Amazing sushi! To me, they serve the best sushi in NJ and their other dishes are delicious too. Very fresh ingredients. They often have unusual and unique specials. The decor is simple but the food will keep you coming back!❤

The taste is pretty simple and straightforward. The price is reasonable. Staffs were friendly and helpful. あん肝 was delicious, ネギトロ手巻き was perfect, 中トロ also served generously. Definitely a place I would recommend !

I read this was rated #1 sushi in NJ and it definitely didn't disappoint! Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. The hand rolls with seaweed wrapping were amazing!

My family and I have been coming here since 2014. In all of this time, we have not found a better sushi spot, even in NYC. More amazing is that Tomo has been the only chef for the entire time. The staff, Fin and Wendy, have also been a pleasure to get to know over the years. Always super kind and a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, Tomo will be retiring soon but we all feel so lucky to have enjoyed this magnificent restaurant for so many years. We will never forget Tomo, Fin, and Wendy. :-)

Tomo's is excellent, absolutely would recommend.
Make a reservation in advance! They're closed on Monday and Tuesday.
The hand rolls and salmon were out of this world. Some of the best fish I've had in my life.
I can't wait to go back!
They only do takeout for lunch.

We dine at this place a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stop thinking about it ever since! The sushi was so awesome and fish was fresh. Cooked dishes all had great taste.

Remember to book reservations!!!

I’ve been dining at Tomo’s for years, and it is always a fantastic culinary experience. Starting with the service - Fin always remembers my name and the names of our boys. No matter how long - she never forgets names or orders.
The food: is outstanding. Fresh, incredible high grade sushi, sashimi and creations.

THE BEST traditional sushi you will find in NJ. Tomo is a true artist and he runs his restaurant with respect, dedication and a dash of fun. We LOVE this place so much! Anyone complaining just really has no idea...

There is no better Japanese cuisine than at Tomo's.

I have traveled to Japan, and tried local restaurants with the freshest fish. I can honestly say that Tomo’s 🐟 presentation, flavor, dedication and talent puts him above those others.

Tomo’s 🐟 is one of the few places in NJ where you can get such authentic delicious Japanese cuisine.

Such a lovely hidden gem! You likely wouldn't find this place unless you were looking for it specifically but I am here to tell you to look for it! Nestled between the movie theater and Chuck E. Cheese's on Route 10, this is definitely one of the highest quality Japanese restaurants I've been to in the area. While completely unassuming both outside and inside, the food is of the highest quality. As many of us know, quality is especially key when it comes to sushi.

One of my favorite items of the night was the Monkfish Liver (Ankimo). These are not my words, but truly the best way to describe this dish: "Very rich and creamy, but yet at the same time very light and delicate, feeling silky and velvety to the palate." We also got the Shimeji Butter (mushrooms) and Usuzukuri (thinly sliced fluke sashimi with ponzu sauce).

For the main courses, we shared SakeWafugrill (grilled salmon with garlic & butter) and the Sushi Matsu ( 8 pcs. included chutoro, yellowtail & ikura or tobiko.) with a fatty tuna hand roll. All very fresh fish, similar to an omakase experience but everything was served at the same time.

The two women that were working there on this night were super sweet and attentive. They always made sure our hot water glasses were full and that we have everything we need. Keep in mind that due to the current state of events, they do ask that you make reservations by 5:00PM if you want to dine-in. There are a limited number of tables available but they do also have takeout.

Most authentic and best quality Japanese food in NJ I know, coming from a Japanese person! Make a reservation, be on time, and get served great food, conveniently next to a movie theater (perfect night out)!

What a hidden gem! Been here at least half a dozen time, incredibly fresh and yummy every single time! Our go to choice in NJ for something special. Had the omakase here for the first time today, the food is at least as good if not better than offerings from big name restaurants in NYC (e.g. Sushi Dojo, Kura). Omakase offering here feels kind of like kaiseki, five courses with great variety along with sushi and sashimi.

One of my favorite restaurants indeed! Tomo's is this little gem hidden in the AMC/Chuck E Chees plaza. This Japanese restaurant is as authentic as you can find in Morristown Area. The chef is Japanese, who prepares both raw and cooked food, and I absolutely love the cooked dishes! Sushi and Sashimi are also fresh and delicious. Price is not as cheap as other knock-offs but you do get more than what you pay for in this restaurant as far as quality.

The service is also great, Fin the waitress really takes care of the customers. The restaurant does get busy at dinner time ,and it is highly recommended to make a reservation ahead of time as it's just one chef running in the kitchen and the restaurant can only take in that many customers at once!

Yesterday was our first dinner at Tomo's in more than a year; it was superb!!! We had thinly sliced fluke sashi - cold and sweet and firm- Tomo's special gyozos - which are special - lotus root, dancing mushroom and shisito pepper tempura - each of which was delicious, not greasy, and different, and yellow tail and blue tuna handrolls - which were so fresh and delicate and perfect.

One of the best sushi places in NJ!!!! Tomo is extremely particular about what he serves and and it is very traditional Japanese food. There are only a couple rolls to choose from - this is not for people who are interested in eating Americanized sushi. But if you really love real Japanese food this is the place to go. His barbecued eel is TO DIE FOR!!! I highly recommend the Omakasechirashi, and the tempura lotus root as well. He always has a few less common fish and shellfish on the specials board and does an amazing job pairing them with the perfect sauces. The miso soup is a hair different than the ones you get in most places and utter perfection. The salad that comes with lunch has the best ginger dressing I've ever had. I haven't eaten anything here that I didn't rave about afterwards, usually for hours!

Reservations are mandatory on weekends. He does not have a second chef and does all of the cooking himself so he will only allow in as many people as he can serve and still maintain his standards. Absolutely no walk
-ins on Friday and Saturday. I usually go for lunch and that's the best time to go in my opinion. It's quiet and you get plenty of attention from the two servers, who are really sweet. After I came in twice, they remembered what I order and the change I make to it. I've since switched up what I order occasionally but once I say the name they add the change before I can ask.

Really the best and right up there with Shumi in Somerville, which I never thought I'd say. The only place I've had better sushi was in San Diego where the sea urchin came off the boat that morning. Tomo is really unbelievably good at what he does.

Better than most over priced places in NYC. Super high quality Toro for ⅓ the price you'll pay in an upscale place. Very legit, quaint Izakaya style sushi restaurant. Check it out of you're passing through East Hanover.
