The Hair District

A friend researched and found Roxanne Carlson for me. Knowing of my challenges with curly hair and efforts to maintain its original moisture and natural beachy curls, they set out to find me the Twin Cities’ top hair specialist.

Actually, my friend knew Horst personally and had/has a very high regard for individuals trained at the Horst/Aveda Institute. Roxanne has helped me restore my hair’s natural moisture and developed a look that I’m very pleased with. Having been to multiple hair salons previously, she has been truly kind and knowledgeable in sharing maintenance tips.

They really stand behind their advertised concept of self-care. I find that they also carry a lovely range of to-go gift items that are perfect for my lady friends. It’s also easy to purchase your own hair products to use at home.

I’ve found it’s best to schedule well in advance, although they are very accommodating for last-minute requests. Their website provides an easy online booking system via Meevo. Parking has been no problem for me. There are handy curbside spaces available right out front. They have 8 handy locations in the metro, but I favor the Burnsville one because Roxanne is there.

I’d consider them a full-service hair salon as they also provide supplemental services. While they are top hair experts, they are also beauty, cosmetic & personal care specialists. Now, I’m telling my mother and sisters about them. Check them out for anti-aging skin treatments like Dermatude Meta Therapy, or waxing, and permanent makeup.

I highly recommend The Haircut District Burnsville, MN location for its friendliness, professionalism, upbeat atmosphere, and top-notch staff. Ricardo is always quick to offer a generous smile, welcome, and a cup of coffee!

Amber is amazing! Every time I go to her she surprises me each time on how great she is with my hair and styling it and the way she cuts and colors it as well. First person to actually do what I wanted with my hair. So worth the money and she’s a very kind soul and very talented. Thank you for a great experience each time!

Ashley is amazing! She genuinely cares and listens to what her clients want, and goes above and beyond to give a great experience and outcome. I've gotten more compliments on my hair after seeing her than I have in years!

Pam was wonderful. She never cut a black persons hair and she did a great job. Shampooed cut and styled.

From the moment I walk through the door at The Hair District I feel better, and if I am lucky enough to see Shannon at the front desk; I am smiling. By the time I sit down at Toni’s chair and beg for her to work magic and make me pretty, I am laughing. I really like coming here and seeing Toni; I find her to be a genuine, awe-inspiring, and fun-loving person. The fact that she actually does work magic with my haircut and/or color is an amazing thing in itself. I have been to Toni twice for color since meeting her in April. Each time the result was different in color, depth, and flow (and me). Toni makes me look and feel so pretty. I LOVE my hair.

The only caveat I have is for the location and parking. Arrive earlier than your time, you may get lucky and find close-to-the-door parking or plan on walking from the covered parking nearby. That’s it.

I loved my experience here! I had an appointment with Kaitlyn and she was fantastic. She heard what my vision was and she knew exactly how to create it. I was able to tell her my length, and type of cut and she nailed it. She was also very good company. Great conversation. Highly Recommend!

I received the most horrible haircut of my life at another salon in Burnsville. My daughter told me to go to The Hair District because they were one of the best…. So, I took her advice and made an appointment with Amber Remus, OMGOSH !!! I cannot believe how masterfully she transformed my mullet into the cutest pixie ever. I knew it was going to be a great cut because she really took her time and I could tell that she took pride in her work. In addition, she was so friendly and clearly a social butterfly it was like we had known each other for years. Even tho I now live in Sartell, I will make the drive to see her for as long as she’s at that salon. Thank you Amber you are AMAZING.

I got an appointment with Bri for hair color and cut. I showed her a picture on google on what hair color I was expecting for my highlights and she did exactly the same. Super happy with her service. Recommended to other friends too.

This was a new salon for us, but my husband and I both needed a cut. Our stylist was Pam, and she was great. Both out cuts were unexpected and looked better than I had hoped for.

I’ve been to the Hair District a few times in the Burnsville location with my mom and I was younger. However, just recently I started going there myself, and I could not recommend it more!! I’ve always struggled with bad haircuts and would eventually just let my hair grow out really long. However, Kaitlyn here at the Burnsville THD does an AMAZING job!! I’ve now got my haircut by her four times and I love it so much! Definitely the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten in my life. I’m no longer scared of going to the hairdresser and will strictly stick to this salon. 10/10 recommend!!!

Judy is an amazing stylist. She always knows what’s best for my hair type and has great suggestions. She is knowledge and wonderful to talk with. She makes the experience of going to a salon feel very warm and welcoming. The salon is clean and everyone is polite and Knowles able about products and services.

My stylist Ming Chu is Ouidad certified to cut curly hair. I love how he keeps my curls manageable. I also like the overall ambience of The Hair District.

I see Sarah for all my skin care needs! Waxing, facials, and my fav- micro channeling! She is an Advanced Practice Esthetician and sooo knowledgeable

Tusi did a FANTASTIC job on my hair extensions. I've wanted to get extensions for YEARS but didn't know which kind to get. I didn't know anything about them. She helped me make an informed decision and followed up with a PHENOMENAL job! Will definitely be going back to see her for anymore hair services.

Such a great experience! After 9 long months and needing someone to tame my curly mane Kyra did just that! She took the time to give my hair the extra TLC it needed! Truly feels like a family atmosphere where they take care of and treat clients like family! As a curly girl who is very particular about who cuts her hair I totally recommend!

It was my first time coming here, I made an appointment online with whoever was available the next day and chose a timeslot with Pam. My hair hadn't been cut since the beginning of our current events, was dry and frayed at the ends, and to top it off, had a lot of weird residue from a product I used that made my hair near possible to just comb through at the ends. She shampooed twice, combed it out, and did a straight trim that got rid of the ends while keeping as much length of the healthier hair as she could. It's been a couple of weeks since and I'm still regretting that I didn't go earlier to cut my hair with her. It looks so much healthier, I don't feel any product buildup, and although I asked for a straight cut/ one length at the ends, it doesn't look choppy at all. She listened to all the concerns I had about my hair and spent a lot of time fixing it which I appreciate. Definitely recommend!

Can't recommend this place enough - Kenny (the front desk guy) has always been friendly on the phone and even went as far to call my hair stylist on their personal cell a few times to see if they could get me in.

My personal hair stylist is Lisa Smith and I seriously can't recommend her enough. Always willing to work with you on your personal cut preference. I've never had a problem getting a brow wax even though I normally forget to ask for it and is super friendly. I've never felt pressured to buy products or anything like that which makes me like this place even more (but on a side note, the few times I have bought product, her recommendations were really good).

I'm sure if you want the full salon experience, they can accommodate you but if you're like me where I just want a basic conversation (or occasionally none), good workmanship and to get in and out with no hassles, this is the place for you.

Lisa has been my stylist for almost 10 years. She is always customer centered and treats me as if I was family! She knows all of her customers so well!! The new Hair District in which she works is so beautiful, trendy, clean and all of the staff are so friendly and welcoming!

I got a hair cut from Jessica. It was a big change! She does an amazing job, not my first cut from her. She educated me on the appropriate products to style my new cut. I feel amazing, highly recommend for any of your hair care needs!!!

I had the opportunity to have Toni Thomas cut and color my hair. Not only did we do a different cut than what I currently had she also modified my color to match my cut! I absolutely love my hair and will be back! If you are looking for a stylist you have found her! Thank you Toni!!
