This is an amazing place! I've been going for years! Everyone is so sweet and caring. I was hospitalized recently and it was near Christmas and I called at the most inconvenient time to speak to anyone in the office to let them know what was going on and within minutes Dr. Markley called me back!

Chronic cluster headache patient. After trying sevrral neurologists in Western MA over many years, none of whom offered anything other than expensive meds to end episodes with declining success,, I went to this clinic around 10 yrs ago.. They recommended Verapamil as a possible prophylactic (preventive) med and it worked. Plus it's quite inexpensive. Chronic cluster headaches are tough to treat, but they succeeded with me. Thanks!!

I've been a patient at the Headache Center for roughly 15 years. They do a great job. They are on the cutting-edge of migraine treatment research and Dr. Markley will work with you until you find what works for you.

Dr. Markley and his team are excellent, and the only people that understand the different dynamics and angles of my migraines and they are working really hard to get me feeling great. I can't say I'd ever think of leaving

Dr. Markley and his staff are very supportive. Edie is worth her weight in gold - always a patient advocate.

I have suffered most of my life with migraines and seizures and the past few years they have only been getting worse. I recently began going to Dr. Markley and I find both him and his staff informative and kind.

I've been a patient here for four years, and have to say Dr. Markley was the first neurologist to take his time through my 75 pages of records and narrow down what may be the underlying causes of my conditions. The older receptionist is the worst part of this place- she never understands voicemails and can be rude when she's confused. Regardless, my headache score is the best it has been in years, and they frown upon shoving pills down your throat without a proper vetting process. They have a long wait-list for new patients, which is common with a non-profit specialist. (PS- glad Carolyn left, as she didn't even keep notes my office visits, and kept insisting on an improper diagnosis)

Initial intake was positive, and the environment seemed relatively conducive to headache management. I was told by the practitioner I saw that I should feel free to contact the center for help with acute attacks; that they would do whatever they could to help.

Today I reached out to them for help and was told that they wouldn't be able to see me for four months! For a business that specializes in headache management and mitigation, it's truly unfortunate that they don't understand how absurd this is.

When I asked why so long, I was told that it was because the practitioner I had seen previously had left the practice, and a new, abbreviated intake assessment would need to be completed. If an administrative issue like that is going to prevent me from getting the care I need, then I will need to look elsewhere for help.

NERHC - I implore you to do better for those suffering from headaches in the future.

I called on a Thursday to get a new patient appointment, and was told to have my visit notes and insurance card faxed over from my PCP, which I did. I gave them grace and didn’t call back until the next day on Friday, and a gentleman answered and said “they all went home for the day, call back Monday”. Absolutely absurd was to operate your practice!

Since I became a patient last year there have been communication issues (front desk not returning calls, dr not returning calls, appointments were scheduled incorrectly, etc). The last straw was a week before Christmas when I left a message, then proceeded to call again after Christmas and left another message - still no call back. I called yet again about a week after that and left a message- I was clear on my frustration, I canceled my upcoming appointment and told them I was going back to my PCP because I have waited over 3 weeks for a call from the doctor to ch age my meds (I let them know I was still having severe migraines and they were getting worse)….still no call back! I called again and spoke to the receptionist and explained the issues I was having- she rushed me off the phone (didn’t care I never received call backs or help- I even asked her to send my chart to my PCP because I am leaving this office- she didn’t care or even apologize.). Worst experience with a doctors office:( I don’t know how they are still in business.

Left me without my refills or Rxs that i needed and have been on with them for YEARs no new apointment and I am now sick bc their front desk and communication problems. Since they moved and even a little before they have not answered a single phone call over the course of multiple weeks calling multiple times a day. They leave their voice-mail full so you can't even leave a message.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. This was the worst place I ever went for my migraines. They aren't interested in genuinely figuring out what is going on with you or giving you medication that doesn't make them boat loads of money. The NP Carolyn was always rude, as was the staff at the front desk. If you call and try to talk to your doctor, they'll charge you. If you ask for a copy of your office visit notes, they'll charge you. If you ask anyone to do their job at the front desk, they'll be incredibly unprofessional on the phone or in person. Dr Markley who speaks at many conferences and makes quite a bit of money off of discussing botox. My opinion, go somewhere else.

They have rescheduled my appointment 3 times, finally I had an appointment that they didn't cancel only to leave me in the waiting room for over 30 minutes and are unable to give an estimate of when the doctor may see me. I have been a patient of this practice for over 15 years the level of care has decreased drastically since Caroline left.

Horrible experience, always get voicemail. Tried to get my mri results, called several times with no return call. Very disappointed! I'm in pain and stressed that to the receptionist when they finally answered, she told me that they had the results and Markley would call me back, that was 4 days ago, still waiting to hear from him. Glad to find out that the results went to my primary as well, now I won't be going back to Markley. I will find another neurologist that will care about their patients.
