Pretty moderate uphill hike that runs parallel to the parkway about 1.3 miles to the Haw Creek Overlook and aptly named Lunch Rock for a fabulous view. Plenty of parking at well-marked trailhead. Leaves are gorgeous. No restrooms and safe enough for solo hikers.

I was looking for a spot to hike that was close to downtown Asheville and this hit the spot. The terrain is mostly uphill for about 1.35 miles then you can take a slight detour to your left and see an amazing view at Hawks Creek overlook. Turn around and head back to your car and home again. What I liked is the ground was smooth, no overgrown weeds, and lots of shade. A good little adventure and not too crowded but enough that a single female felt safe.

Great little five mile mountain to sea trail if you're in asheville looking for something to hike close with views.
