My son and I found this by happenstance and so glad we did. We were greeted with a warm welcome. Very friendly at the counter. Got the shrimp boil and it was so flavorful, but not overpoweringly spicy. Perfect! The Mac was excellent and next time we will try the soul food items from the hot bar. Not a fancy place. Prices were reasonable. They have specials all the time and Thursdays are college night (I think).

This establishment makes me feel like I am home. I am from Louisiana and now live here in Alabama. This is the ONLY place I can get good seasoned food; especially seafood. I have frequented this restaurant owned and managed by Ashley several times. People may complain about the price but believe you me…it is well worth it. Remember you pay for what you get. Quality, good service and good food. When I have my cravings. This is where I go. Food is always hot, staff is always friendly and service is always excellent. Get your seafood boil here, your soul food and feed your appetite.

We decided to try something new, and boy am I glad we did. I hadn’t been to the mall in years, so I had no idea this place even existed. This is not normal mall fare, this is “heart” and soul food. The owner came out to greet us, making sure we were enjoying our meal, which indeed we were. It’s clear he’s put his heart into his business, and takes pride in what he has to offer.

I have only tried a couple of things so far, but I don’t hesitate to say that this is the best mac n’ cheese I’ve ever had, and the quality of the ingredients used on the FatBoi fries is outstanding. I look forward to returning on Sundays when the full menu is available. I can’t wait to try one of the seafood dishes.

This place is soul food Heaven!!! Macaroni and cheese is super cheesy and tasty. The greens are flavorful and amazing!!! Hamburger steak was flavorful and fresh and not dry!!! And the junkyard dog was so good oh my gosh I have to come back for more. Oh yeah and the prices are amazing to0!

My husband and I were in town for our son’s basketball tournament. We were looking for somewhere to eat and this place was it. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. We would definitely come back.

Most delicious meat/vegetable plate lunch I've found in Tuscaloosa, vegetables seasoned just right! The Philly cheesesteak is also the best I've found 'round here, and the red velvet poundcake made me mumble and mutter in sweet carb-drenched bliss. Fun, friendly, helpful staff. I will definitely be back again and again and again!!!

My first time being at Flavaz today and I was really impressed. I was invited to attend a luncheon there by my cousin. The people there are so friendly, the environment is great and the food is amazing. Next time I visit I will definitely try the shrimp boil, it looked so delicious. When you order the chicken wings, you select which style you prefer. I got the hot which came with fries and a drink, all at a great price😀😄😍

I got the whitening, mac and cheese, and the field peas with some cornbread! My wife got the hamburger steak, collard greens, and mac and cheese! Everything was PHENOMENAL! This is the best soul food in Tuscaloosa! I'll be back many times to try some more! Made me feel like I was back home eating my family's cooking at Thanksgiving or Christmas ❤❤❤

Ah…. Mazing!!!! The food was so, so, so DELICIOUS! It’s so good it make you think your grandma is back there in the kitchen! You can taste the love in the food! It was well worth the 1 hour drive from Columbus! If you are in Tuscaloosa, passing through or live in the surrounding areas please stop by this restaurant! IT WILL NOT DISAPPOINT! I wish I could give them 10 stars!

This is my second time coming here and it is just amazing, the people and the service are just great and the food is wonderful. I got neck bones wit a side of black eye peas and Mac and cheese. I just love this place!

I was greeted as soon as I entered the establishment. Great presentation of food displayed. Employees made sure we felt at home. The food was fresh, hot, and worth it. Definitely would recommend the soul food plate, 2 meat fries, and the punch. Will definitely visit again.

Delicious soul food. The fried chicken was amazing, collard greens was properly seasoned, and the best candied yams I've ever had! You don't know what proper soul food is if you haven't stopped by here. Also, Titus and the crew are great people, great service!

My first experience at Flavas S & S was spectacular. My family and I really enjoyed the food. The Pork Chops, Wings, Yams, and Rice and Gravy are my favorites. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I will share my thoughts with others and be a repeat customer.

Great name for this place. The food has great flavor. With some places you'll have to add salt to bring the taste up, but here its already well seasoned and you can just dig right in. Friendly, professional and customer oriented ownership adds to the atmosphere. Feels like you're eating at your family's place. My first visit was yesterday and they'll see me today, for sure.

The food was fantastic, but there was a long wait. There were not a particularly large number of customers in my opinion, but several of the items ran out and created a long line. They have some sort of internal policy to not give refills, and require you to purchase another drink. This was not made apparent to me until I tried to get a refill. The price is very high for a restaurant located in a food court, but most people seem to be getting the food to go. I waited a little bit more than 20 minutes for my plates that did not include anything not on the hot bar. The only item that was out was the whole chicken wings. All together the food was very good, the service existed, the restaurant was not disgusting, but certainly wasn't clean. If you are not in a hurry and don't mind paying a little more them have at it! Also the dining area was hot like the AC wasn't working well. The food was slightly better than King's Kitchen, but I would much prefer to go there.

Update: I went back and the service was much faster. The food was again some of the best you are likely to get around here, but the price was steep. I got a meat, 3 sides and a drink that came out to over $20. They seem to be having more customers than they anticipated which is a good thing, but today the people up front were experienced and fast. I have eaten at the other location several times, but never went on Sunday when they had a similar menu to this location. I love the candied yams, cabbage, and collards. All 3 are the best or right there with the best I have had in Tuscaloosa. I was actually going to get some Pizza, but they were closed, so I got this instead. The food is great, everything else is similar to other mall establishments, but the price is steep. Sometimes you just have to pay for quality.

Another Update! This place is consistent and easily the best meat and three you can get in Tuscaloosa. The food is just flavored more. Everything you get is very good and consistent. The initial opening traffic has died down, but it still takes a little bit to get your food if you are a walk in. Overall I really like this place and reccomend it to almost everyone that asks about a local place to eat.

Been twice. The food is legit. I had the oxtails and rice the first time, the fried whole wings the second. Both times with collard greens and mac. The mac has the perfect level of noodle doneness and cheese texture. The corn bread is made to sop up gravy and juices. Would recommend for anytime wanting to try traditional southern style soul food.
