The Empanada Shop

This is exactly what one should expect from an "empanada shop." The place was clean, the service was great, and the food was phenomenal. Nelson, the owner, was a down-to-earth guy too. I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone with a craving for authentic empanadas.

Our hospital is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and we wanted to bring some empanadas to share with the staff. We ordered 600 empanadas. The service was amazing, the owner helped me put everything in the car and was super grateful and even gave us some empanadas on the house. The empanadas were a total hit!! Everyone was asking where we bought them because they wanted to go! Definitely will repeat it!!

We ordered The Fiesta, spinach/cheese, guava/cheese and apple empanadas. We loved them all however looking forward to more vegetarian & pescatarian options being added to the menu. When we did have an issue it was addressed and immediately handled. This was our first time but def not our last time eating here. Especially to try the the Tres Leches cake which was sold out when we went.

Super friendly staff with delicious empanada. Lots of different choices. The beef is a must have!!

Amazing! Try especially the non traditional ones. I had chicken and cheese, and sausage/peppers/onions. As someone who didn’t grew up in the US, I approve this, best empanadas I had here. And the smoothie combo, made the best work lunch!

It's a very small shop. More favorable to an on-the-go crowd. There is a counter with stools if you choose to take a quick break here. I only saw two of the staff, who were fairly friendly. The guy who helped me was really patient as I gave a confusing order.

The empanadas were amazing. My coworkers loved them. One of them had a small complaint about the Three Cheese having little filling. But I wasn't surprised as that is my experience with any cheese filled empanada. The Buffalo Chicken was praised and the beef is said to be a bit spicy but very delicious. I had the Spinach and Mozzarella, which was stuffed to capacity. I love garlic flavor, but not eating actual garlic so I felt one of them was too garlicky. Tbh, I'd still buy it again. The shell wasn't chewy, too hard, or too soft. The edges had a satisfying crunch. I would definitely go here again.

Best Empanadas in New Jersey! I've traveled America and by far nothing compares to this spot. Being highly intuitive, these empanadas have the quality of love in them. Soft yet crispy and taste delightful! I love the fact that the owner catered to me being that I'm a vegetarian. Thank you! 😎💙💙

These are by far the most delicious empanadas I have ever had I can’t even explain how good they are perfect in every way. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place I give them 20 ⭐‘S if I could I guess I just did 😋😋😋😋

This was our second time here, and the empanadas did not disappoint. Great selection to choose from - the traditional beef and the not-so-traditional sausage, peppers and onions empanadas were very good!

I have visited the Wood-Ridge location a few times. While I like that location, they opened up a location in Rutherford which is closer to me. Same company so at the Rutherford location, the empanadas are always fresh and delicious. I tried the Cuban sandwich today. Delicious but the bread has to be pressed like a panini to be a true Cuban sandwich. From the people who work at the Rutherford location to the owner Laurie, everyone is super nice and friendly. This is my new local hang out. The rice balls they sell there are awesome also. Super delicious. Who needs Chipotle when you have the Empanada Shop? Some suggestions for the Rutherford location? I would to see a suggestion box for customers. The Cuban sandwiches to be pressed. Punch cards, like loyalty cards so customers can earn points for free empanadas or something. Basically that’s it. Thanks for everything. I’m a customer for life now!

Delicious food! I love the spinach and cheese, and all of the specials are worth a try! Plus their pink sauce is amazing.

Delicious! They are a bit at family gatherings. The buffalo chicken one is our favorite! But all are very good.

Delicious! Tried the beef, chicken, Spinach and cheese, 4cheese and the empanada of the day “Buffalo chicken” first time so we wanted to try a variety and better than expected. Hopefully doesn’t change.

Great little shop with yummy empanadas. My favorite is the special "cheeseburger ", not to be confused with beef & cheese - which is also super yummy! Cozy shop, quick service, yummy good, reasonable prices.
