the sweet tea was good.

The Brisket is always good. The owner and his crew do an outstanding job.

Love to have a date night. Great prices. Super friendly atmosphere. Service is spectacular. Can't wait to go back. Spinach dip is great. Best chips in town.

The meat taste very good. And was very moist. Sides where hot and fresh. Great experience

Simple and delicious menu! Loads of TVs tuned to sports. Fantastic staff, very friendly. Josh and Donna run a top notch BBQ joint.

Spalding University had a great dinner, with a great atmosphere! Food was amazing, food didn’t take long for 30+ people and the waitresses did a great job with a large group of people.

We tried it for the first time yesterday and LOVED it. Everything we ordered was hot, fresh, tender, juicy, and delicious. (The person that said the food is served from a can is way wrong. I am from the South and we know about BBQ! Also, the staff were in fact wearing masks!!!) We ordered a family pack, ribs, and pecan pie. We had enough leftovers to feed us lunch today. Our server was the best server I think I have ever had. He was friendly, polite, and never kept us waiting. We were greeted by what I assume to be the owners and I thought that was lovely. The dairy free ice cream was awesome and fun for the kids. We are excited to go back and we are extremely picky eaters. We could not point out a single flaw. P.S. My husband enjoyed viewing the meat locker.

Amazing first time experience! I asked for food recommendations and the manager came out to personally help me through all their options. She gave me samples of everything and valued my feedback on some dishes. I ordered the spicy sausage and beef brisket with creamed spinach (not gritty), corn bread (not too sweet), and baked potato casserole (like twice baked potatoes). Everything tasted great. Their portions aren't super large, but enough for two meals. Next time I would order their pork ribs and pulled pork. The turkey is tender and tasted great too. Also, have wing specials throughout the week. Separate pool table section is a plus!

I never give a 5 star rating unless it is deserved! As for this place it more then deserves it. First of all the meats where excellent, the sides where fair, the service was beyond excellent!!! Cevin was our hostess and was both knowledgeable about the food and restaurant. Being a new place ( less the a year old) We totally loved the place. My only complain is our dessert name was misleading, I expected double blueberry cobbler not a berry bar. The price I paid for it was way to much, maybe for two pieces. All in all this was one of the few places we had a great meal.

They did are food for are wedding . Omg it so good. The did a wonderful job . The people that Deliver the food did great job there were really nice. The food was hot . Me and my wife were very Impressed .are family is still talking about how good the food was. Jest let everyone know this place is better then city barbecue. Thanks you so much for all hard work you did.

Really good food! 2 meat combo for the win! Beef rib sandwich is killer. Great staff too, high energy and talkative and you can tell they love where they work. We order here once a week, and we have happy belly's. So should you!

My husband and I love coming here! The owners are very pleasant to talk to and the staff is always great to! They have breakfast Thursdays through Sunday. I highly recommend the beef brisket and Mac&cheese on Texas toast! It's great!

This is our first trip to Dickey's the food was excellent the service was excellent . Our waitress went out of her way to explain the food and how it was served there. She was a blonde lady that looks like she was straight out of a western movie. We love the place thank you

10x better than city barbecue and half the price of them to. I will be coming back. Their smoked wings are amazing. I wish they had more locations but for people that live out of town its worth the trip. Great staff as well. They are deff a 6 out of 5 stars.

Outstanding! Perhaps the best pulled pork I have ever had. Not overly greasy like City Barbecue, still tender, juicy, flavor turned up to 11.

This is the only Dickey's that is set up as a traditional restaurant, on top of the normal casual setup. I sat at the bar and had lightning fast, friendly service. I signed up for the online thing and got a free "big yellow cup" which is another thing unique to Dickey's.

If you love barbecue, Dickey's on 21st Street in Newark, OH is worth checking out.
