El Azteca

El Azteca has been a family favorite for over a decade. With generous portion sizes, fantastic flavors, fair prices, it’s an excellent value all around.

It’s a very popular spot in Apple Valley, and though it can be quite busy, we have never needed reservations, and very rarely have had to wait for a table. The decor is delightful, with roof tiles and well designed booths that feel cozy and private. Many of the servers have been there for a decade or more, so they are well experienced and provide great service. The food service is also exceptionally, remarkably fast. It is rare that we ever have to wait longer than 10 minutes after we place our order for it to be fully delivered to the table. We frequently have the reaction, “Wow! Already?”

The complimentary chips are always fresh, crisp, and tasty. They have a unique white salsa (served with tasty traditional salsa) that is usually the tipping point to bring us back over other Tex-Mex places.

A couple of menu favorites are the Burrito San Jose, which combines chicken, chorizo, and queso blanco, and the fajitas for two platter, which easily feeds our family of four (with leftovers).

El Azteca it’s easily one of our favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in the state.

Service was great and the decor is welcoming! Really enjoyed the shredded beef, seasoned so well and so tender. We didn't get their drinks but would come back to try their frozen drinks and food again. Portion sizes were large and it was overall very affordable, even with an appetizer

I was back visiting my son's after being away for 8 years. El Azteca was a regular dinner option for my wife and I years ago when we lived nearby in Apple Valley. Happy to say it still has excellent enchiladas. My son got the fajita burritos which I have to say are really other enchiladas stuffed with fajita stuff. Service was lightning fast yet friendly.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Twin Cities. The food is excellent... it's hard to describe but it's just tastier than anyplace else we've gone. My favorite dish is the Enchiladas Cancun. Don't be afraid of seafood in MN at Mexican restaurant, this is delicious. The wine sauce is perfect. Highly recommend the blended mango margarita as well.

Service was excellent, even on a busy Friday night. All around a great experience.

Pretty tasty fare, good service beautifully decorated restaurant, fairly private outdoor patio. You can tell they put a lot of thought into making this place an old world beautiful place to eat.

This is one of my all time favorites! The service is great and if it's not a full house they are very fast! The food is always delicious! 10/10 would recommend!

I'm often surprised how a strip mall can house a little gem . I really like this place! Great food and atmosphere.

Great food and service. Visited with a big group and had no problems. Waitress did an excellent job at making sure everyone received what we ordered. I ordered the chipotle enchiladas and tres leches. Both were delicious. Have been here before with family and will certainly be here again.

Dos Equis amber on tap. That alone gets me there. Holy guacamole I have tried every Mexican food within 10 mi of Burnsville and this so far is my favorite.

This was our first time at The Azteca and I was not disapointed.

The house margaritas were really good, not too sweet and perfecr size.

Their queso fundido with chorizo was great with the chips.

I ordered the Pina Loka and I loved the combo steak + chicken with al pastor seasoning. My husband ordered El Paisano Pollo and he loved the shrimp + chicken combo.

Service was awesome, waters were topped, the drink and apps came in before our meal.

We will be back for sure as there are other items in the menu that we would like to try.

Lot of foot traffic if they sit you by the door. Especially if you're on the side as the bathrooms.
