Shotwell Run Brewing has been on my ride list for a long time. What a perfect day to visit for the first time. We rode the Spyder and took the scenic route. The entire area is scenic! The view from the parking lot is almost as nice as the one from the seating area! What a nice change from the Way Over Commercialized places. Employees / Owners (unfortunately didn't get to chat with them too much) were really nice. We really enjoyed the Agetha Belgin! Got there before the food truck arrived and were pleasantly surprised how tasty the Charcuterie Box they offered was.
We struck up a friendly conversation with fellow motorcycle riders all the way from Virginia Beach. James and Nicole even said they are stopping again when back in the area. We too are definitely going back. My only regret is we didn't go sooner. Too the owners, thank you for a wonderful day.

Nice mix of winery and brewery. The spot is magnificent on top of a small hill with a lovely patio and outstanding views. Highly recommend the Stacked IPA.

In between Sperryville and and Madison, right past Etlan I found this marvelous gem of a brewery in the countryside. I decided to stop by for a beer after a long day hiking at SNP. I was not expecting much as there is not much advertising other than a few signs on the side of the road that said BEER. That should be enough, right?
Me and my dog enjoyed a good blond Ale while gazing at the breath-taking scenery and sharing stories with new friends we made.
The owners and are really nice and the tap room is extremely inviting. There was a food truck and a band playing. Truly, one of the most relaxing experiences of our day. The beer selection, I feel, is bit limited but have just recently started in business. So far, an excellent place to enjoy good beer, relax, enjoy time with human and furry friends and let the kids run too. Just go. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Shotwell Run Brewing Company was one of the best breweries of out trip to Charlottesville VA. The Brewery in not near, but we travel thru it to be able to stop. They also part of a winery. Best of both words you can enjoy, as well as great ambient and mountain views!

Visiting from out of town, hiked Old Rag and wanted to stop at a brewery afterwards. The food and beer did not disappoint. Beautiful setting. The double stack IPA was recommended on another review, ordered it and it was our favorite out of the lineup. Highly recommend a visit here if you're in the area.

My boyfriend and I usually stop in after fishing! We love wine for me, beer for him! They had a awesome valentines special which we got to enjoy by the fire while listening to live music. Always a friendly and welcoming staff- such a cozy atmosphere ❤

This brewery is amazing. The views are spectacular, the care and time that the staff puts in is obvious with every interaction. The COVID precautions were taken seriously and I felt very safe with the cleaning and social distancing I witnessed. I remarked out loud about how happy I was.

Additionally the beer was all expertly brewed with attention to style and detail and I was very happy to see a brewery that doesn’t think 90% of their menu should be IPAs. I didn’t sample the wine but the table next to us was really happy with what they got.

Totally exceeded our expectations - amazing Czech Pilsner and a Kolsch (both get 4.5/5 for taste and crispness), amazing view, friendly staff, live music, dog friendly, great food truck (tacos and quesadillas).

I discovered this brewery as I was heading home after completing the Shenandoah National Park. It was amazing!! I got the Nut Brown Ale and love ever drop. :-) This brewery is not far out from Madison nestled on a vinyard that has a beautiful view of Old Rag Mountain. Talk about relaxing setup! Totally recommend his place for beer and wine because it's also a winery.

My now-husband and I rented out Shotwell for a welcome event for our guests the night before our wedding. Chris Wallin, the owner, was an absolute joy to work with, and charged us what I thought was a very reasonable rate. The setting of the brewery is stunning - our guests' jaws dropped when they arrived. Every beer is delicious too! We managed to put together a rag-tag band of the various musicians in our families, and even though it thunder stormed for part of our party, everyone stayed dry and had a great time.

Chris and her staff were so lovely, it felt like they were part of the party. We will have to make a stop by there now every time we are back in the Shenandoah region. Thank you, Chris and Shotwell!

Great experience, especially for a recent upstart. All staff (owners included) were friendly. My two friends said that the 4 beers featured were very diverse thus there would likely be at least one that would appeal to a beer lover (unfortunately, I do not care for beer of any description). They both liked three of the 4. And each had a different “favorite”. The free freshly popped popcorn was a real treat. Tasting room is shared with Blue Quartz Winery. I loved the two red wines. My friends also enjoyed the white and cider (I just don’t happen to like the white variety or cider regardless of winery). The Little Country Store was doing BBQ on site...Don is a gourmet on the grill. The tasting room is simple but beautiful. Fantastic view from patio. Been to many adult beverage makers throughout Virginia and Maryland. Was so pleasantly surprised to find such quality at a location less than 15 miles from my home!

We were visiting in the area and discovered Shotwell Brewing Company. Even though there was limited electricity, we had an excellent time. We also enjoyed the drink selection.

Great new brewery that pulled out all of the stops to create a warm and inviting space in line with the natural beauty that it resides in. The inside of the brewing looks great with a lot of nice wood. The covered patio just outside the brewery is also inviting, and the large lawn space further outside is fantastic. We were there in the blazing hot summer but would also love to go in the fall and sit by the fire pit.

One of the best and most unique qualities is that the view simply cannot be beat. Looking down the sloping property you see the vineyard across the hill and the Shenandoah mountains (including a great view of Old Rag) behind that. I could have sat there taking it in for a long time (and I did!). There isn't much food nearby. There is a small local store that serves some hot food (pizza, BBQ, sandwiches, etc). However, the brewery also has food trucks and the one they had on the day we were there was great. The brewery owners were also incredibly nice, responsive, and took all of the necessary COVID precaution.

The beer was solid. Since they are a smaller brewery I believe that they generally only have 5 beers on tap, but all the beers were very good and can satisfy a range of tastes. Definitely check out this place if you are anywhere near the area!

Wonderful brewery with incredible views, delicious beers, and friendly staff (including the brew dogs)!! Drinking beers here is the perfect way to end a day of hiking! There was live music and a food vendor and plenty of seating inside and outside. The inside of the brewery is stunning with all the raw wood! When I was there, they had a red ale, golden ale, Hefeweizen, and IPA on tap. All the beers I tried were fantastic! Highly recommend this brewery!
