An amazing hotel, very unique. The feeling of the building is something you have to experience. Pictures are great but to be there is a whole different thing. Hard to explain, just do it if ever staying in Kinston overnight. You will not be disappointed. Proximity to great food, beverages and entertainment are literally just down the street and around the corner. An absolute gem for eastern NC and Kinston. Will definitely stay there again.

My wife and I along with three other friends stayed at the O'Neil for two nights while we were out of town celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. The O'Neil is such a unique hotel since it was formerly a bank. The lobby is so cool with ornate furniture, interesting pictures, a beautiful ornate ceiling, and the drink station is in the old vault. We were met at the front desk by Christopher who was absolutely delightful and clearly in the correct field of hospitality. The rooms were spacious, well equipped, clean, and the bathrooms were nice. Certainly a better experience than staying at a regular chain hotel. Less than one block away from the Chef and the Farmer restaurant, this was a great location. If ever back in the area, my wife and I will definitely stay at the O'Neil again.

Awesome period hotel that remains much of the decor and furnishings of the original bank. Outstanding location for exploring downtown.

My stay at The O'Neil was excellent! The hotel itself is gorgeous and beautifully redone. Very clean, walking distance to a great restaurant the Chef and the Farmer, and a unique stay. Mary was the host of the evening and she was so kind and very accommodating. She made our stay! Check out this gem!

My wife and I stayed here overnight on our way to the coast. Absolutely loved it. Beer, Pizza, Ice cream, etc., all within walking distance. Hotel staff was phenomenal! Very unique place to stay. We highly recommend it.

Loved this place, it is beautiful and comfortable. Christopher went above and beyond for us, we arrived at 3 am and he waited up for us, gave us a tour and then went out and got us ice, he could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Our room had a vault with bunk beds, my sister-in-law and myself slept in the bunk beds, very cozy. I highly recommend this place if you are staying in Kinston.

We had a wonderful stay in the corner King room with great views of the city and all the comforts we could hope for in the room. There were a lot of nice touches in the room. The front desk person was very kind and helpful. If you are arriving late, note that the front desk closes at 9pm.
We are looking forward to staying again someday soon.

Recently spent a weekend here and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The rooms are large and the beds are amazing. It's a great location for enjoying downtown K Town. The Vault is a special touch! Can't wait to visit again soon.

The O'Neil is an incredible hotel - phenomenal renovation of a historic property, beautiful art, professional staff, and luxury rooms. The hotel is even more impressive than the pictures on the website.

The Chef and the Farmer restaurant is less than a block away, so choose this fantastic hotel if your visit to Kinston includes dining at that restaurant.

The O'Neil is a must for your visit to Kinston.

Great hotel with a lot of history and charm. The staff couldn't have been better and they made you feel like a special part of the family that had come to visit. The added bonus is they are just across the street from the Chef and the Farmers Table. Anytime we are in the area we are staying here again.

What a wonderful hotel! My wife and I stayed there this past weekend while visiting Kinston to eat at the Chef and Farmer (and Boiler Room) and to visit Mother Earth brewery. While those places were wonderful, we cannot stop talking about The O'Neil. The space is beautiful. We loved our room and the amenities (which everyone else has talked about) are incredible. A wonderful place to stay. I cannot recommend it enough.

Great staff, fun quirky lobby, big rooms. The drinks and snacks in the old bank vault are a nice touch. I would definitely stay here again. It’s literally across the street from Chef and the Farmer and a two minute walk from Mother Earth brewery. For history nerds like me, the CSS Neuse museum is also an easy three-minute walk. Ideal for a weekend retreat.

If the management read these reviews, I do have some thoughts that could make the experience even better...
First, the bed. My bed was REALLY high and very, very soft. Not just soft, but kinda saggy in the middle (2c). Might want to check the bed frame.
Second, the parking. I didn’t feel great about leaving my car on the street overnight. I wish there was a better option.

Loved the O'Neil during our stay and look forward to a return. When you wake up in the morning, it feels like home.

Only tip I would like the staff to know is that there is one thing that would make the stay more enjoyable and that's quieter doors. Unfortunately, we stayed during the time of a race event in Kinston and very early in the morning we were awaken by loud slamming doors. Not due to any fault of the guest, but just due to the age of the building. However, this could easily be remedied!

Thanks for our stay.

Best hotel in Kinston. Stayed the night when we came into town to experience the Chef and the Farmer (right around the corner). Perfect location, very cool lobby and great amenities. Check-in and check-out couldn't have been easier. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

The O'Neil was built around 1920's as a bank and has since been renovated to be an upper class hotel. Owned and operated by Stephen Hill, which has also opened Mother Earth Brewing, to help the local community boom again. I would say Stephen and his team have succeeded in inspiring others to open local businesses in the area. There are various shops and restaurants to check out during your stay. While your here take the tour at Mother Earth and try all the different rich flavors of beer and spirits.

I didn't stay at the hotel as I was in Kinston for a class reunion and stayed with a relative, but a couple that was at the reunion stayed here and they showed a small group of us the room they were staying in, which was outstanding and the couple confirmed the room was awesome. The lobby of the hotel is absolutely fantastic!
