We had an excellent experience at Early Mountain Vineyards. The whole place is a absolutely stunning. The wine was delicious and our waitress was amazing. We were a bit disappointed in the food selection, but what we did order was good. Between our group members we tried the wine flight, a glass of sparkling, and the Rise red . We enjoyed everything and would definitely go back in the future.

Lovely vinyard and restaurant. Love the red wines here (Foothills 2022, Eluvium 2020, 2020 Cab Franc). Had the local Bison steak. Fantastic service - extremely attentive. The Chef and Wine director have quite the resume. We will be back!

Wow! The bison ribeye was great and the wine was fantastic! The Brussels sprouts had such a great flavor as well. The rumchata cake was a great way to end the meal and left me wanting more lol. Everyone was super friendly and honestly we just wanted to sit there all day and hang out lol. Props to the Chef! This place had such lovely esthetics as well!

Had a fantastic time here for my birthday weekend, gorgeous grounds and tasting room. Would definitely recommend making reservations in advance if you are planning to sit outside. Great selection of wines and flights paired with light and amazing food. We loved strolling through the property taking all the sun on beautiful weekend.

Fantastic winery in Virginia. I dont like va wines but their food was bomb. I would definitely recommend this place. The white wines tasted ok. Get wild mushrooms if you like mushrooms. Mussels were not that interesting.

Absolutely beautiful Vineyard located in the hills outside of Charlottesville. Perfect day trip from VA Beach. Out of all the vineyards in the area we picked this one because they have a full kitchen and turn out some very delicious food.

The property is absolutely gorgeous, it's feels like you jumped into a painting. We went in on a Friday and they were moderately busy so I recommend reservations. They also have an absolutely beautiful out back area with a separate "Meadows" menu.

They have so many different wines it was hard to choose a flight. All of the ones we tried were delicious, every single one. The charcuterie and fried polenta also went perfectly with all of our wine. There are also several B&Bs' in the area if you want to make a long weekend out of your trip.

Sharing from a wedding photographer's point of view; this place is incredible! They offer a great variety of locations - having their own "getting ready" area off site, beautiful landscapes surrounding the space, and plenty of outdoor area for cocktail hour and reception. The team is top notch and is incredibility collaborative for the vendors on the day of. We're looking forward to our next one there as they always help make the day so much more seamless for everyone involved.

It's a substantial, legitimate, wine complex, and restaurant. The grounds are indeed beautiful. The vistas are gorgeous with views of nearby mountains.

The sampling of food proved they are not fooling around. Citrus infused olives, smart.

A major caveat is this place is expensive. Typical wineries in this area don't have $20 glasses listed. That glass, in my humble opinion, didn't support the price, but there are other options.

Still the facility alone makes this place a worthy visit.

Why hadn't I heard about this place before? I came across this place on instagram, I'm glad i did. The venue is gorgeous, delicious menu options 😋, friendly stuff, and a fine selection of wines. It's easily one of the best wineries in the area, food, wine, and atmosphere just on point. I'm definitely coming back for a sunday afternoon 😌

Early Mountain Vineyards for brunch was an excellent choice! We order a red wine flight, even though they do not offer as part of the menu, the manager accommodated our request. The brunch was excellent too.

One suggestion, if you have kids, it might be difficult in terms of food. The menu is very limited and do not have kids friendly options. We also ask, and were told only menu items. I still rate 5 star vineyard!

First visiting the Monticello trail and this property provided 10/10 atmosphere with elevated food and good wine.

The prices are certainly elevated for what you can get in tastings from other areas, but in my opinion part of the tasting experience is the atmosphere and ambiance.

We really appreciated the large wine menu which included wines from other nearby wineries, and I’m always drawn to a dish of roasted Brussels sprouts.

Coming during what I’m guessing is the off season, we received really attentive service with all the staff available to assist with any need.

Highly recommend for those seeking a Sonoma style experience in VA.

Stunning views, fantastic wine, great service, delicious food, and wonderful ambiance.

