Mario's De La Mesa Restaurant

Tasty Mexican food! Nice quaint restaurant in La Mesa. Overall, good food. I'm not sure what their specialty is, but I enjoy their dishes each time I come. I had their tamale last time I came and liked it. Actually, their tamales are larger than others, so you may need to only order one. The venue is smaller, so it probably the max party size may be 6-8-- but this adds to their charm. They have an outdoor patio, if that is your preference. Additionally, they just redecorated. Prices are fairly affordable. This place is worth checking out.

First, I would highly recommend sitting on the patio if you can. It’s lovely and the views aren’t bad. There will always be dogs hanging out as well.
The chips and salsa are good and the chicken mole enchiladas were great (I’ve never had mole enchiladas before). It kind of bothered me that we had multiple servers because they would ask us things that we were just asked, but they were all good and nice as well. There is a parking lot in the back, but if you drive a bigger car/truck or if it’s lunchtime, beware that it can be a PITA to get in/out.

Started off with Shrimp Cocktail which was excellent! The Mexican food here is fresh, vibrant and full of flavor! Chicken Fajitas and Chicken plate were excellent! Food and Service were spot on!

When we were leaving, we went through a Sobriety Checkpoint. The officer asked where we had came from, we told him Mario's. He said, "I love Mario's! My favorite is the Chili Colorado!" So, La Mesa PD loves Mario's too! Great hidden jewel restaurant in the heart of La Mesa. Viva La Mario's! :)

Service was great and the food was quite good. The fajitas were delicious and came out steaming, and the enchiladas were also pretty yummy, but nothing special.

Good food, drinks, and dessert. My daughter got the Mexican hot chocolate and enjoyed it! I got the horchata that's really good!! For dinner, I got the taco and enchilada combo because I'm craving some enchilada. It's so good!! The dessert, we got the tres Leche cake and that was the perfect ending to our delicious meal.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch with the husband. Had a perfect half booth where we people watched and enjoyed the morning. The Café de la Olla was PERFECT. The Birria Eggs Benedict NEEDS to be a permanent item and the Machaca con huevos we delicious. We left with full bellies, full hearts, and a new favorite Sunday Brunch spot!

My family has been coming to Mario’s for almost 30 years and have always loved the experience. We recently brought my 4 year old for her first time, and our server went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable. We asked for crayons (because I mistakenly told her they would have them) and our server went all around the restaurant collecting crayons and blank paper for her. That made me love Mario’s even more! Definitely recommend!

Would give more than 5 stars if I could .
This would be my last meal if I got the death sentence .

Going to this place is a must! Very friendly service and great environment.
The owner is usually there to greet us every time we go there.
The food is delicious and tastes fresh.
I have tried many delicious plates but my favorite dish is menudo. I just love menudo and they make it very good.
I would give this place 10 starts if I could.

A very nice breakfast with very little wait time. I has Carne Asada w eggs, beans & rice. The guacamole was very tasty & fresh as was the house salsa. The meat was well seasoned & tender. My wife had chicken posole which was also very good. This is a very nice location with friendly staff & a variety of items on the menu.

The service is SUPERB. The wonderfully colorful tables and walls make me happy. The food is in ample servings and always delicious. A favorite place of mine for sure.

We've been going to Mario's for decades, always enjoying the homie atmosphere and friendly wait staff.

Initially we were drawn to the handmade tamales, which are excellent. Then my husband tried the shrimp burritos and enchiladas, and I tried the chile rellenos. Those are now our regular order.

Speaking for myself, the chile relleno is large and flavorful. I always take half of it home and enjoy it as much the next day.

I've been going to this location for nearly 15 years and I have never been disappointed. The Chicken Enchiladas Mole are killer! Just the absolute perfect mix of flavors. All their chipotle dishes are amazing and the fish tacos are an absolute treat. Lovely food and excellent service. I hope to be going here for many years to come.

Karina was amazing I eat on the carnivore diet and that can make ordering food very challenging. Karina did not miss a beat she was amazing the food order all though complex was perfect and tasty!!!!

Love the delicious beef enchiladas! Chips and salsa was amazing and the service was friendly and welcoming.

Beautiful, newly redecorated interior make it even nicer to enjoy our favorites such as the delicious machaca and my favorite jamaica drink made the old fashioned way from scratch! Juan Vasquez worked there for years before taking it over as owner a few years ago. Nice improvements!

Stopped here with a group of 7 on a Thursday night.

The staff were amazing. Quick and super attentive. The only thing more amazing than the staff was the food. Some highlights: My super picky brother loved his Enchiladas. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his beef Ranchero. And I have never had such an excellent mole sauce as they serve here. And everyone raved about the queso.

1000% recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
