Amazing place, the curator of this museum knows the whole area! It is worth going there and visiting the collected collections. The lady who works there will give you very accurate maps and draw the most interesting places on them that you will not find anywhere! I recommend it, I came there all the way from Poland! Greetings, curator, a wonderful woman!

A quick stop through for the restroom.s led me to learn some interesting history about the first female cinematographer.

Other items of interest to see is the little museum and antique vehicles that were used to work the area. Early Ingersoll Rand work truck pictures.

If you’re headed to Mono Lake then stop by the upside down house. You can’t go inside but how often do you get to see a house that’s upside down?

It's definitely upside down. Not much to see from the outside other than a little window to look in.

Cute little stop to check out on the way to Lake Tahoe. Nice place to stretch your legs and let the kids run for a bit.
Nearby public restrooms are clean and surprising well kept as they are seldom used.

Great little museum in Lee Vining, just down from the Mono Cone. Sat and had lunch under a big tree there. Lots of interesting stuff to see. Also a small kids park on the opposite side to entertain the little ones. Clean and great view of Mono Lake...Upside-down house is very interesting.

Fun little out of the way spot connected to an amazing museum with a lot of local history. Everything in the museum has been donated by locals and they are some amazing family heirlooms that really immerse you in history. They have an old leather sewing machine which you may not find elsewhere as it is supposedly only one of two in the world from that time. The hosts are very informative and can generally tell you a lot about the area and the best things to see. They also have many great brochures and maps, better than you will find most places.

Oh, and the upside down house. Its real, and its been there for some time. Its a real gem. If you want to know more you'll have to just go and see it.

Because of Huell Howser, I took my mum to Upside Down House this past weekend, for Mothers Day. We also went 'around' Mono Lake. It was a very memorable trip. Thank you LV!!

Over 40 years ago.My husband and I took the Tioga pass route from Fresno to our home in Mammoth Lake 1980. Such beauty and quietness. One could hear the voice of God whispering through the trees...come this way and think on Me.

As far as upside-down houses go, this one was a little small but that seems to be in these days. It was a neat site to see so I can at least say I’ve seen it and it helped us pass the time until the Frostie’s opened at 11.
