Really cool old cemetery! Some of the tomb stones are about 20ft tall and the oldest graves are from the early 1800's.

This cemetery is older then Illinois University here that is one reason the University was built around Mt Hope Cemetery. There are even civil war soldiers of the USA & CSA buried here.A very old potters field here without markers. A muselium here w/ viewing area for funeral service to be held if be needed. Office in same building as well. The west end of cemetery is joined by another cemetery Roselawn. Many art students of Uof I have used this cemetery for landscape drawings. Mr Hope is old well kept cemetery with many old single family muselium here, and large monuments on family plots.

Needs to be cleaned, updated with new carpet, and the moldy smell in the building is horrible. They need to have longer hours in the mausoleum so people can visit their loved ones, need to go back to the key system or a security code key pad.

While in Champaign last weekend, I stopped by the Mount Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum to visit the mausoleum burial place of my mother, father and brother. Ceiling tiles are missing and I understand this shabby condition has not been addressed for a long time. The cemetery site area of my sister and nephew was unkempt and the road is in need of resurfacing. Our family paid for a respectable resting place for our relative's remains and Mount Hope has proved to be very disappointing. It is past time for the management step up.

We went to take flowers to my parents, and grandparents , and 2 brothers, and were surprised to find the road that they were buried next to has now been filled in and no longer accessible! What a shock! Made it very difficult to locate them!

And, the condition of the cemetery is shameful!!!
Grass not mowed, trees in bad shape!!

What disrespect for those buried there, and their families!

The condition of the cemetery is embarrassing. It doesn't get cut until the weeds are sky high and there are dead tree branches still laying around the property from several storms ago. I drive by everyday on Kirby and I feel sorry for the people who have their loved ones buried there. Please take care of the property. Everyone who is buried there and their families deserve it to be kept up on a daily basis.

The hours say 9-5 I called at 4:30 and asked about finding where someone is buried and the lady told me to call Monday because she leaves at 4:30. I said your listed hours are till 5 she said well I leave at 4:30. Completely rude.

I was terribly disappointed upon entering the mosolium today.
You obviously need a new roof, all the carpet is stained and stinks terribly.
Not quite the experience expected when you come to visit your loved ones. The price we pay we would expect a nicely maintained facility.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of my father-in-law's passing. In December we noted that his information was still not on the crypt. We inquired shortly after the first of the year and were told there was a problem with the vendor. As of today there is STILL no engraving. And, the sign on the office indicated they were busy with someone else. Tomorrow I will call. I am going to ask for a timeline and request an update at the end of this week. This customer service is pathetic.

Mausoleum is always locked even thou the hours are 8:30-4:00 Monday thru Friday (closed Saturday & Sunday) and it takes staff days to call you back after you call to schedule an appointment.

Drove through there today looking for some graves. The cemetery is a mess with dead trees, muddy roads and graves not mowed.

Horrible. Visitations difficult because they're not open posted hours. No recording of hours or way to leave a message off-hours. They SMOKE in their office. Bad, bad experiences.

Filing a complaint with Attorney General on how things are run there. Attitude of staff is poor.
