De Fer Coffee & Tea

Staying at the Sheraton for an event wanted to try coffee other than hotel and one next door. Well worth the walk and nice views of Pittsburgh! To get there go up the stairs near the street or go around to the courtyard and up stairs or escalator. Cute shop, great coffee AND blueberry muffin was incredible. Co mingling space you can chill at as well.

Pretty nice coffee. The workers are super nice ( there was a girl and a guy in the AM) pretty amazing area to work, just have coffee with nice outdoor views. First 2 hours parking are free in the building. I loved the industrial vibe this building has. Recommend.

By far the best coffee shop in South Side. Their coffee is fantastic and their breakfast sandwiches and pastries are so delicious. The staff are always smiling and very informative. The atmosphere is refreshing and modern. I recommend trying one of their sandwiches. I'd be surprised if anyone found them less than great. I would come here every morning for breakfast and coffee if I could.

I love De Fer's original Strip District location and was so excited to visit the new Highline spot today! The staff was friendly and courteous and the Flat White (my favorite coffee drink) was top notch, with the perfect proportions of milk to coffee. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the beverages and the location offers great places to sit and relax both indoors and outdoors. Oh, and the 2 hours of free parking in the garage make visiting from the other side of town a piece of cake! I can't wait to visit again soon and wish De Fer nothing but success as they expand their brand in our great city!

I love De Fer! This location is actually super convenient for me even though I know it’s mostly meant for the people that work at the Highline. I love to stop by for an afternoon pick me up. Sometimes, I’ll grab a drink and sit at one of the benches to enjoy the weather. It’s pretty quiet at the Highline and the views of the city are great, so it makes for a nice, peaceful stop. And the staff is super friendly as well!

De fer always has good coffee. This new location has limited food, but the breakfast muffin we had was pretty good.

They have a good outdoor space on the highline where you can see some views.

Quick and delicious coffee! Baristas had lots of recommendations for tea to the gentleman in front of us and their suggestion of the Autumn Spice latte for us was exquisite! Awesome service and they didn't abuse their espresso machine or over-aerate the milk!

Had the most delicious breakfast sandwich and chai latte this morning! Also, excellent customer service. I will definitely be back!

Lovely!! First time at this location (I’m a regular at the one on the Strip) and everyone was delightful. Shout out to Austin in particular!

The new Southside location has a different feel than the strip district location. Both are cool in their own ways.

I had a great experience visiting De Fer at the high line! The location and seating is just stunning! The staff was very welcoming and allowed me to take my time trying to think of what drink I wanted. My drink was filled much more than other coffee places like Starbucks. The food and latte were both delicious! I always have the best experience every time I visits! Im so happy they opened another location at the high line. I will keep coming back and choose small shops like De Fer!

De Fer is one of my favorite coffee shops! The owners and some of the workers are from my neighborhood and are amazing people so I love to support them whenever I can. I have been there loads and have never been disappointed. The service is so good and the food and community always goes above and beyond.The fact that they find new ways to locally source products and art blows me away! Always excited to see their newest collab! Loved this new opening at the highline. Can't get much better than enjoying coffee and a bite in a beautifully decorated place with a great view. Perfect for a date, breakfast with the gal pals, a night cap or a hot coco stop with some kiddos.

Great spot to read a book and enjoy a great cup of expresso.

We visited De Fer Coffee while in town & we’re very impressed with hospitality from their staff. Samuel was extremely patient with my indecisiveness & even offered to make me another latte if the first one I ordered wasn’t to my liking.

I did enjoy the latte I ordered, haha. Samuel’s ability to ensure that my husband and I would have a good experience was incredible.

Definitely try the pastries with your coffee. I had the blackberry basil scone and a honey cinnamon latte. Both were balanced and just slightly sweet, the way I like it. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. I got the scone right out of the oven around 815 am.

The coffee, tea, food, and staff...outstanding! Genuine people. My whole family loves De Fer and I am loving the new location. The flat white is my FAVORITE go to drink :) as well as the caramel latte. Highly recommend.

There is no other place I want to drink my coffee. The view. The Service. The TASTE! The Atmosphere. Seriously, De Fer can just have my wallet. This location is a great first date spot, a great business meeting spot, a good place to ponder life, and most importantly, a GREAT place to drink gallons (not all at once) of delicious coffee.

Unusually head over to this place when walking my dog through the heritage trail. I get matcha from here mostly. The space is welcoming, has plenty of seating both inside the coffee shop, inside the building it's connected to, and outdoors.

The whole area is dog friendly and they usually have a water bowl for your fur baby to drink from. They even gave me a biscuit to give to my pups.

I chatted up the baristas (I got the sense maybe one of them was the manager/owner? not sure) and they were very helpful in answering my questions about the building and its history.
