A stunning natural area not far from NYC. You could hike here for years, taking new trails all the time. I was pleased by how quiet it was, how free of litter, and how difficult some of the hiking was (challenging in a good way!). I will be back to try more trails.

Photos and videos are from yesterday, foliage views are great 👍🏻 It’s expected to reach full foliage next week and I’m sure it’ll be pretty then as well.

Started hiking with my dog about a year ago. Harriman state park is at the top of our list. Beautiful scenery, tons of hikes to choose from (levels, duration, scenic, etc). Definitely check it out!

A great park!! Took a picture of the map at the entrance and only had to backtrack once or twice when blazes were sparse. Lots of trail options, with some more crowded than others. It's pretty rocky so I would recommend good shoes w ankle support

I had one of my best weekends here. This park is big and offers so many opportunities: hiking, barbecuing, swimming, canoeing, it was a blessing! The whole family enjoyed it and we came back very rested and energized. Nothing beats the beauty of nature.

Great escape from the insanity of the city, peaceful, filled with beautiful lakes great trails for hiking and best of all no cell service. If you have a car you’re doing a disservice by not going at least twice a month! Love this place!

Plenty of trails and not from far from Manhattan. I like to take people new to hiking here as there are a variety of difficulties and paths to choose from. Just make sure to bring bug spray. They're pretty angry at us this year.

We went into a trailhead through the Reese Meadow Visitor Center. The maps and signage along the way to two lakes up top the mountain are clearly marked. At the visitor center the bathrooms were clean but there was little in the way of parking. The view of the lakes were great and so was the climb to the peak of Diamond Mountain. The trail(s) here are moderate difficulty, not recommended for beginners.

I hike here regularly. If you want to avoid the crowds at Reeves Brook trail go early. Parking Lot is usually full by 930am. There are a lot of trails to explore so grab a trail map or an app like like all trails and get out there.

Such a beautiful park. We come here to hike. There are a few trails. We haven't tried all of them, but those we have, run past little streams, waterfalls, and end up near a beautiful mountain lake. Besides just sitting there and taking in a beautiful nature scene, there are little fish in the water who come by to say hello.
Only trouble is, parking can be tricky. They have a parking lot, but it only holds about 10 cars. If you can't park here, you can find a spot on the road, but you may have to drive a bit past the trails and walk along the road to get back.
Also, if you visit, make sure to stay hydrated, and please wear some sort of bug protection, as the wooded areas do tend to have ticks. If you forget, there is a homey little store before you start out on the trails that carries Many things you may need. Protein/granola bars, drinks, maps, bug spray, tick removers, etc.
Average hike/walk may take from 2-4 hours, depending on how quickly you walk.. Pack a lunch, snacks, water. Enjoy the day.

Wonderful walkway to the top, beautiful clean lake with places to rest. We needed altogether around 3 hours total.

plenty of land, numerous lakes and water front, but the best part is the bunch of hiking trail, short ones and long ones. If I had the time left I think I could go through 3/4 and still not finish the park, I hiked and camp, and hunted in green swamp Florida for like ten years and only and did half ,and green swamp is over 64,000 acres. Harriman I not sure but it almost as big.

One of the best State Parks in New York and New Jersey. Great hiking trails. Total of 7 beautiful lakes in the park. Lots of fishing spots. All year around fishing available with Kayak and boat launch areas. It is also right next to Bear Mountain State Park. Overall a very fun place.

My wife and I absolutely love Harriman. Such a huge park and not far from NYC. So many trails and different landscapes to explore. Since the pandemic started we’ve been seeing a lot more wildlife in the park. Be careful when off trail as there are huge timber rattle snakes in the brush. They aren’t aggressive but will strike if you get to close. There’s a whole bunch of summer camps in the park that are fun to explore. Brings me back to being a kid. There’s a lot of great places to camp in the park and a few lean to’s if you get to them first. You can explore mountain tops to swampy bogs. You can kayak, swim at the beach, bbq, mountain bike, hike and so much more. So much diversity in this park.

Great place for hiking, exploring, picture taking, or any other outdoor activities you enjoy. huge park with lots of lakes, rivers, and vistas. So much to see here. Quiet and beautiful in the winter! Very little activity this time of year. Seems like you have the whole park to yourself. A great park with free parking and hours/miles of trails to explore. It is place of great beauty. So close to NYC, but so removed from the traffic, noise, and crowds. You can get a good workout here, and regenerate your soul with these incredible views. If that wasn't enough, there is also lots of gorgeous lakes with rocky shores, and lonely islands. I advice to everyone to come and see it.
