5/2024: WillTravel✈ForFood🥣

An hour is well worth the trek for the delicious lamb ribs- the fried dry garlic topping is so delish. We got 3 ☺

Taishanese cauliflowers were perfectly seasoned two ways. Chef put a nice mix of woodsear, nagaimo, carrot 🥕, celery in one and an amazing malai sauce the other.

Steamed shrimp 🦐 with bean threads topped with minced garlic was as good as it looks per family.

So it helps that we speak Cantonese/Mandarin but they are super friendly regardless. Good food requires waiting especially there is only 1 chef.

The chef needs a Michelin ⭐

2023: Yes 🙌 Cantonese food lives 😂
It has been a discouraging decade as Chinatown’s Cantonese chefs retired. But alas Red Pepper delivers.

🐑 Lamb with garlic tempura crumble - I will go to the gym for you 🥰
🐠 Ginger fish - light and yum
🥗 Green beans - ask to skip the meat
🥣 Salty fish and chicken fried rice - the defining Cantonese dish

Worth the 80 mins drive from Chicago. 😝

Stir fried clams in bean sauce was the dish I had. They were great and very full of flavor. Also very fresh. There are about 10 other restaurants inside this location, similar to a food court. All seemingly quality. I was there with others and they tried some of the other locations with no complaints on the quality of the options. I look forward to future visits.

Update:

Best chinese food, vegetables in the dish are delicious as well.

Don’t understand why only 3.9 points, but good to see they are busy

The best chinese foods I had in Illinois, they know how to cook delicious chinese foods, much better than china town( dim sum and roast duck only for me at china town) and much much much better than others at almost every strip mall nearby. Highly Recommend!

The chef made very good spice dish. I ordered spice octopus, and told chef made chinese way. It is so delicious. The octopus is so tender and spice source just good as I ate in China. I am very impressed. Will bring friends back to here to try others dish.

I ordered the beef fried rice. I really enjoyed it. The food was not salty and seasoned lightly. It was the lunch special and came with a drink. The total was around $11.

Red Pepper has become my go-to Chinese food in Naperville/Aurora. As the name suggests, spicy dishes are their specialty and they're all delicious. The food isn't sweetened like some other Americanized menus in the area.

It does take a bit of time to get your order, but it's well worth it and makes sense - there are usually a few orders in the queue at any time and everything is made from scratch (you can see it being prepared!).

I was at the food court today with my friend, and I was craving some delicious Chinese food. I stopped at Red Pepper because they seemed to have a more extensive menu with different options compared to their competitors. I had a slight miscommunication incident with the gentleman at the counter where I said I wanted salted fish but didn’t specify I wanted the fried rice, and he assumed that I wanted the eggplant dish which I didn’t know existed. I felt really bad because I didn’t want the food to go to waste, and I was really excited for the fried rice thinking that was what I ordered. They actually offered to switch it out for me, which I can really appreciate. I know it wasn’t easy for a small business, and I ended up loving my food so much. I highly recommend Red Pepper to anyone in the area looking for authentic Chinese cuisine. One tip I will say is to make sure you say exactly what you want when ordering, and make sure they’re on the same page with you before you checkout to avoid any confusion or miscommunication.

Food is super fresh and good bang for your buck. But it's a 30 minute wait. There's a really large variety of options to choose from. The items on the left side are more of the American Chinese options, everything else is a lot more traditional. All the food is full of flavor and very filling. Great place to come with friends, everyone orders something and you all share

Their hard family business deserves respect.

I like their food, is not as sweet as in similar Chinese restaurants.

Best 干炒牛河 in the Chicagoland area. Like other reviewers have said, the quality and cooking style is on par if not better than restaurants in Chinatown.

Feels like I’m back on the streets in China at a 大排档. The food is freshly prepared on front of you, the flavors are authentic. I wish this place was closer to Chicago.

This place just opened recently and we loved the food. Thus far this is the closest to good comfort cantonese food in the area. The owner was polite to me and we plan to come here often. :)

solid restaurant. I have tried dishes here a couple time and none of them are bad. Considering their portion, the price is OK.
