Golden City Hibachi & Chinese

This is a new place that opened a week ago & I think it is the best yet! The lady that took our order was so nice & kind. After getting home & trying the food it was worth the price. I think we have found a new favorite place to dine. Food listed: House Hibachi Fried Rice (chicken, steak & shrimp) House Hibachi Soba Noodles (chicken & steak *no shrimp), Sesame Chicken w/egg fried rice, Whole Chicken wings, Egg rolls & Crab Cheese Rangoon.

I ordered a family meal. The general tso chicken was very good, enjoyed the heat and it wasn’t overly salty. I liked that there was a choice of rice! The hibachi was delicious, vegetables fresh, crisp and the meat tender. The chicken soba noodles were excellent with a nice ratio of meat and noodles but a little salty. The last item in the family meal was egg rolls. They were crispy but not a fan of the mushy inside. That won’t stop me from ordering their food again. I’m a fan!

As a rule I mostly never give it five stars however when establishment. Does exceptional job exceptions can be made with great job exceptional job to this establishment hit the spot well done

Ordered some delivery when we first moved in to our new home in Newport News. The General Tso's Chicken are fresh and delicious. Great place to order when you don't want to cook tonight. Plus it is very close to my new home. Thanks

Small, family run restaurant with excellent food.
The Hibachi is delicious here and they will make it spicy, if you prefer! I've ordered here numerous times in the last 1-2 yrs and I cant recall a complaint or issue I've ever had. Nice family and the family artist's drawings are on wall are awesome too.

It was everything I needed. I called the food in, it was ready once I got done paying. I ordered the beef lo mein, general tso, sesame chicken and 3 egg rolls. EVERYTHING was amazing. The fried rice that came with the meal could use a little help but everything else made up for it!! Best 36 buck I’ve spent all year. 😎

Very good food, should try it if your in the area

I have been ordering from this place since it opened. I’ve lived in Newport News for over 30 years and this is hands-down the best food in the area. Everything is fresh ,the restaurant is clean , and the egg rolls are amazing. I have never had a bad meal from here. You will not be disappointed if you order from here I promise you!

Tried it once last week. Been back twice since 🤦🏻‍♂😂 Their hunan sauce is amazing and actually has a kick. Crab Rangoon are amazing and don't have sweetened cream cheese or added sugars. You can actually taste the crab.

Only complaint I have is that the sweet and sour sauce is hit or miss. Sometimes it's watery and only filled half way.

What a great experience! Went to this place a couple of weeks ago, was closed (too early), figured i would try again today, well , im sooo glad i did. I had the best Shrimp egg foo young I've had in years. The homemade tea was great also. If your looking for a good Chinese restaurant in this area, this is the spot, no delivery, but the walk or the drive is well worth it, have to try other dishes, if everything's as good as my meal today, this has to become my number 1.

I placed my order about 30 mins ago, and I ordered the Chicken Egg Foo Young and it was by far the BEST. The order was ready by the time I got there and it was really fresh! I’ll be back again soon

Friendly, courteous service. The food is fresh, made to order, and well-priced with good portion sizes. Eat-in area and restroom both clean and comfortable. Convenient location between the Virginia Living Museum and 264 brought me in.

I'm obsessed with this place 🤤. I discovered this place about 2 weeks ago and I have eaten here 5x since. Its fresh and hot every time. I've had a few things, my favorite is the cheese steak egg roll and General Tso's chicken lunch combo. Every bite absolutely delicious 😋

Their hibachi tasted great!!! The chicken wings so light and crispy!!! I went there last night to buy 2 orders of wings, my children loved them! I had to go back out and get some more because they wolfed it all down and didn’t leave me any.

Not your average takeout. The food is fresh and delicious, including the rice. Establishment is very updated and always clean. Bright, friendly staff. Highly recommend the General Tso's chicken.

Absolutely love this place! Food is wonderful, staff is respectable and friendly and best of all this place is clean and well maintained!! I come here several times a week.

Every time I walk in, before I even open my mouth, the lady asks, "Teriyaki steak and chicken right?" I guess I come too often lol.

Never heard of this restaurant until COVID19 hit and my go-to restaurant closed. Their food is GREAT!!! Lady at the front is so friendly! Will be going back even after the pandemic.

Tried once a few years ago and it was so good, forgot about this hidden gem and tried again tonight, still as good as I remember!

The yellow curry chicken is amazing. Have them leave out the fried potatoes.
