Dr. Der Simonian is best physician I've had. She is compassionate, communicative, and patient. She responds thoughtfully to questions and I feel as though she genuinely listens. She and her office deserve props for quick and effective use of their online portal. Finally a doctor's office for the 21st century!

As a new resident of the state of Maine last year, I was diagnosed with lymphoma shortly after relocating. As such, I was suddenly thrust into a medical system that was completely unfamiliar to me. That, in addition to the myriad of fears that a cancer patient faces, I was ridden with anxiety. I was so new to Maine that I had not yet had an appointment with my primary care physician, and was told that must now be a priority, as my PCP would be an integral part of my care. The stars aligned for me the day that I was told Dr. Der Simonian would be my new PCP. Upon meeting Dr. Der Simonian, she immediately put my mind at ease – not only with her compassionate bedside manner, but also with her overall knowledge about my disease, as well as her willingness to oversee my care throughout the complex journey that I was about to embark on. My words here fail to describe the incredible care that I received from Dr. Der Simonian throughout my journey with cancer. My overall health was always a priority to her, and she took whatever time was necessary to provide the most thorough, empathetic care that I could hope to have. Whether it was during an office visit or on a phone call, I inevitably had many questions about my health, tests that I was undergoing, my prognosis, etc. Dr. Der Simonian never made me feel rushed as she patiently and thoroughly answered every single question that I had. Her calming presence and incredible knowledge about every aspect of my health have carried me through my journey to becoming a survivor. I feel SO VERY fortunate to have Dr. D as my PCP. I’ve relocated many times throughout my life, and I have truly NEVER had a more wonderful, caring, intelligent-on-every-level PCP than Dr. D. Her positive energy is infectious and her empathy and all-around care are set at standards that every practitioner can stand to learn from.

I like dr. Der Simonian. I felt listened to and respected by her. So far I've seen her twice - once for me and once for my toddler, and both times she was on time, friendly, and kind. She talked about my weight in a non-judgmental way (she didn't even bring it up - I did) and this is a rarity in my experience. Looking forward to seeing her for years to come.

Don’t walk away from this doctor and this place, RUN! My family and I have moved up to Maine from Massachusetts and were in need of a new doctor. Our insurance said our yearly physicals would be covered 100% with these doctors so it was a done deal. I called to make yearly physical appointments with this office as new patients and it was pretty easy to make the appointments we just had to wait a few months. This was fine because they were just for check ups with nothing pressing to speak of. I went in for my appointment and was weighed and blood pressure taken. Dr. Der Simonian came in for about five minutes we talked about a infant babies and she asked me a couple questions about my birth and birth control methods. I mentioned that my midwives take care of the birth and I choose not to go on the pill because we are planning to have more and the hormones negatively inpact my migraines. She didn’t recommend anything, talk about treatment for anything and no other appointment was mentioned to be booked on the way out. I called my husband and said that was the strangest physical I’ve ever had. I didn’t even have to fast because no blood work was done! Hey it’s 2017, I thought things must be changing?! NOPE I got my bill, which was shocking because my insurance said a physical would be covered completely. They charged me a new patient fee which is fine as I am new patient but my other charge the doctor is claming I came in to talk about issues with my health. I called and questioned this and they said because we talked about my birth and birth control! Are you serious?! Yes they are serious, I had the call pulled up from my appointment since I said I called for a physical. They said their verbiage of making a new patient appointment is only that and a separate physical should have been made on the checking out of the first appointment. Well nothing was mentioned of me not having a physical or needing to make another appointment for one, EVER. I am still fighting the false insurance charges as it is illegal to bill insurance for something that never happened. I work in the health industry and I would never take advantage of my patients like this. It is absolutely disgusting that they are doing this. I should mention I called to make my husbands appointment that same day and he was changed for a physical that was covered 100% but with another doctor who must have some ethics and morals. Don’t waste your time and find a better doctors office that won’t do this to you and your family.
