Nice town Cool looking Bridge 1800s

By far my favorite vintage, one lane, iron bridge to ride my motorcycle across. Love it so much I even had it video taped. Enjoy seeing the colored lights strung along the structure too at night.

What's not to like about the old Iron bridge? This thing has been around for ever. It makes a nice clinkity clinkity noise when driven over, making it fun for all passengers. However becareful if walking on the pedestrian walkway, it is quite shakey when traffic travels through.

The Second Street Bridge, more commonly known as 'the Iron Bridge' is a historic whipple truss bridge that is the centerpiece and symbol for the city of Allegan. The Iron Bridge has become somewhat of an icon. It's iron beams have been Allegan's pride since it was built in 1886. In 1981, it was restored to it's present glory, and the first truss bridge to be restored in all of Michigan. I have to give props to the citizens of Allegan, who instead of demolishing the Iron Bridge to pave way for a two-lane concrete slab, saw the beauty and value of such an important historic structure. The one-lane Iron Bridge has a traffic light on each side, and a wooden walkway on the east side with original railings. The west side of the bridge lights up the night sky each and every night, my favorites being in July, when the colors run red, white, and blue!🇺🇸 The slogan for the city of Allegan is 'All roads lead to Allegan'. But more accurately, I think, is that they lead our hearts to the Iron Bridge.

A very cool, very pretty piece of history in Allegan. Great to walk over, drive over, or if you're in a marching band parade, march over!
