Mama's Greek Cuisine

This place is so underrated and has quickly become a favorite when visiting Tarpon. The ambience and entertainment (especially the live music) is unmatched, and the food was delicious. The gentleman who was our server was so attentive and friendly, and we always have the best experience here. I’d choose Mama’s for the vibes and the food over the more touristy spots on the main strip anytime.

Mama’s at the Sponge Docks is our favorite place to eat when in Tarpon Springs. Because we are local we have the opportunity to visit Tarpon Springs quite often; especially when family is visiting us from up north. We have been to all the eateries in Tarpon Springs and Mama’s is our number one choice. The service is always excellent and the food never disappoints. The atmosphere is simple, but we love the live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Every item on the menu is delicious. I always get Marides (smelts) because I won’t cook fried foods or fish in my house. Being Greek, I know what the foods should taste like and I have to say, 99.9% of the time it tastes like it came from your own kitchen!
Highly recommend and visit the front entrance of the Sponge Exchange on Dodecanese Blvd to get your coupons for Mama’s dining.

Awesome food and incredible service. Located just a half block off tge main strip in Tarpon Springs. Live belly dancing on Saturday nights. I had the moussaka, and it was absolutely delicious. The custard pie and honey balls were a perfect ending. Highly recommend.

I have visited this restaurant a few times now. I always end up having Jessie as our waitress. She is amazing. We had the Saganaki and octopus appetizers. I had shrimp scampi. My mom had the gyro platter. Very large portions! Great salads, free bread. And love the Greek custard dessert and baklava.

We were wandering around looking for a place to eat. I specifically wanted salmon and a nice salad. Another couple recommended Mama's. I had a nice little Greek salad and bread while I waited for the Greek style salmon and potatoes. This was probably the best salmon I've ever had. The potatoes were fantastic as well. The staff was super friendly we had a great time here!

I've been coming here with my family for the past 5 years and each year we come it is always wonderful. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is amazing. I would highly recommend coming to the area and having something to eat.

Great Authentic Greek food. Served in a touristy town. They deliver exactly what the promise. Hugh portions. We split on appetizers and it was plenty for both of us

We typically eat on Dodecene but we rolled one block back to Mommas.
Sure glad we did, way more relaxing, amazing service from Kay.

I usually visit Tarpon Springs about five times a year while in Florida and Mama’s Greek Cuisine is my absolute my favorite. Over the years I have tried every other restaurant in Tarpon Springs and none of them can compare to the quality of the food and service I receive here.

Fortunately my husband and I found this tucked away gem last summer when we came from NC to visit. We came in wanting a gyro. Normally you would pick a restaurant right on the main strip of tarpon springs but the wait times are usually horrendous. The service at mama’s was phenomenal and it was by far the best gyro we have ever had. I grew up in the clearwater area so I’m bummed I just now found Mama’s. My husband and I still talk about how great the food was and we are constantly craving that gyro. Give Mama’s a shot you will not be disappointed.

I had the lamb shishkabob and it was amazing, seriously the best lamb I’ve had! My parents got the gyro and the Greek salad with chicken and potato salad-she said it was delicious, light, and refreshing. The lemon and chicken soup was so refreshing I’ve never tried anything like it but I really enjoyed it. And of course we got the flaming cheese, Opa! Irini was such a sweet heart, our service was amazing!

We have been going to Tarpon springs for over 20 years, we even got married at St. Michael’s shrine (rest in peace Goldie). This is the firsts time we have eaten at Mama’s. We ate outside on the side facing cross street, which is the full bar side. There were lots of fans going so they created a pleasant breeze. For an appetizer, we had the tzatziki which came with pita points-yummy. I had a shock top (cutest little beer glass but they had 2 for 1 which made it better (for me). For our main course, we had Gyro’s which was on the sandwich menu. They were the best Gyros we have had at tarpon springs in a very long time, the gyro meat was fresh, the tomatoes were fresh, they sandwich was very good. And we have eaten at just about every place in Tarpon. Unfortunately, we didn’t get our server’s name and it wasn’t on the check or the receipt but she was very attentive and cheerful without being over bearing. The only drawback was because we were outside, there was someone around the corner at the bar smoking and that smell wafted our way ( I think it was a contractor ).

Their menu consisted of the usual Greek food and if it’s as fresh as the Gyro, it would be fantastic. I very highly recommend Mama’s. By the way, they feature a belly dancer on some days so that would be an extra treat. The restaurant is located such as you can enter two ways, we entered on the cross street side, which is a side street but you can also enter through the shopping plaza. Hope you enjoy!

Homemade Dolmades are superior to any I’ve ever had. Mmmmm. Beef & rice & sauces. This veggie lover asked for veg to go with the house made hummus & got a beautiful plateful. Mr Wonderful’s traditional gyro was excellent.

The service was lovely. My Snapper was delicious. I will definitely be back!

I have been here three times because I love it so much! I always take friends from out of town here. My mother and I had the most amazing Thanksgiving lunch. The atmosphere is incredible ...love sitting outside on their deck because it has a cool view of the side streets and shops. This is not on the main drag in Tarpon Springs, which is why I love it. It's just one block off and sent back in a really gorgeous mall that makes you feel like you are in Greece. Free parking!

I love this place! You couldn’t possibly feel anymore welcomed any where else in Tarpon Springs! The server Michael was awesome! He waited on us hand a foot. He was also great at recommending food and drinks. I plan on coming back, because everything about this place was awesome! Grab a margarita while your here they are only $5!

Got the Greek vegetable pasta. Was so good they give so much that 2 to 3 people can eat this. The feta fries were the best I have had, the lemon chicken soup was delicious! I had the Greek coffee was amazing! The waitress was so nice.

What a great food 👏. Omg , everything was delicious. I will give 10 stars if I could. The food was exactly like I ate in Greece, no difference. Amazing atmosphere in a Sunday afternoon, great service, good margaritas. Everything was cooked perfectly and so, so tasty. I recommend this place 100%.

What a quaint experience, we sat at the bar for lunch, bartender was friendly and helped with food choices, we went with the flaming cheese on pita, and also got the Greek French fries. Both dishes where easily 10/10 the cheese was cooked just right, with the correct amount of flame. The fries where the first time getting and it wasn't a mistake, they are topped with some feta cheese and a lemon oil basil is pour over. 😘👌 beautiful.
The beers are 2 for 1 which is the best in all of the sponge docks! If your thinking about stopping by the sponge docks, you gotta stop at Mama's! 🇬🇷
