Without any confusion, MJ Reynolds, Assistant Branch Manager at Southside Bank, 3828 Troup Hwy, Tyler, walked us carefully through depositing money from another institution. Nice interest rates had brought us in today. We were able to complete our banking business with no errors, no problems; thus, surpassing our goals. Ms. Reynolds is friendly and competent. She was not above asking her supervisor to give input. We left the bank feeling very secure. Ms. Reynolds is an employee to be proud of, and we hope to see her smiling face every time we come to Southside Bank.

My mother was a long-time account holder at Southside Bank. She had me as the co-owner of the account so that if anything ever happened to her, I could withdraw her money without hassle. She, however, developed dementia, and Social Security made me the Representative Payee so that she couldn’t call and order random things off the internet after she went into a nursing home. Southside said that nullified my co-ownership. They neglected to tell me that until after she died. They also wouldn’t let me close out her account until they sent me on many wild goose chases. First, they said I could close it, then they said, no, you have to bring the death certificate, then other things. She didn’t have property. I finally got the check, which they made out to all heirs, even though I was the executor of the will, giving me the right to take care of all expenses related to funeral costs. They gave us a cashier’s check, then when we were all together to cash it, they charged us $25 to do so. A CASHIER’S check drawn on their bank closing out my mother’s account who had just passed away!
