Sushi Masa | Japanese Restaurant

This place is excellent! Very traditional Japanese food and atmosphere. The place is so cozy and awesome inside. The food is phenomenal. Very fresh and very good flavors. We were very impressed.

So far the best sushi in Sioux Falls. The quality of the fish is just so much better than the other places in Sioux Falls. Had the two tone sushi combo of tuna and salmon, just wow. Nice large pieces of fish on top of sushi rice. I would say they provided 50% more fish than the normal sushi places in town, and the flavor was spot on.

A little expensive for an everyday kind of restaurant, but a great special date night kind of a place. Average cost $30-40 a person I would say

Extremely authentic Japanese food run by a friendly Japanese family. The only truly authentic sushi in Sioux Falls that actually has a sushi chef from Japan. The other pseudo Japanese restaurant in town cannot even compare to this place. If you love Japanese food and are in Sioux Falls this place is a must try. Portions are also very generous for a Japanese restaurant. Simply the best Japanese food for thousands of miles!

Midwest Sushi? Every time I take out of town visitors from the coasts I almost have to drag them in. And every time they come back, they want to go there again. This is the best sushi in town, owned and operated by a true Japanese chef and his family. In fact, for the price and portions, it surpasses every other sushi place across the U.S. I have been to. Twenty plus years in business, they have to be doing it right. Check it out, you won't regret it.

This place is great! Will definitely be coming back to try more sushi! Our favorites were the special cucumber which is an appetizer and the spider roll first and second photo! We also had the Isobe which is an appetizer too third photo. I was not a fan of but my husband said it was ok.

Listen... I love sushi. I've been to Japan, I've even been fortunate to have omakase sushi in the old Tsukiji fish market. I've also tried several sushi places in the US. This is, hands down, the best nigiri I have had outside of Japan. I'd even argue it's better than some sushi I've had IN Japan!

I can only speak for the nigiri as that's all I had. But the pieces of fish were cut perfectly. Thick, large cuts of tuna, salmon, and Hamachi. They even put the perfect amount of Wasabi for you between the fish and the rice, just the way it's done in Japan. (If you don't like Wasabi or prefer to do it on your own, you can always ask them to leave it out).

It can definitely be a bit pricey, but I promise it's filling and deliciously worth trying at least once.

Absolutely the best sushi spot in Sioux falls ❤ my dad and I come here every year on each other's birthdays. The food is amazing and the service is great 👍 The decoration is very homey.

Don't be fooled by fusion, folks! So thrilled to come back to Sioux Falls and dine at Sushi Masa again! We lived in Studio City for 15 years next to world-famous sushi restaturants, and we still use Sushi Masa as our basis for comparison. They really do have the freshest fish and amazing, talented and creative sushi chefs who create flawless presentations.

Always excellent! The salad...stop it, so good. Shumai? Yes, every time. It's the best I've tried anywhere. All the sushi is great. The salmon tonight, melted in my mouth. Delish!

I've been eating here for 20 years, I travel a lot and I have not found a better place in the country! Definitely my favorite restaurant of any category in all of Sioux Falls by far! You've not had sushi until you've tried Fumi's cuts! Hope I spelled his name right! Also this is the only real Japanese sushi place in South Dakota probably, all the rest i know of are chinese run! Value for the dollar is unbeatable! Flavor texture and every detail here is second to none! Even the sushi rice shows a completely different level of attention and expertise and the fish is so fresh its the freshest anywhere because he is so good at running his small business and moving through inventory! This is where you take someone to impress them in Sioux Falls! They won't believe they're really in South Dakota!

Wonderful dinner experience. We felt very welcomed the moment we entered the restaurant. Incredibly warm and inviting serving staff. Everything from the raw beef appetizer to the sushi combo, even the salad dressing, was masterfully executed. The fish was generously portioned, meticulously arranged, and perfectly tempered. I wish I could give them more stars.

I love the building and main room. It's small but spacious for many dining tables. Inside it's very cozy and comfortable, and could easily swing from romantic to family depending on who you are with.

I loved the service as well, the waiter brough some hot towels for your hands and was very kind with suggestions and checking on us during our decisions on what to order. I really liked the menu as well, yes you have your standard sushi and sushimi that you will get elsewhere, but they also have legit Japanese dishes that you just won't find in Sioux Falls. Probabbly not unless you were to go to Minneapolis in Minnesota for your closest option.

I got the Okonomi Yaki which is like a Japanese pancake that's stuffed with seafood and lots of good stuff and sauces. It's huge, and could easily be split between two people but I ate it all because I like to hate myself later at night I guess. It was delicious, a bit heavy on sauces I think for my taste, but I'll definitely order it again. The person I was with also got a rice bowl with a Japanese omelette ontop (don), and that was great as well. The rice was well cooked and the flavors were dripping down and flavoring the whole dish. Sort of like a much heartier bibimbap from Korean restaurants but with egg.

If you want legit and home made Japanese meals beyond sushi and some basic noodle dishes. Go here. This is the place in Sioux Falls you are looking for.

A cozy and authentic Japanese restaurant in Sioux Falls that I would visit again. We ordered the yakiniku donburi, unagi donburi, imo dango, and sweet potato tempura roll, and they were all super tasty! We were given some hot towels before our drinks, and our meals came with a really hearty potato miso soup and refreshing salad. The whole experience was wonderful, starting with the friendly server and chefs, to the neat presentation of the food, and lastly the homey flavor of authentic Japanese food. Thanks Sushi Masa! 超おいしい！

A wonderful gem of a place in the heart of Sioux Falls. We've eaten sushi literally all over the world and nothing compared to our experience here. Our server was so kind and knowledgeable and we're so glad he pushed us to try several new and different items. If we're ever in the area again we will be going back!

Delicious Japanese food and polite servers. The servers were happy to explain the ingredients of different items on the menu. My favorites are gyoza, shamia, tempura, the shrimp and scallop katsu, but everything is good.

Highest quality sushi and Japanese food in Sioux Falls, easily. You can tell everything is made with care, with some well crafted maki as well. Old school cool, with a "the locals go here" vibe

We came here on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy, very good food and service. We got the tricolor sushi and beef rib bowl with sticky rice. Highly recommend!

Totemo oishikatta! Best Japanese restaurant in South Dakota! I lived in Japan for 18 1/2 years, what a special treat to eat here tonight! I found my new favorite restaurant! gochiso samadesta!

This was an amazing experience. The food was amazing, it truly melts off your tongue. The waiter we had was so beyond nice to us, and made sure to ask us if there was anything else we needed. There was also warm hand towels in the begging of the experience. I definitely recommend going there.
