From start to finish we knew we had the right company to complete the project of converting our area below our deck into a 3 season room. The planning process with James and Sydney was very smooth. They listened to us and worked with us to design a wonderful space that their designers drew up and the build team completed.

Ryan and Nolan were fantastic. They were conscious of making sure the area was cleaned up at the end of every work day. The quality of their work is wonderful. The subcontractors brought in for electrical, painting, cement flooring coating and installation of the Sunscape window system did an outstanding job.

Troy was a great contact person with James Barton. As the project moved along towards completion some leaks appeared. The build team was out here making sure those were addressed.

Our project was a bit challenging because we have composite decking already on and the under decking system had to be installed without removing the decking.

We chose James Barton knowing that they would complete the project correctly. We look forward to many years of enjoying our new 3 season room.

We hired the James Barton Design Team for a complicated project. We decided to update our dated oak kitchen and dining room to a modern kitchen and office. This included moving a load bearing wall! We put in new floors, cabinets, counters, built a pantry, painted, painted, painted. They were great to work with start to finish and super responsive up until even the end. They handled absolutely everything and left the place clean each day. They finished on time and on budget.

Starting a renovation in a new home is a scary proposition. We had seen the work done by James Barton Design Build in two other homes of friends, and there was no question who would do the renovations in our home.
Everyone with whom we worked at James Barton was friendly, helpful and professional. John Miller, our sales representative, has been so helpful. If we had a question or issue, a phone call or text was all it took to have him respond quickly.

Dan, our job supervisor, was the most detail oriented person I have ever met. Each day he told us exactly what was going to be done, and it was accomplished. Each day, Dan had the work area cleaned and swept before he and his team left for the day.

Troy, the scheduler, had every day scheduled and set with who would be working in our home and what would be done.

Kayleigh, our designer, was a wealth of information in helping us to choose colors and finishes to fit our style and likes. She was truly a joy with whom to work.

Nicole was the designer who helped with our upstairs choices for the kitchen and carpet choices. She was also very helpful in that process.

The scope of our work included the remodel of a main level (including kitchen, mudroom, bathrooms), master bedroom (including master bath), laundry room, and global painting of walls and wood trim throughout the home. From start to finish they were upfront and accurate with both timeline and pricing. The staff that we worked with were professional. The design team was easy to work with, presented excellent ideas/plans, and was willing to listen to our thoughts and ideas as well. The trades-workers were very polite and conscientious as well as skilled in their trades.

I would highly recommend JBDB for your remodelling needs! They have a great working relationship with their employees and subcontractors. They were respectful of myself, my mother, brother and my property. They cleaned up after themselves daily. Any problem that arose, they took care of it. I had a fairly large project of a 400 sq ft addition put on the back and side of my house, plus bumped out the kitchen wall. They were here from July to November and it was hard using the dining room as a make shift kitchen but worth it in the end. I really appreciated my designer Kayleigh’s input and her ideas! Their carpenters, Pat, Ryan, Dan, Mike, and the rest of the team are really creative and their workmanship is top notch. Their subcontractors as well. Of course, there were oh-oh’s like a crack in the corner of my foundation. So make sure you have money on hand for the unforeseen. I especially liked that they give you a schedule of what they’re doing that day and who is scheduled to be there. Those things can change but Troy, the production manager was a phone-call or text away. Get a quote from them! John Miller, VP of sales, was very down to earth and easy to talk to. They are a middle to high end company, but given how much headache I COULD have had and the beautiful 12 x 12 bedroom, big bathroom, laundry closet, larger more functional kitchen, remodelled hallway with storage closet, new deck and new roof, well, I didn’t mind signing those checks!

We are very impressed with James Barton Design-Build (JBDB) for their professionalism, organization, the quality of work, and a VERY smooth design and build process from Day 1! We had them renovate our basement into a home theater and we are very happy with the makeover. Everyone from the team - from James to Sydney (designer), to Troy (Production Manager) and all of their staff and crew - has been very pleasant to work with. What we especially appreciated about JBDB is when we encountered a personal roadblock, where we needed to cut down the scope of the project, JBDB was very gracious and cooperative with our request. Barton helped us update our 1970s rambler with a full remodel of the kitchen, dining and living room. We started with a crowded outdated kitchen and three rooms. From start to finish, the Barton team helped us dream, design and build an entirely new living space. Our finished product is open concept with lots of storage, sunlight and a gorgeous island. We just got done with a 2 month project with James Barton and it turned out wonderfully! We finished our previously unfinished basement. Everyone I talk to consistently has delays and issues, and we didn't have any of that. They were on time or early the entire time, communicated often with us so we knew what was going on, and anytime something didn't go to plan, we got to discuss it and make a choice together. They truly take pride in their work and it shows in their final product. They were very detail-oriented, they cleaned up their workspace every day and were super respectful when entering our home. We had just a fantastic experience and will be using them again for our next project.

As a cabinet maker and worked for a design build firm my self. wanted to do a deck project that required much more than just an average deck. I searched for a company that could handle full on roof attachment to house. and design help to make all tie together. James barton seemed to fit the bill. so went with them and proceeded to meet or exceed all expectations. glad I hooked up with this company. looking forward for another siding project

We've used JBDB for several projects over the past several years, including (1) a full basement remodel, (2) whole home re-siding, and (3) a big outdoor project that included a gas firepit, stone patio, large deck and new landscaping.

We've always found our experience with JBDB's entire team of designers, project managers and contractors to be very professional and first-class. We've had many friends and family (and some who are very picky!) comment about the amazing quality of their work. While they certainly are not the cheapest, my experience with other general contractors leads me to believe they are the best and worth the investment. They follow a very detailed schedule, hitting each key milestone (including city building code inspections) to the day, with regular updates on project progress. And every concern we've ever raised has always been addressed very quickly, even answering late night texts.

His design team and contracted craftsmen are quintessential artisans – the tilers, carpenters, painters, designers, and all trades. By the way, one person was nicer than the next. James Madsen worked the remodel like a true project manager and hit every single date in the schedule. Demolition did not begin until all building supplies were available in his warehouse. His team spent many hours with us in design and planning so that we had time to consider materials, coordination of color and style and whether or not an item had to be back ordered or was in plentiful supply. The change order process was clear and easy to understand. And to be clear, the end product was worth every penny. We will love and live in this remodel for years to come!
