After The Fox - McHenry Illinois

Started with Fried Calamari Steaks (like strips) and the Potstickers. Equally delicious.
Main course, our table was split between Monday Specials: Steak and Lobster with Dill Potatoes and Wolf Fish in Creamy Garlic Sauce with Veg Medley.
Both meals were amazing. Words don't accurately describe how good the food was tonight. And decent portion sizes. Sorry forgot to take pics, too eager to start eating.
Service was great, very attentive, and super friendly.

We have not been there in years. Went for lunch yesterday and it was great! Asian chicken salad was out of this world as was their chicken tortilla soup. This will be a staple for us when we are in Mc Henry. Great and attentive service. Friendly staff.

We came here on a whim and passing through looking for some dinner. I really liked this place. The inside was dim which I liked. It was my style and I liked being able to look outside the windows at the lake in the back. The waitress was amazing and attentive and nice. The food was sooooo good. I definitely recommend the place if you’re looking for some food!

I was going through some old photos with my friend Pearl and found one of After the Fox. In true Pearl fashion, she wrote on the back that she ate here, but that they had no pickles.

Pearl passed away in August with no family left behind, so I decided she would appreciate her memorial being held at After the Fox, the place where she once had a good day in 1994.

The owner (or manager?) Shawn was patient at working out a day and time, and gave us a room off to the side for us to gather. It was the perfect space — not isolated, and yet intimate.

The small memorial went over wonderfully. We had space to mingle, the service was attentive and understanding of our individual check needs, and the menu had a really nice variety. I ordered a burger, and yes Pearl, there were pickles.

I will definitely be coming back to check out the rest of the menu, but I also love that it seems like an inviting place to grab a drink and meet up with friends.

A hometown jewel for casual dining! A supper club vibe with excellent food and classic cocktails, you can't go wrong at the Fox. Note that it's extremely busy in the warm weather evenings and weekends as it's a must stop while cruising on the river.

This place was delicious!! Special soup was delicious! I got the grilled ham and cheese and also was delicious! I will definitely be back again!! Fries yummy. My son loved the burger too. A hidden treasure of a place!!

First time here, very welcoming, staff super awesome. Food very great had fresh water perch dinner and fox burger. I mean yummy❤❤

My wife wanted to try this place a couple years ago. After looking online it really didn't look special or even too appealing IMO. I gave in and gave it a try.
This idiom holds true "you can't judge a book by it's cover".
The food has always been above expectations, really good!
The specials aren't the same ol same ol, definitely worth a try and mostly what we order when we go. The service has always been good. In the summer outside seating is nice off the river. So glad we tried it. It is now one of our hangouts!

The service was second to none, and I loved the food, but I should have tried somewhere else since I had kids with me. Still, they were very welcoming, and the atmosphere is fine, it's just that the menu is not for your typical kid palate; at least they did have a chicken fingers appetizer that came with fries. Nevertheless, free drink refills was a plus for the kids and boxes to take stuff home. When I tried the leftover chicken later, I realized how savory and flavorful it was. I had the grilled mahi sandwich with red onion, pineapple and lettuce on a brioche bun, which was out of this world. They also have nice views of the dock, and if it had been warmer outside, we would have sat out there.

Very impressed with waitress who tried to return a purse that was left by a customer. Congrats you have dedicated honest employees.

My wife and I really like this place. We drive here from Chicago. The bartenders are always friendly, food is fantastic ! never had a bad meal here yet.

The beer was not that cold, asked her if she would be able to put some on ice and she gladly did. Love the view winter or summer.

This review is definitely long overdue. I just want to share the great experience I had on this wonderful restaurant. First of all, the restaurant has a great ambiance inside and out. The interior inside was lovely but the last time I went in here, we were seated outside because it is packed and I was glad that we seated outside because the view was lovely which is the river and it is refreshing the ambiance outside is kind of different from the ambiance inside in a good way. Second, the staff and the service are excellent. The staff in here is friendly, accommodating and attentive. The staff always make sure that everything is good in our table, Lastly, is their food which are all fantastic and definitely delicious. Their salad is fresh and I like the dressing on it that makes it taste better. I ordered ribeye for myself and it is served with fresh and tasty potato fries. The ribeye is cooked perfectly like how I wanted it to be and it is full of flavor and it is just basically delicious that I savored even until the last bite. I just love this restaurant and I highly recommend it. They are definitely one of the best restaurants in the area.

Excellent food and service. I told our waitress that we were going to be there for several hours since we were there to enjoy the band. She said that was fine .
We did stretch our ordering and eating over a few hours. Our waitress never rushed us but did check occasionally if we needed anything.

The food is good, and the drinks are great. And they have an outside deck to eat on if you like it outside.
