Mary Draper Ingles Statue

Right off Main St. in Radford there is a cute footpath through the woods. The path leads right up to the New River Train Observatory.

I've lived in this area for seven or eight years never knew this existed in Radford but it's down near the museum pretty cool story behind this, definitely worth a visit.

Nice little hidden out-of-the-way place very hard to find if you didn't know it was there

Just a pull off park. Liked the train observation platform, which is either not finished or a design flaw because if you are on the walking trail, it is a 3 ft step up to the platform. There is, however, a wheelchair accessible entrance from the road. People on the trail must cut through the brush to get to it. An easy fix would be to add steps from the trail side.

Thank goodness there was a story on site to read about this Special Woman. I happened to discover this place during my Sunday drive.
