MUST TRY! Features Montana beef, locally sourced food. My go to menu item is the fried chicken sandwich. Lawd have mercy it's good! I like a lot of things about this place, but my favorite has to be the friendly, hard working staff. Our waitress gave us suggestions, joked along with us, and was an absolute joy the entire visit. Will definitely be back!

If I could rate them 10 stars, I would. Maddie is top notch. Very friendly and welcoming!! The food was equally amazing!!!! You can tell that they care about the product they put out and their customers. I wish I could take this whole business, staff and all, home to Tennessee with me.

From the time we walked in and were immediately greeted, we felt this was going to be a good experience.
Burgers are seriously not comparable to anywhere else. Fresh made in house buns and sauces. Enough said.

Best burger in Bozeman, MT! I had an opportunity to sample burgers from three of the most recommended restaurants in Bozeman, and Backcountry Burger Bar hands down sits at the top over Ted's Montana Grill and Montana Ale Works. More impressive and importantly, the staff in the restaurant are absolutely amazing! They are so welcoming and engaging. They made the experience awesome! Great food, great local beer options, and great vibes at this wonderful restaurant. To the kitchen and bar staff, Coach really appreciates all of you, and if I ever come back to Bozeman, MT, you are 100% my first stop! Backcountry Burger Bar is a must during your Bozeman, MT travels if you love a great burger and awesome people!

Food: Overall good! The Clamity Jane was the best. Food came out very quickly and burgers were hot. Onion straws were cold but were addicting after munching down. Especially with backcountry sauce!

Service: Friendly and attentive. Got a seat quickly too which is a plus!

Atmosphere: Booths are spacious and comfy, but overall restaurant is fairly small so wouldn’t be ideal if it were a busy night.

Get. the. curry. cheese. fries. Best curry cheese fries I’ve ever had. The onion rings are good too. And the service is excellent.

There is a reason this place has so many 5 star reviews. Not from here and travel a lot from work. This is by far the best burger I have ever had in my life in a little town of Montana. Seriously. Also, service was incredible. Came here twice in my stay because the burger was so good I needed a round two. Get the calamity Jane but sub the patty for the corn, rice, black bean patty. I’m not a vegetarian but this patty is made in house and it’s beyond amazing with its flavoring. Won’t regret it.

This was a good burger spot on Main Street. All of the food was really good and the place had a good vibe.

Backcountry was great! When we first walked in, we were surprised by how loud it was, but it is a bar, so it makes sense. It was fine throughout our time there. However, the food was sensational. My husband got a bison burger and I ended up getting the Backcountry burger and substituted out the fried chicken instead of beef. Man, that was an amazing decision!

My chicken sandwich was great. The chicken had a very light and crispy batter and was oh so juicy and delicious. It wasn't dry at all like you find some fried chicken to get. It was juicy and tender throughout the entire piece, and it was a big piece of chicken! The bison burger was also super tasty.

We also tried the onion rings, poutine fries, and fried cheese curds.

The curds were delicious but could have been a little more crispy. They had a good coating and flavor, but definitely lacked the crisp that I'm used to having on cheese curds.

The onion rings were super good. It was weird at first eating these little onion straws just on their own and not as a topping on something, but they were so good, and came with a delicious sauce.

The poutine fries were great. I didn't like the curds on them as much as just everything else with them, but my husband is a huge cheese fan and thoroughly enjoyed them! I like my cheese crispy, so that's nothing against this dish at all.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good food!

One of the best Bison Burgers I've ever ate! I opted to leave bbq sauce off to taste the quality of meat but everything else was made as to menu. Bun was very light and soft and Bison was perfectly cooked and great flavor. I actually wanted another one after eating mine.. I'd get the extra bison patty next time. Can't wait to return when we travel through Montana again.

Came here for dinner tonight. The place was cozy and so clean. Our waiter and all the staff were so kind. Poutine was tasty and the gravy with it was excellent. Also excellent were the backcountry burger and spicy Nashville chicken sandwich. Prices were reasonable. We were so glad we stopped in.

We stopped here for burgers after a day of snowboarding out at Bridger. We all thought the burgers were great! Dad tried the bison burger and it was delicious. Everything is ordered ala carte. Fries were delicious but the $4 size of fries are definitely single person serving. The onions draws are good for probably 3ish people. The kids meals do not come with fries or a pop, and the basic kids burger is $9.

This place has amazing food and great staff. The burgers are from scratch, and it shows. The buns are made fresh daily, and meat is full of flavor. The fries are local and fresh as well. Also had the haystack onion rings for an appitizer. Price is up there for a burger, but it's worth it, in my opinion. Will go back when we visit Bozeman again.

This place! Great service food and bevs...the french onion was 2die4. I did make the suggestion that they add the onion strings on top to their menu cuz that was *chefs kiss 💋 *

Delicious food and excellent service! Very clean, great location, friendly staff; absolutely no complaints! Highly recommend the Wildfire and the Marias burgers. Bozeman Brewing Amber Ale is a new favorite local brew. Cannot recommend this place enough!

The smells were almost as good as the taste! The staff was so friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was like hanging out at your best friend's house! This was our first visit, but it won't be our last!

Fantastic experience at Backcountry Burger! Great bison burger and stellar fries and sauce. Went in the day after Christmas and the restaurant was slammed, but the minimal staff working that day took it in stride and did a great job getting everyone their food as fast as possible. Would absolutely recommend!!
