Great find of this hidden gem and historic landmark. Mostly downhill from the Milam Gap parking lot. Return trip is all up hill. Three creek crossing.

Cool historic site that is well documented and preserved. Volunteer National Park folks were great hosts! Took the hike in the Milam Gap lot which was round trip about 4 miles with some water crossings. Saw one deer grazing on the forest slope and a snake.

Took a ranger led tour, money was not wasted. It was informative and history packed. Truly a hidden taste in the park

Hiked to Rapidan yesterday from Milam Gap. Trail in great shape. And the site was lovely. A volunteer park ranger showed us inside the house. He was terrific. What a hidden gem.

Cool history of the president and the camp. Nice that they can keep some of it there still.

Very interesting. We hiked in instead of using the van. Easy hike with 3 stream crossings but all either had logs or rocks to walk on without getting feet wet. One of the buildings was open for self exploration but there was also a ranger there assigned to host hikers and guide us through the main cabin. We got there a little late in the day but she was very accommodating to offer a great and interesting tour.

This was a great place to visit. While we were there, one of the Park Rangers gave an extremely informative lecture about President Hoover, his wife Lou and the camp. One of the many treasures found along the Skyline Drive.

I can see why the president's would have chosen such a gorgeous location. If this was my house it would be extremely difficult to leave. A must see for any history buff. You can either access this location buy hiking along the trail or by taking a shuttle that only operates Friday Saturday and Sundays

A moderate hike through the woods that follows a stream. There is a small water fall and a few stream crossings. You will end at Rapidian camp. There was a ranger there when we arrived and got a free tour of president Hoover's Brown House. Trail head is at milam gap, 1 mile south of the visitor center.

Secluded and off the beaten path with a beautiful environment. You can't actually camp here but great for a day trip. Lots of historical markers and interpretive signs. NO Verizon service. T-MOBILE works..

Park Ranger on duty as tour guide was very informative and welcoming. Great little piece of history located in the middle of the woods. Who knew?

Wonderful hike. You can also take a bus tour to see it if you can't hike that far.