We've tried may of the Charlottesville area wineries and this is one of our top 3 favorites. Outdoor areas allow dogs as well, which is a huge plus for us.
Views: the outdoor patio, both front and back, has expansive views of the Virginia countryside and the vineyards. There are lots of seating options, from casual (picnic tables and large wooden chairs) to full service tables. Umbrellas offer protection and bistro lights provide lighting. Fire pits are also available season
Wine: EMV offers a wide range of reds, whites, sparklings, and roses. They offer a variety (easily 15+) of their own, as well as area/Virginia vineyards. Flights are available to try different varieties and the 2oz pours make the flights an absolute treat. There were 4 available when we visited and we tried two, followed by individual glasses. The wine is well priced for the quality and pour sizes. While we preferred some styles over others, we enjoyed all eight from the flights as well as a ninth variety by glass. Absolutely beautiful wine.
Service: we had a small lunch in addition to the flights on the outdoor patio. Our server was kind, attentive, and lovely. The indoor service is equally top notch, and our previous experiences with the tasting counter echo this experience.
Food: our server noted that the chef is from Inn at Little Washington, which explains why the menu is top notch. Majority of foods are local and season flavors. While a somewhat limited menu, it is creative, tasty, and fresh. We started with a cranberry-ginger chèvre and fresh bread that was to die for. We absolutely loved the pork belly small plate as well as the risotto. Our wine complemented the food well. Price is a tad high, but the quality of the food, attention to flavors, and final presentation make it worth it.
Ambiance: the inside is cozy and welcoming, especially during the winter months (fire place in the center). The layout is expansive but feels intimate at the same time. While we had our dog with us, we'd love to eventually eat inside one day.

We took three bottles home and already looking forward to returning.

Gorgeous! My friend and I had a great afternoon here!! It was busy when we got there but we were able to get a table without a wait. The tasting room is a gorgeous combination of mixed mediums (wood, metal, soft textiles, & glass) which gives a vibe of effortless confidence. We had a flight of wine each, split a charcuterie board & after we decided on which wine we liked best- we bought a bottle to take with us outside. Outside in the picnic area was perfect on a crisp fall day to enjoy the sunset! We finished our visit on Adirondack chairs in front of a massive fire pit. Will definitely return!! 🍷

This place was beautiful and the food/wine was exquisite! If you have the opportunity to sit outside with good weather, please do so! The views are stunning and I can’t wait to come back for their zucchini cake dessert!!!!

We had a pleasant time here, although we started in the patio, but had to move inside as the temp dropped. Tried a few wine flights amongst the six of us and settled on our favorites. Staff was wonderful and the service was very good. Nice place to hang out and sample some wines.

Beautiful! This is quite easily the most scenic vineyard that we have visited. Their wine is fantastic. We enjoyed the charcuterie board and half baget. We are wine club members as well. We have been once before, but we are planning more visits.

Picking up your bags from Dulles airport and heading west/south? Want to escape the DC rush? This should be your first stop in your journey to cleanse your mind and soul. The food will transcend you from the rat race worries and the staff will treat you like the kings and queens you are. You deserve to treat yourself, and this is the best kickoff you’ll find.

Atmosphere: The tasting room is gorgeous and very close to 29. Definitely stop in every time you travel past here, even if it is for a glass of bubbly and an appetizer. There are other wineries with better vistas, but that is only because competition for this is stiff in the VA Piedmont region
Food: Chef Tim Moore seems happy and inspired here. The menu gets refreshed often to reflect the seasons and what is available. Ingredients are high quality. I’d stop here just for the food.
Service: Early Mountain knows hospitality. Each shift appears adequately staffed from front of house, servers, bar staff, and kitchen staff. This is a big operation and it doesn’t appear the owners expect their staff to move at super human speed or perform circus level juggling.
Wine: The wine is approachable. It is a good representation of what VA wine can be. I do feel sometimes the wines may come off as ‘safe’, but it allows consistency of quality and precision to be detected in each wine.
Wine Club: I recently retired my wine club membership. They use to be hosted in the great room with two roaring fires in the middle of winter, sample plate that had inspired pairings with the club wines we got to taste… the most recent pickup had a bag of small pastries from a local shop, cool, but not the epic level event I was hoping each pickup would be.
Bathrooms: nothing to write home about, some vineyards have epic bathroom game in this region, not going to downgrade them a star for this, but always fun to comment on :)

Second visit to Early Mountain Vineyards. Enjoyed wine tasting flights and Cider, along with appetizers of Bison Tartar and the Artisanal Charcuterie & Cheese Board. For our entree, we had the Porcelet King Chop and Grilled Squab Breast.
Service quite good, very friendly and comfortable. Food delicious.
After dinner, we sat outside drinking our favorite wine in Adirondack chairs with a wood fire they had set up. We really enjoyed!
