Came here for my mother's surprise 80th birthday party. Everything was perfect. The food was amazing and the staff went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend and also understand why this is hands down my mother's favorite restaurant.

Great service and great food! A very lively atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is so kind and helpful! We we provided a private room even though we didn't request it! Our party of three arrived for lunch in the afternoon on a Friday and there was no wait. Since it wasn't very crowded, it was also relatively quiet. We were greeted upon arrival, seated quickly and our orders taken efficiently and accurately. The food was hot and delicious. Two had fried crab cake sandwiches and the third had fried oysters. All had fries and cole slaw. The fries were seasoned well, thin and crispy. The crab cakes were crispy on the outside, tender and moist inside and large chunks of crabmeat easily visible. The meals were good and I would not hesitate to return ... soon.

Booked a table for 12:30 on a Sunday, good idea as line of people waiting when we were done. Staff were helpful, food was excellent and quiet enough (no music) for us to hold a conversation. Very pleasant.

My wife and I had the Mahi Tacos with Fries, hush puppies and a Salad. It was Excellent! The tacos were prepared perfectly as was the hush puppies. The salad was fresh and the service was was on par. The restaurant presented well. Well done Dock of the Bay!

My first time here. We had the she crab soup, delicious and full of crabmeat. Followed with a broiled crab cake cooked to perfection and hush puppies also very good. We topped lunch off with the best house made Key Lime Pie I have ever tasted! Our servers were very prompt and so friendly. Wonderful lunch!

Fabulous service from Holly. Enjoyed fried Oyster lunch with fresh salad with peanut ginger dressing. The cinnamon roll bread pudding was a delicious end to a fabulous meal.

I really enjoyed my meal. I had the Blackened Salmon with the vegetable of the day (green beans). 😋

I went to the restaurant with a great hunger and it did not go unfulfilled! Maximo did a fantastic job delivering mouthwatering food to me! I would like to thank this young chap for providing my six daughters and I with a truly unforgettable dining experience!

Everything was good, up until it was time to pay my bill. they had charged me a service charge of 20% . I told the waitress I was not paying the charge. I would pay for the food plus tax and leave a tip. She told me I better pay or she was going to call the cops. So being there as a guest with a group of people for a Birthday Brunch i did not want to stir up any trouble. I guess nobody recognized the charge or did not pay it any attention. So be aware of your receipts!!!!! Dock of the Bay ll will never see me again.!!!

My husband and I have been here three times. We noticed the food is consistently good. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is really nice.
We ordered different things each time and our food was delicious. If you are reading this, a huge thank you to the cooks for taking pride in the food. This is a gem, especially for the price. If you dine here instead of Smithfield, you will not get screwed over by the double food taxes you pay dining in the town of Smithfield. ( It's a massive rip off--Bend Over Here It Comes Again) type of thing. However, at this restaurant, you will NOT be taxed up the butt. You can actually enjoy your dining experience, and you will not be disappointed by the food.

Also, this is my #1 best seafood place. You will be served amazing, delicious food, and you won't feel ripped off.

First time there, and it won't be the last. Had a wonderful meal - blackened tuna cooked to perfection. Customer service and ambiance were superb.

My husband and I visited this wonderful restaurant on Friday. Honestly I havent ever gotten anything that wasn't ultimately mouth watering, our favorites are the grilled seafood platter, scallop platter, oyster Rockefeller and clam chowder & crab minis. I have attached pictures and videos for you guys to check it out yourself as well. This restaurant is definitely 5 stars from the colorful outside scenery to the warm, elegant dining areas. Wonderful welcoming staff with a fun and charismatic atmosphere. Very clean, proffesional and a huge asset to the community. The prices are Very reasonable considering the fresh savory, perfectly seasoned food as well as the portions!Please check them out when you can its well worth your time and money!! Looking for a nice seafood restaurant, away from the city crowds? Might I recommend Dock of the Bay ll? It’s not even a country mile away. Just over the James River Bridge. I truly have enjoyed each dinning experience. Family friendly environment. Professional and kind staff. This place makes for a very nice date night spot. On the table-grilled salmon & asparagus, with a delicious pineapple garlic butter sauce. Crab cake bites. A crab cake sandwich and fries😋. Enjoy and let me know what you think. My next stop???? I’ve driven by this place many a times but didn’t know it existed until 9/17😂😂😂🤷🏽‍♀🤷🏽‍♀The staff was friendly, especially the waitress Megan (or Meghan). She was attentive, accommodating and just overall a nice person. The food was nice and hot and tasted amazing! I’ll be back soon!😉😉😉

Fresh seafood properly prepared plus friendly service. Best to arrive early to avoid waiting to be seated.

My first visit here, while visiting family in nearby Hampton. The hushpuppies were excellent! Tuna fish tacos with mango pico de gallo were also good. Fellow diners had the combo plate, fried flounder and fried shrimp. All good and cooked to perfection, not greasy. Our only complaint was the coleslaw, while fresh, was pretty dry and flavorless. Service was excellent. Highly recommended for a good seafood restaurant.

I really miss the Portsmouth location because it was so close to my home and I hate now having to plan dinner out just to enjoy the food, but everything from the food to the service is amazing! Our go to appetizer is the crab and spinach dip and I always get the Blackened Tuna Tacos (which have a mango pico and mango aoli sauce) but my husband likes the fried fish tacos or whatever else he chooses that trip! It's all good!

Best crab and spinach dip, staff is always super friendly and attentive. Cod sandwich and hush puppies are really good. Grilled salmon Caesar salad is fantastic!
