Idyllwild Park

Edit 7/30/ 23: the park was cleaned up about a week ago and it’s really nice for shinrin-yoku (a type of therapy/ meditation that’s basically just looking at nature/ trees) but there’s still a lot of trash to pick up. Hopefully I’ll get it all before it’s overrun again but my expectations of Austin parks are not high after what has happened so far. It would be nice if the city cared about parks like this more because they’re really intended to help preserve nature inside the city both for enjoying the peace of nature and for helping our local environment. It helps keep up local animal and bug populations and cuts down on the heat bubbles cities get. It’s scientifically arguable that it’s hotter in Austin when parks aren’t maintained well. What a year to see this happening. Plus, I’m sad to see the deer herd that goes through shrinking and the cicadas are numerous this year but this park is SILENT. It’s not a good sign for the health of the park/ trees that it’s animals have left.

Original review: Everyone knows this is a problem per the other reviews FOUR YEARS AGO but obviously the appropriate officials don’t care to do their jobs according to the lack of response to the hundreds of reports and 911 calls my neighbors and I have made. Come here to be assaulted by the homeless people who live here (I’ve seen it happen) or if you want to buy fantanyl I’m pretty sure they’re selling that too because there’s tiny drug baggies and syringes left all over (and I talked to one of them and she told me she’s addicted and then there’s so many cars coming and going). They use the parking that’s for the apartments here, damage apartment property/ cars, and steal items and water from the outdoor water spigots on the buildings. Don’t live here, or try to do anything reasonable or honest or you will be harmed by the dangerous drug dealers and addicts who live in this park

This place is a refugee camp. About ten people live here since they were driven out of their previous homes by "peace" officers. There are huge piles of trash and feces.

What has become of my city? 😤😬😧😨 Speak out here against this inhumanity. Steve Adler, my Mayor, do you hear us?

The City of Austin and the Tanglewood Neighborhood Association are negligent, jointly and severally and a reasonable jury will agree...

Not a park. Just a group of trees and trash.
