One of my favorite bookstores. They have a great selection and very friendly staff. It’s a very welcoming space. I’ve found a ton of great deals on their used books in the basement as well!

Adore left bank. Have been going here and bringing my daughter since she was very little. They have a great selection, tons of plaques with staff pick suggestions (which have ended up being some of my fav reads!) and very friendly staff. They leave you to it unless you ask for help but are awesome when you do need something (introvert’s dream). The kids book selection is exceptional with a wide range of topics/themes and reading levels. It’s a small local bookstore so yes, you’re paying a little more. Well worth it. There is a shop cat who is quite cute and friendly, as well!

I love their selection of books! It felt like I was seeing everything for the first time—even books I was very familiar with. Great staff recommendations, too!

Left Bank is such a treasure! STL is lucky to have such a long-standing indie bookstore. The shop itself is delightful--light, airy, and a pleasure to wander around and browse (and to have two entire stories to explore--a dream come true!) They have a great selection of new books, as well as lots of delightful gift options for book lovers (bookmarks, puzzles, bags, journals, T-shirts, all kinds of bookish delights.) Their dedication to spotlighting queer authors and literature is fantastic, and they always have an impressive array of authors coming in to town to do readings. Their used book section on their lower level is wonderful--an excellent selection of books at very reasonable prices. The staff is also always super nice and helpful, with great recommendations. A great community space!

Outstanding nonfiction collection, plus a good supply of used titles, as well.

Found many books that I wouldn't have found at any big box store. And shopping local is better, since they offer night time gathering events throughout the month (check the website).

Also, premium shop cat. Very cute.

Great bookstore with a great secondhand selection downstairs. I have found some very weird and obscure books from my list in the used section for very reasonable prices. Staff is super friendly and give great recommendations.

We came to this bookstore while visiting. It’s a cool space and the two ladies behind the counter were very helpful and friendly. We got two good books and they recommended some cool stickers. If you have time and are I’m this area of town, definitely make it a point to check this spot out.

One of my favorite bookstores in STL. I appreciate that they have new and used books and I always find more than what I’m looking for. The workers are always happy to help if I’m looking for something specific, or are happy to offer recommendations if I’m unsure of what I want to read next. They do prefer mask wearing as an FYI, but always have masks you can put on out of respect for the workers.

I. Love. It. Here.
So many books but not crowded and overwhelming like some bookstores. The staff is amazing. They are nice, genuine, knowledgeable, welcoming and give great suggestions. Like what more can you ask for? I spend so many unplanned dollars in this place but never regret it. I’ve loved most of the staff picks I’ve read so far. They have many reading groups. And even multiple rewards program options. They bring in authors frequently. I’m not into pets bc allergies but the resident cat is sweet and a cute touch to a bookstore. The kids section is great and diverse; saw a book with wonderful book with Braille and embossed scenes about colors last time I was there, coding for kids and covers featuring diff colors, races, religions and ideals. Oh and free gift wrapping - whutt?! That’s a recent discovery and I love it. Anywho...I hope Left Bank is here forever and ever.

My favorite local bookstore! Very easy to order online and pick up in store, or browse the shop and discover something unexpected. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Left Bank Books is not just a bookstore - it is a destination. The history of this place, mixed with the knowledge of its staff and its immaculately curated selection, there is no better place to buy a book. Even when we moved away from St. Louis, we still ordered our books from Left Bank!

We didn’t let the cat out. We did read through so many handwritten recommendations of left-wing books. We did overspend. We did walk to the park and pick up gooey butter cake at Straub’s.

Cool hipster bookstore in Forest Park area. Surprised by the amount of books they have. Two floors used and new. I was looking for a book on the local Cahokia Mounds for research and found one!!
