Discover Newport

So we were planning to come to Newport Rhode island but we only had 5 hours available to visit. Unfortunately there's more here to see then a lots for just one day. Knowingly we made the choice to take a trolley tour and chose the Discover Newport tour. Now, normally I would not want to take these tours because I find one is often restricted by time.However I figured this would be the best way to see the attractions of Newport. Our driver Russ, was knowledgeable, patient and had a touch of great humor. I would definitely recommend anyone go on this tour as a great way to save time on planning and getting orientated to Newport, Rhode Island.

Nicely done! The history of this area is the foundation for what it means to me to be an American: tolerant, caring and well educated. Come and see what you can learn.

Very helpful people. You can buy event tickets here, and you will be saving a lot of time if you buy mansion tickets here.
The parking is cheap if you buy the day pass. Good way to save money. Bus has decent connectivity.

It’s really very good place with a beautiful view. The visitor center is nice, clean and Friendly knowledgeable staff and very helpful. You will get all information from here. Very good service. Near by everything is available. Recommended.

A must if you are touring the area! Eleanor is a gem who made our trip very enjoyable by listening to our needs, making great suggestions, and found us the perfect place to stay. Everyone we talked to who worked there was very friendly and helpful, fantastic visitor center!

If youre visiting Newport it only makes sense to stop here! It's more than just a Visitors Center.. It's wheelchair friendly, has public restrooms, place to get coffee. The people who work behind the desk are so friendly and I found to be really knowledgeable about the area and history of the place.
There's also a couple of shops, one in particular with some beautiful one off items of jewellery and clothing. They also stock a lot of souvenirs.. fridge magnets etc.
On the whole, well worth a visit.

Friendly staff and I was able to validate my parking ticket which meant I got half an hour if parking off! The staff member helped us find the bus route that we could take to get to the cliff walk. Great place.

nice large visitors center, friendly and helpful staff. has a gift shop, plenty of maps. you can buy tickets to the mansions. parking is not free in the parking deck. the desk will give you $2 off parking.

As a former group travel planner, I was lucky enough to interact with this great group of people over an 8 day period in September. Since I used exclusively public transportation while here, I depended on them for the success of my vacation. Each and every employee went out of their way to greet me with enthusiasm, helpfulness, and informed ideas with humor each day. They became family by the end. Newport Visitors Center is now #1 in travel amenities and location in my book due to my pleasant experience. Cant wait to go back. Thanks to each and every person and to Bailey for going the extra mile. Newport is the team to beat for serving the clientele with a smile!!!!!

Large visitor center with parking. You will need to pay for parking, but they will validate so you get 30 minutes free. Staff is very helpful. There were several staff members available to help.

Convenient parking. Very helpful for visitors. Lots of good inside local information. Recommend all visitors to stop here if there are no friends acting as tour guides for the Newport Area and surrounding area.

Visitors information center is a one place tourist information center where you get all the information about the places to visit in NewPort!
It's a nice and clean place, friendly staff and tickets to all attractions with a nice waiting area. Ample parking space with ticket price per 1/2hr.

Great service by the staff here. Thanks for the help in guiding me around and keeping it straight forward about what places I should go check out. For anyone who has not visited Newport, please visit you won't regret it.

Excellent place to start your visit with lots of information about Newport. Also where you start trolley tours. Has reasonably priced jewelry store. Everyone working there was nice and super helpful

The people who work here are super friendly and willing to point you in the best direction for your needs. It's located right at the bus station and close to Thames St. There are also a lot of outlets around should you need to spend some time charging your phone :)

Talk about useful info given concisely. We were in and out with 5 minutes: we told the representative how long we were in town and she gave several options and outlines on a local map. All places visited were great!

It's an island, it's a party, it's home. Regardless of how far or long one goes away to home it's different. That chill up one's spine at the to of the bridge seeing our harbor all in lights and boats just as adorable, the water energy taken in just being it presence. Newport , Electric Elephant
