Evanston Chicken Shack

This little shack shows signs of aging, but the food never gets old. I could indulge in the fried whole chicken wings on a daily basis. The wings are flavorful and hot and crispy when served. The accompaniments of fries, biscuit, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, or a slice of bread are equally delicious. My father loves the fried chicken gizzards with honey BBQ sauce.
The prices are competitive and the customer service is great.

I haven't had chicken this good in a long time. Definitely worth a try if you've never had it. The liver is to die for. Amazing flavor, crunch, took me back to sitting and enjoying our favorite food with my momma. Just one more bite kind of food.

Whenever we are in Evanston, this is consistently one of the places we like to visit! The chicken is simply delicious! We always get the whole wings, but I'm sure that the flats and drums are also very well done. The french fries are just OK, though. And, they always put a couple of pieces of bread in the bottom of the basket for you. Nothing terribly special there (it is nice to have for those who enjoying that piece of bread or want to make a quick sandwich out of a piece of chicken).

The parking lot is tight and small. However, you tend to not spend too much time there as it's completely a pick up spot, these days. This was my graduate school special and is still one of my favorites! Highly recommended.

Great place for chicken !!! If you’re familiar with Harold’s Chicken various locations throughout the city and suburbs as well as enjoy their chicken.....you’ll probably enjoy Chicken Shack !!!

I’ve eaten here several times and each time the service was good and the food was good and fresh!

Their lunch special with chicken and tilapia is 🔥🔥🔥. Easily the best southern fried food in Evanston. Although their lunch should come with a warning - will need nap after consumption.

This picture does not do the food justice!! It was SO delicious. The chicken was fresh. Fries were really good. And of course, the honey barbecue was the best. I am not a huge barbecue fan but that honey barbecue was so good

This was our first time here and to be honest wasn't overly excited, as we have had no luck on finding good fried chicken that wasn't a chain..we were very pleasantly surprised with the chicken. It is delicious, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, perfectly seasoned, and just downright the best chicken we've eaten. My son had the tenders, and didn't care for the tenders or the BBQ sauce on it, he was disappointed and wish he ordered the fried chicken instead. The mash potatoes didn't taste good along with this weird tasting gravy, that didn't taste like gravy at all...I ordered a biscuit which was very dry and a little on the harder side. We will definitely be back for the chicken, but not any sides or biscuits, may try some fried cod next time..overall the chicken was worth it, also they are very affordable and not overpriced like everywhere else in this area..

First time going here and it was really good! It was season inside and delicious. I got the boneless wings with fries and bread and got a lot of sauce, thank you btw. Definitely will be coming back and recommend this place!

Amazing (fried) chicken bits! I get mine with Honey BBQ sauce on the chicken only. I've been coming here since 2010- when I was a Northwestern student.

As a southern gal, I was blown away by this chicken. It was absolutely delicious. Reminded me of home. The French fries were on on point. The honey BBQ sauce is delicious. Certainly worth a go!

Food is always good reasonable prices. It's literally the size of a shack. Only 2 or 3 tiny tables in there. I've never seen anyone dine in just carry out.

This has been my go to for chicken for the past 25 years. The order may not be ready when you show up for pickup, but it is always worth the wait.

Great chicken! The cashier will hustle an extra couple bucks if he can but just keep an eye on your order and the receipt. The fish is good too.

Went here all the time in college. Still dream about the 2 thigh 2 leg box with barbecue on the side, or the large chicken bits with a cup of cheese. Catfish nuggets with extra tartar is another staple. Great greasy food for a great price. The only reason to ever travel into Evanston, in my opinion.

Don’t expect it to be fancy. This is a no frills, hole in a wall kinda place. I don’t like fried chicken but this place changed my mind. The prices are very competitive and you can get yourself a good meal here. I usually get the fried chicken with rib tips that comes with fries & bread. Always fills me up and food is always very good. Cannot recommend it enough.
