We had a lovely stay here. We felt it was the perfect location. The staff was super helpful and the continental breakfast was better than average. The room had small thoughtful additions like an umbrella. Will definitely return.

Beautiful views, very clean rooms and parking lot, and when you're inside the room it's quiet around you, which I love while staying in hotels/motels.
It was worth the money for the location and charm!
Also the free donuts from a local bakery in the lobby were a plus 😊
If I had to be picky and suggest a way to improve anything, I'd say having a smart TV with the option to use streaming services instead of just cable would be a nice upgrade for the future, but that's just a personal preference!
We only stayed one night, and the bed was so comfortable, and I couldn't hear anything outside the room, so I still slept wonderfully!

This one of the most comfortable places I have ever been too. The location is amazing. Seeing the Lift Bridge outside your room is so beautiful to see. There is a hot tub in your room. Comfortable bathroom. Simple relaxing room. Small deck, but you really don't need a large one. You have easy access to Canal Park area. The breakfast may be simple. Easy things that are fresh and delicious. Fresh fruit. Greek yogurt. Fresh bakery goods from local bakerys, which are delicious. And amazing coffee. Stayed here one night and felt welcomed for a week. I recommend staying here for a very warm and inviting stay.

I have stayed here many times, and love it. Quiet, until a ship goes by right outside the window, but what a view from the canal facing rooms. I love that it is on the opposite side of the bridge from Canal Park, close, but away from everything. Simple breakfast, but the rooms are perfect, and many have a whirlpool bath.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. We're locals. This place blew us away. We were in one of their Junior Suite King Bed Bay View rooms. It's not a "fancy" hotel, but it was very clean and well maintained. It has so many little touches that show they really want to make you feel comfy. The layout is great for privacy. The location is amazing with how it's close to Canal Park and downtown Duluth, which are both packed with restaurants, bars, local shops, and historic scenery, but South Pier Inn is nicely secluded and quiet. They also have some of the best views without having to leave the property. Then they top it off with having fresh baked goods in the morning from Johnson's Bakery, which are top notch. The pricing is super fair too. Other hotels in the area in the same price range are nowhere near as nice and don't put in the effort that South Pier Inn does. This is the only hotel I would ever recommend. We'll definitely be back.

Interesting place, nicely located. We stayed here because of the location. The rooms are clean and tidy with lots of amenities. The place feels like an open air motel with reasonable amenities. Breakfast is modest- primarily cold choices and bagels. A bit of noise due to birds and constructions, but expected during this time of the year.

Great spot and service! Can't get much closer to the Lake and so close to shopping and restaurants. The rooms feel private with great views. Love the fireplace to give extra warmth and ambience and the deck overlooking the water is beautiful. We asked for an earlier check in and they said while not guaranteed they'd try. They were able to accommodate a 1p check in when normally it's 4p. The free breakfast includes local bakery items and local coffee. 0 complaints and definitely recommend even with paying a bit more than other nearby hotels.

Best place in Duluth! The view out of our room was amazing. Small but filling breakfast. Offered wake up calls when ships came through! The spa tub in our room was the cherry on top!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the South Pier Inn. Rooms were perfect size and the atmosphere relaxing and welcoming. Whether it was Skylar or Issiah at the front desk or the owners Betty and Dale, they made us feel right at home. Wonderful views of ships sailing in and out along with beautiful views of the city and the hillside. Took us too long to discover this place! Don't let that happen to you!

We’ve stayed here a dozen times and it’s our favorite place in Duluth. The views of the harbor and life bridge are stunning and you can’t beat watching ship traffic from your bed. The staff are always friendly and the rooms are always clean. We cannot wait to go back!

A brilliant place to stay for a North Shore Weekend. Rooms with the harbor view offer a great view of downtown, the hill and the massive lake freighters coming in and out of town.
The bed sheets must have sheets with a million plus thread count. I’ve never felt so comfy at a hotel before.
11/10 would recommend

Wonderful place. Loved our view! The king suite is bigger than some apartments! Loved the jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed here during our last duluth outing, and the only complain I have is that we haven't stayed here before!
THE VIEW is worth it alone. Our room faced the bridge and it was so fun just being about to sit in your room/or on the deck and just watch the ships come in and out.
You are basically right on the water!
The room was warm, cozy, and Quaint.
Our room was only for a couple, 1 bed, 2 chairs in front of the fire place, a HUGE tub/spa.
Sitting in front of the fireplace and watching the water also was just pure serenity.
Parking is right in front of the building so there isn't a long haul to your room.
The check in lady was very nice and help full as well.

Perfect location, beautifully appointed rooms. Adjacent to canal park and shopping. Rooms that look out over the canal and harbor. Simple but varied continental breakfast. Highly recommended.

Beautiful location at the harbor end of the Duluth canal. Watched the ships come in from our room. Breakfast was a bit light, but not what you came there for. Grounds are very well kept. Staff was very friendly.

South Pier Inn is my new favorite hotel. The location is perfect, right next to the bridge and an easy walk to many restaurants, bars, and entertainment. The inn itself has thoughtful touches such as a DVD player and DVDs (in the main office), completely cookies and phone chargers of all types. We had a bridge view room and the view was amazing. The tub was spacious and relaxing. We are already planning on booking a couple of days at South Pier Inn again in the near future just so we can spend more time in the Inn.
