Exactly what it looks like and 5-star experts at it. The awards for the onion rings and chicken fried steak are well earned. Perfect tenderized and seasoned steak with breading that stays on and fried just right. Dip the onion rings in a little ketchup and hot sauce mix for that bite. And classic pies, probably to go at that point. And a great friendly staff. One helluva diner.

This is my first time here. The place is nice and cozy. I really feel relaxed in the atmosphere. We had some onion rings and fried mushrooms for appetizer. The specials were great. Hard to choose from. We had two of the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a salad & one meatloaf with mashed potatoes and a salad. It was delicious. Everything was hot and fresh. We enjoyed our dinner and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back to enjoy this awesome Cafe.

Had a good old time. We enjoyed the food, atmosphere just good home cooked meals. Pies 🥧 are absolutely delicious. We local folk , have known about the LARGE chicken fried steaks, the onion rings are GREAT. The atmosphere for ME is chilled and VERY FRIENDLY. BOTTOM LINE is, when you have a sport legend like Mr. Tim Duncan come and enjoy places with History roots, says it all for ME. JUST SAYING 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

You can't beat their Tuesday chicken fried steak special.. The onion rings are out of this world! The food is wonderful. The staff is wonderful! However, do not sit in the back the air conditioner blows right on you.

That chicken fried steak tho!!! It was gigantic and i love how they put the gravy on the bottom so it stays crisp. The mac n cheese, broccoli rice n cheese, mashed potatos and fries were all hot and delicious. The rolls were on point!!! Tommy did a great job keeping up with the boys drinking there drinks so fast. Also the onion rings were perfectly crisp with a soft onion. Great spot to come for a hearty meal!

Great experience and friendly staff. Coming back here took me back to my childhood. I'm glad this place hasn't changed at all. Some places just know their roots. 5th Generation customer here!

First time there today it was SO good! Service was on point, (thanks Tommy!) and we will definitely be back. Just woke up from a nap after lol! Meatloaf, chicken fried steak, onion rings, and pie, it was all good!

Say hello to one of the best chicken fried steaks in San Antonio (maybe in Texas). It’s one of a kind - thin and tender with crispy batter that sticks to the meat. And everything is flavorful. The mashed potatoes are homemade and so is the delicious ranch dressing. Treat yourself to the coconut meringue pie for dessert - it’s taller than the ketchup bottle.

Haven't been in so many years but recently as I've moved closer, I'm back! Have always loved the food, service and atmosphere. Feels like having family in a vacation home 😆 Thanks for continued greatness and know I'll be back again soon!

Great place. Has an amazing chicken fried steak and double cheeseburger. The pie was so tall and so good. I would highly recommend.

Chicken Fried Steak is huge!! Will definitely go back to have other items on the menu. They also give a military discount.

My husband and I each ordered the sampler platter; fried chicken stripe, onion rings, and mushrooms. More than we could eat and so delicious!

Best lunch special ever! Great rolls....loved the music playing....staff was friendly and we were served fairly quickly for a busy Saturday!

Great little 1940s diner with absolutely fabulous foods. I had the pot roast special and everything on that plate was perfect.

Haven't been in a while. But their chicken fried steak set the standard for all others. Amazing! Good service too.

Went to have dinner with my wife. everything was sooo good . I had there delicious chicken fried steak my wife enjoyed there huge chef salad n the cornbread was off the hook .. complements to the whole staff everything was on point didn't have room for desert but man those pies looked soo good can't wait to go back

If you like giant chicken fried steaks, this is the place for you. They serve it with the gravy under the steak instead of on top. I always ask for more gravy personally.

Have been going here since 1994.
It's still one of the best burgers and chicken fried steak and onion rings!
