Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant

1st time here... Service was impeccable! My waitress was fast, attentive, and made great recommendations! I had a lemonade, chips & salsa, and a Mexican Stack. I saw this place on the way to my hotel and came here for an early lunch. It did not disappoint. When I learned of the 2 choices of salsa, I was sure I would choose the Traditional over the Cilantro Pineapple, but it was hard to choose. The Cilantro Pineapple was surprisingly very good! The Mexican Stack was kind of like Mexican pizza, but it was stacked with toppings, so a fork was necessary. Everything was filling and delicious and topped off with excellent service!!!

This place is amazing!! My coworker & I are here for training for a week and we went twice in one day! By the far the friendliest place we’ve been to yet(a lot of places here don’t feel friendly) everything from the hostess’s(day + night shift) plus the servers (even the one training) were awesome! We even got to meet the guy running the show who was so friendly. The food is so so soooooo good!!! Big portions, yummy chips and salsa and awesome drinks!! If we ever come back to Chesapeake we will most definitely make our way back to Abuelo’s!!

This place was awesome, staff was amazing there short staffed but they get done our waitress was on point and she helping in the kitchen and at bar but she excellent I think was Carman I'm not possibly.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience or tastier food. Service was A+.

I ordered the fajita salad with shrimp w/ the honey lime dressing. The shrimp was a delight, cooked to perfection. I asked for it in the lightly fried tortilla bowl, and dare I say.. tastiest bowl I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant.

Unprompted, the manager came over to ask us how our meal was. He was super welcoming.

These Virginia Beach residents will definitely be trekking to Chesapeake more often!

Abuelo's is a Mexican restaurant located next to Greenbrier Mall. This was my first time here. The food is good. I had Tilapia fish with shrimp and butter sauce served with a vegetable medley and cilantro lime rice. The service was wonderful, and our waitress was very friendly. The scenery was very beautiful.

I love Mexican food and Abuelo's delivers. Food served supper hot right off of the grill or skillet. Adult size portions, attentive servers, delicious food. Very clean and professional establishment.

I came here on a Sunday and enjoyed the fresh and hot food. Brooke our bartender immediately greeted us and let us know of specials!
The Happy hour was great!

I do miss having the Hampton location, but still worth the food.
Marquis and Lela were both great servers, and take care of me.
Jeff and Vince stopped by for table visits and seemed to care from a management standpoint how we were doing.

Really good Mexican food, went there from Miami for my birthday. They served me the best frozen strawberry margarita i ever drank before 😍😍

Beautiful restaurant. The server was very attentive and the food was delicious. The dessert was amazing! If you are craving some god Mexican food come check this place out!

Absolutely wonderful and delicious food. Excellent wait staff. We never ran out of anything before the waitress was bringing more. The atmosphere was incredible as well.

Everything was yummy....we will definitely be back to try more of their menu. Different kinds of dishes observed than other Mexican restaurants. Chips were light, crispy, and fresh to go along with the great salsas. Our service experience with Crista was fantastic! The manager was friendly and on the floor checking to make sure customers were good...

This place has great decor, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and really good food and margaritas! I loved the painting on the back wall, plus there's this neat courtyard experience!

The best food, drinks and service and super clean. We go about once a month and we have never been disappointed. We also got engaged there 9yrs ago. I left my phone this last time and my husband got a friendly call that it was there! I love Abuelo's! 12/21/21

My group and I (8 people) went for dinner last night (on a Wednesday) and as expected had no wait and got seated right away. Our waitress was amazing and at our table immediately to get our drink orders which everyone got the iced teas and lemonade which was amazing. We had a ton of refills which the waitress was on top of getting refreshers just as the drinks were finishing up.

For starters the chips and salsa was great and we got gauc which was amongst the best I’ve had. Highly recommend.

For dinner i got the sea bass with one of the cream toppings and shrimp. It is definitely worth the money for the fish and topping. I was so full and the rice was with lime and very tasty.

Incredibly gorgeous interior! It has a five star atmosphere and taste. The cilantro lime rice is a real treat. Nothing on the menu is short of great. My server was Raymond and he was attentive and kind. Dinner and drinks for two came out to under 60 bucks on a Friday Night! I will be coming back! Definitely a must try restaurant in Chesapeake!

Let me explain. We first arrived and asked how long was the wait. She told us 15 minutes. Not so true they seated us within 5 minutes. Awesome. Our waiter was completely amazing. He went above and beyond his duty. (Left a great tip) The staff was extremely pleasant. The decor was beautiful. The amount of food and price was spot on. I had to take 75% of it home. I didnt realize I ordered something so massive. Lets not start with the taste of it all. My God from the chips an salsa(pineapple salsa🤤🤤) to the appetizer and entree, it was everything. So thank you for an amazing experience

From NJ and when i come here this is my go to place. Good size portions and always leave satisfied. Even tasted great the very next day i took for work.

Delicious meal and great service as usual. I always order the tilapia, but this time they offered four different sauces on it and I didn't know which one to choose. Our server Jenny G (who was fantastic by the way!) suggested that I get the Guerrero sauce which had shrimp and mushrooms in it made the meal even better than usual! She also suggested the cheesy mashed potatoes which actually worked quite well with the fish! My wife had the chicken chimichangas. As you can see from the pictures, the meal was as beautiful as it was delicious!

Had a really great time wit my family that had came up2visit...the employees worked really hard2get us a table ready so we didn't have2wait long at all..Had a frozen margarita n my sister n son n law had the frozen margarita wit Sangria swirl n the where great the food was really great also n fresh n hot really enjoyed it had a great time Highly recommended will return again
