Balkan Treat Box

The service: On a Saturday at 11:30 AM, the line was almost out the door on the other side of the restaurant! And for good reason. We came prepared for that, the line went fast, about 15 minutes? AND when you get to the front, they tell you where to sit, so you don’t need to worry AT ALL about fighting for your place in line (they enforce a single file line), or stressing about finding a seat after you order. They checked on us frequently after we got our food, promptly cleaned things. They have this down to a science! Why can’t every restaurant be this efficient???????

Food: AMAZING. AMAZING. You can’t go wrong, we got the fish plate, the flat bread, the wrap (with beef) and the Doner with chicken, and the bread pudding. I mean….no notes. It was impeccable. And they hand make their bread.

Atmosphere: Great layout, good vibes, good decorations, wish the place was bigger! Maybe one day!

Everything about this place is incredible! If I could give it 10 stars in every category I would. Pren was SO friendly and helpful and patient as he explained the different ingredients and gave recommendations. Everyone there is so friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. There was even a random customer who comes often that was eager to give recommendations! Also the music is great!

This has just become a regular stop whenever I come into the city. Excited to come back and try more! Silly be thought there would be leftovers. Not when the good is this amazing!

Great and busy spot for some good food. They don't stay open for long but they don't need to.

They have limited tables for two / four but if you have more or you're late then you'll have to share a large and long table for others but I think that's a plus!

Very attentive staff coming around for refills or anything else that you need.

They have limited outdoor seating in the back as well as a large shared parking lot in the back as well.

This Balkan restaurant is nothing but outstanding. The menu has lots of vegan and vegetarian options including tofu and plant-based "meat". The bread is freshly backed and thier house-made iced tea is something you should not miss.

I visited this place in the past and it was excellent but now it is outstanding 😋😋😋

The food was fantastic and the staff is great very friendly 😀 The atmosphere was was great. We got the food fast and hot. My husband loves it here soon much he has already planned out 2 more trips. Lol

We visited on a saturday. Arrived at 2:05 and standed in line until 2:45, until we finally got a table. But it was delicious and well worth it.
The staff is respectful, so we didnt mind the waiting time. The atmosphere is fun and diverse.

Tried Balkan for the first time on my visit to St. Louis. All I can say is WOW!! Food was 10/10, service absolutely wonderful and the overall atmosphere was just great. Had the beef Pide and the beef Lahmacun, would highly HIGHLY recommend. Their hummus and bread is also so good!! Will definitely visit again next time!

Great Bosnian restaurant..portions were very good! I tried Cevapi,it's Bosnian sausage in a pita bread. Highly recommend it!

Amazing food. Everything on the menu is worth getting. The service was phenomenal.

What a treat! Expect a big line anytime you go but service is so good and quick. Cooks and people serving are so attentive and nice. Love all the dishes. Best bread it is. Fresh flavorful ingredients. Red pepper dip is phenomenal. Buttermilk is delicious. Grilled fish is amazing.

We arrived at 10:50am and got in line for lunch. The line was extensive before they even opened the doors. They handled it like pros. They assigned tables and passed out menus and it went so smoothly. We were VERY impressed. Loved the food. Crazy delicious. We will definitely be back!

Great experience! I've never eaten anything quite like this. You'll definitely want to get there right at opening time as they fill up quick!

Very busy inside but it did not hamper the service one bit. Delicious Balkan/Turkish fare and they even have their own lager on tap thanks to Urban Chestnut Brewery. The food is excellent and very close/the same to what we've had in Europe and the Balkan peninsula.

Some of the best Bosnian and Balkan inspired food I’ve had! We ordered 4 different entrees and 3 desserts and it was all delicious. I expected the meat meals would be great but was pleasantly surprised by the vegetarian options. Wish there was an ATL location 😄

Food is amazing! Great vegetarian options. So tasty. A little pricy but you get what you pay for.

Every part of this St. Louis gem will keep me coming back. The food is unique and delicious with fresh ingredients. The staff is kind, happy, courteous and genuinely fun. And all of this in a very thoughtfully laid out and designed space. Don't wait! Go there now, get the#2 with chicken and get the dessert special!

I have been back SEVERAL times. Everyone and everything is still amazing. My wife and I plan to return as frequently as we can!

I had never tried Bulgarian food before, and this restaurant is right in our neighborhood, so we gave it a go. I'm so glad we did! I ordered the lahmacun with spicy beef, it was fantastic! My only complaint is that the portion was slightly on the small side, so I was still a little hungry afterward. No biggie, I just know I need to add a side or two next visit. And there will be a next visit, it's so good!

Absolutely delicious! I had the lahmacun and the seasonal iced tea. Staff was extremely helpful. Hope to be back soon.

Delicious food and great hospitality. It was our first time and the staff explained the menu well and the food was beautiful. Looking forward to returning!
