I took my five month old son to see Dr. Kates today. He was very friendly and made by baby smile and laugh. He was knowledgeable and quick in his diagnosis. I definitely recommend this provider and will consult with him in the future.

Dr Kates diagnosed my first skin cancer after another had missed it. VERY IMPORTANT! Don't believe the negative reviews here Dr Kate's is very knowledgeable and skilled. Have had a number of basil cell carcinomas removed. He's taken one off of my face and you couldn't tell it was there. I go back every year for a skin check and would recommend him in a heartbeat

Dr. Kates is the best! First, I have been seen on time every visit - extremely rare for a doctor. Second, he is incredibly well-qualified, gentle and explains well. Was easy to get an appointment, staff is exceedingly friendly, parking is free with validated ticket, easy to drive to. If you need a dermatologist, I recommend highly and without reservations. Not only that, he follows up with a phone call a couple days later. Wow!

I’m not quite sure why anyone has written a negative review about Dr. Cates. He is a true professional who genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend Dr. Cates, and I cannot say enough about him or his fantastic staff. Excellent doctor!!

I have been attending this office for years and yes the office staff is always talking loudly among themselves and to patients every time i've been there. No patient privacy here. They need a very large, solid glass buffer between the office/reception and waiting area. I like my NP. It just sucks as there should be a discount for seeing an NP vs the Specialist Doctor.

I made an appointment with Dr. Kates and was seen by a PA. While the treatment for a few minor lesions was very satisfactory, the office never had the courtesy to inform me ahead of time that someone other than the specialist would be seeing me. Classic bait and switch technique and the very high fees applied were for specialty care not for the assistant care I received in the absence of the physician.

This is a constructive feedback with hope you can improve your practice and the way you treat your patients. I am a healthcare provider myself but I generally don't want to interfere with anyone's diagnosis and treatment plan unless it is concerning. I was not a patient today but I acted as an interpreter for my relative because she was not confident in English when seeing a provider. From a patient perspective, MD did not care what a patient had to say about her concerns, or even bothered to question her medical history, prior treatments. Instead, shouting about what to do and interrupting patients while she talking or trying to dismiss her questions was straight up disrespectful. I was a translator and having a medical background, I could barely squeeze in any words. It was a 5 minute battle to be able to try to talk with Dr. Kates. MD did not give us any second to finish our freaking translation. I wonder how you would treat patients who have language barrier without a translator, because my aunt felt pretty small after talking with you. Ultimately, patients come to you for your service, so please provide them a proper service. It is a two way street. They don't owe you anything, so don't treat them like you are their God. This way of practicing medicine is outdated and I hope you will change it, so that no other underrepresented patient has to feel the way my aunt felt after her visit today.

The one star is a gift to ‘dr Kate’s’ and has nothing to do with his receptionist staff. He goes too far , is very rough and does not listen to the needs of the patient. Also his treatment he so boldly insisted on finishing did not work.

Had a basil cell on nose. Was assured the it would be small incision (it was one inch on my nose). Wow! Dr Kates told me my nose was going to be perfect and look beautiful. I had a huge dent on my nose that was never going to go away. It’s been over a year and I still can’t get over how my nose looks. Changes my whole face He was dismissive when I questioned him on it and looked at me and said “your nose looks beautiful and walked out of the room. That was that!! My mistake. I should have done more research and it should have been done by a surgeon who does Moh’s surgery. I since have seen other people that had Moh’s surgery on their noses and can’t tell they had anything done.
Fast forward 2 years later. As I age my nose looks worse. Just terrible! I can’t stand looking at my face. I have seen plastic surgeon and was told I could not fix my issue unless I had a complete nose job!!!
Forward to now!!!! Guess what. Cancer came back on my nose. (Obviously, dr Kates did not get it all like he said). Scheduled another nose surgery with a surgeon that does Mohs surgery.
So upsetting!!! This should have been handled correctly in the first place and Dr Kates should have referred me to someone else who does Mohs surgery especially on the face!!!!

Dr.Kates is an excellent doctor, however his office is poor staffed with rude people - Sue - the billing manager is the worse of them. They don't care about patients about his patients! Unfortunately because of this staff I wont go back to his office again.
