First Baptist Church

My parents attended this church as children. That was in the Thirties. They were married here in 1955 , and brought me when I was a child through the early Sixties. I remember my Aunt Mollie's wedding here, and my cousin Anna's baptism. I attended Sunday School for several years and still recall some of the projects and activities we enjoyed. Later, after my parents stopped attending, I intermittently returned for services with my grandmother. After her death, I attended once or twice on my own.

The last time I visited, I noted the beauty of the sanctuary and the lovely music. The congregation was small and the members were mostly older, but everyone was friendly. One elderly member even knew my grandmother, or at least pretended out of politeness.

The service was a Northern Baptist service, thoughtful and traditional. My grandmother would approve.
