Suffolk County Police Department 6th Precinct

I was recently arrested and I can’t say enough about the compassion and professionalism shown by my arresting officers from the 6th. These men and women really don’t get the recognition they deserve. It was my first (and last) time being arrested and they walked me through the entire process every step of the way. A female officer helped me get dressed for the trip advising me that jail would be very cold at night, I wouldn’t be keeping my shoes and that I should brush and floss my teeth before leaving my home because I wouldn’t be able too in jail. I was very grateful for her genuine kindness. It was extremely cold and I was so glad I wore those layers! I was actually able to give away one of my sweatshirts to another very cold prisoner once I was in the Central Islip holding cell.

The officers at the precinct were all consistently kind and thoughtful to me. They also work well with each other.

My only complaint would be the bathroom- could really use a little Clorox in there? I felt my risk for hepatitis increase exponentially when I used the facilities. Just something to consider.

Thank you 6th precent for everything you do for our community!! I’m so grateful to have had such a positive (and unexpected) experience with my arrest! Now I can cross getting arrested off the bucket list I never had!

The 6th Precinct has been amazing!! Professional, compassionate, more than helpful in so many ways and always on point!!! Many of the officers in the 6th treat you as if you are family and always do for you what they would do for their own families 👪 ❤ 😊!!! They are truly amazing and very supportive of whatever you need, whether you are a victim, a person that is being apprehended or even just a concerned citizen. They will do anything to help with whatever it is that is going on and they follow up with you to make sure you are doing well 😊💯 SO HERE'S A HUGE SHOUT-OUT TO THE 6TH!!!! My 2 step daughters, at the time was ages 8 & 11 years old, they were sexually harassed by a man in his late 40's. The women and the men police officers at the 6th recent had to make my daughters feel safe enough to explain, exactly what happened to them. To do so, my step daughters had to relive this horrible experience and explain it, to police officers. They were respectful, kind, sympathetic and empathetic!!! The officers treated my step daughters, as if they were, their own children! With my stepdaughter's description and witnesses description, the 6th precinct had this man arrested and cuffed to a wall, in the 6 precincts within 2 hours.

This past weekend, I revisited the 6th precinct, because my wallet was stolen & they took the initial report. In that wallet, was the registration to my vehicle. For me to replace my registration, I would need a police report, for DMV. I wasn't sure if I needed to go to police headquarters In Yaphank or if the 6th precinct could help me. So I called the 6 precinct before I made a trip over there. Officer Gruber (i hope, i spelt his name right) answered the phone. I explained to him why I was calling & gave my info. Officer Gruber told me, that I could come to the 6th recent, that he would be able to help me, he also said "I can do one better than that, if you give me your planet number, I can have the paperwork ready for you, by the time you get you here". When I got there, it was ready!
I was there for less then 60 seconds And received the paperwork that I needed.
NOW THAT'S PROFESSIONALISM !
I was so impressed on both occasion's with the 6th precinct's actions, That I bought the whole precinct Dunkin donuts.

When I went, We ordered take out every night, they Let me play Xbox 360. No grand theft auto 4 though which was a drag. But still got to play some games. We had story time and milk and cookies right before bed. They also let me watch TV, cops...I think they were being ironic but all around great service. I'd stay there again.

So glad I remembered to give these officers a great review! I stopped in this PD because I needed to get updated fingerprints for my profession's licencing requirement... The officers here were very nice, funny & hospitable while I was there--all the things you need when at a PD and doing something tedious as prints lol!! I didn't have the exact change as required, so they gave it to me on the house:))

Thank you so much for the officers who came today to help me free a deer that fell through my pool cover. Their response was quick, very polite and a great team of officers.

Good atmosphere here. Yes they're very serious but they were also very polite, nice, and helpful.

Yesterday ,I had to call for a non -emergency matter. The officer that answered the phone was professional, helpful and pleasant ! Thank you for your help 6th precinct !

When I needed their assistance, they were very courteous, professional, and polite. They kept me informed of the progress.

I needed to be fingerprinted for a background check. The officer who did it was skilled, courteous and quick.
